thnx mike .. i just used some black powder but that toned down the colors to much so i brought it back with rust powder and burnt sierra .. just a matter of keep playing with tones ....this one is very rusty and brown .. but when the dio is started i will aso do vehicles in different weathering stages .. from a easy fixer upper .. to the more peeling of paint style ... -

thnx stray , the rust still needs some mild dark tones ... still need to do that just started on something special ... i have real bonsai's and one ... looses it's leafs in the autumn .... this year i collected the leafs and while some are a tad to big , a lot are just perfectly on scale !!!! so started to apply some already on the dodge .. and it looks soo cool and the plus is they are real leafs -

thnx guys !! hmm quit simple this one has a base color of desert sand (army paint) matte ... on that i used acylic burns sierra , no fixed method just paint and wipe with cloths .. from there i use oil paints , they take ages to dry and ca be toned down for a week .. so when you think -the next day- hmm to much you tone it down i also used pigment rust powder .. but thats is wiped into the paint qand gives a tone rather then look like rust ... the dark is black oil paint , using only a tiny bit aplyed to a part on the body and with a soft large dry brush spreading it along the surface , to much ? wipe with a cloth ... so again no fixed methos i usually use only a few colors ..and look wise just see where it go's ... when i had a overall coverage that was dark and dry .. i took a cloth and wiped some spots real hard so the light sand army paint showed .. then put acrylic burnt sierra on the light spots (real thick) let it dry for 20 minutes and then tapped it with a cloth until it was flat ... so you get like a dark tone > light tone imo its a case of trying stuff for me weathering is just a fun thing and you can go mad even when it looked ruined you can just adjust it .... atm i am aplying some runners from the roof down the side .. thats also a thing that looks cool .. just take a thin wooden pin and put a small stripe on the body and pull it down with a soft brush (dry) hope this makes sense its about the way i do it -
in preparation for a dio project i will be building coming winter i started to re-do a dodge van i had .... not done yet but i started with a base weathering on the body wich i can add on from now ... broken front window with a trown trhough rock (real stone) flat front tyres more to come the dio > so the dio will be a combination of a old barn / garage , a hoarders property with loads of junk , complete with a moonshine still (using real brass) so this will give me plenty of room to go crazy ... several vehicles , olds signs , apliences .. you name it ..... but first i need to finish my garage dio , the car hauler ..... but i didnt feel much like building the past month(s) , so i hope starting with some prework on weathered vehicles wich is easy work and just means battering and weathering them will get me back in the mood again
