Amt truck reissues I'd like to see
Brinx replied to Bennyg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm on board with the cornbinders F and S series (I'd buy several) The Autocar dump would be good as well. Actually, wonder why it never occurred to AMT (et al) to box and sell just the vocational parts of these kits kind of on the order of their accessory parts packs they released long ago, I imagine they'd sell. I'd for sure grab up half dozen of the AC's Montone dump box. brinx -
Hey Lenny, Don't forget to calculate the correct amount of winter additive you need to add to the diesel on these 8 degree nights! Seriously, thanks for taking the time and sharing the results as I've often wondered the capacities myself! brinx (here un upstate, we're in a "heat-wave" at 25f...wooo hoo!)

1/25 drop deck trailer
Brinx replied to williamchevelleman1972's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
William, Very nicely done! I'm re-inspired to have a go at something like that as well. I love your weathering on the wood deck especially. Your pictures (especially the underside) are going to be quite helpful...thanks for sharing. brinx -
Southern cab load
Brinx replied to Chris guthro's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
From a disaster to a VICTORY....great save! (love the pallet too) -
Very well done Q-tip! I have one of those kits set aside with the same intention. Nice work engineering the RD parts (source for the decals?) I think you made the kit's trailer work quite well. brinx

White western star
Brinx replied to Chris guthro's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Looks good Chris. I especially like your tag-a-long trailer set-up. -
Looks good Mark. I did one a while back, but my rivets (aft of the doors) didn't hold up as well as yours. Looking forward to watching your progress.

I love the color combo...and the pattern looks spot-on. The white wheels work for me!

ChevroletC-60 flat bed truck
Brinx replied to Arnd's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice truck....Looks like a typical farm truck...just ready for a load of apples, corn or hay. Ein gut aussehendes Fahrzeug! (I hope my Google translator didn't just make me look dumb...lol) -
Jacobus, Some really nice vintage rigs you have there...very well done. The Alaskan Hauler (green KW) looks EXACLY like the picture on the box (was anyone else dismayed as a kid that there was NO chrome in the kit?) Funny part is, now....I'm usually stripping off ALL the chrome for my trucks now! The WT 9000 is pretty cool too. overall---nice group there at the ol' truck stop.

Check this site: morestuff4less.com/stories/2004/03/06/1976Kenworth,html or search 1976 Kenworth and it should pop up near the top of the list. The blogger posted about a dozen, very clear and detailed shots, several of them giving a good look at the interior. The post was so good, it provided me all the research I needed.

Any time JT, I had to do it as it's the only orange rig I have in my fleet (so far) . Yeah, she'll be good around the yard for you.
-
I think you got a winning combo there..can't wait to see when you're done!
-
Anthony, Great looking rig, the decals came out really nice and look great along that smooth orange paint. I'm with you guys, for the price of these kits, the level of detail and ease of assembly, I can overlook some of those little things as well. (Force, I'm with you on the mudflaps...been "choking-up" th tail lights/flaps by shortening all my frames as well).
-
Thanks Bob. John, yours came out VERY nice...you're right about those gold stipes (best part, I ran out of the thin one before I was done and had to cut about 2' of a wider one...THAT was lots of fun )
-
Thanks guys. My builds have improved b/c of the tips/encouragement from the members here!

First time builder in need of help.

Another thing to consider using is card stock and white glue...might be able to come up with the shape you need and then prime and paint and you're there (a lot cheaper to practice too rather than styrene). I've done several mock-ups and templates using index cards with pretty good results...mistakes are a lot cheaper too..lol -
FLA truck stop modeler
Brinx replied to clayton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
On road trips (to Florida) as a kid, I would always sit behind dad and in the back seat and pretend I was driving my brand-new KW down the highway. Pop was ok with that, but kindly asked that I disabled my *&^%$#@^ jake brake. -
Remember "Owner Operator magazine"
Brinx replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sean, My mom still laughs about the time the GMC salesman showed up at the door but was told he couldn't see the president of Johnny Wheels trucking because he was in (9th grade) school that day...she said that guy was kinda miffed!
