Is the seal needed in vehicles like Dune Buggys, where they'd be of little use? Do these engines run hot under those applications? And do the Volkswagen engines run hot under similar circumstances for the same reasons?

Round 2 February 2018 Product Spotlight
unclescott58 replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm with you on the Catalina and El Camino. Those two are the two I'm most likely to pickup. Sorry to say, as others have noted here, Rob missed it on the Commando kit set up. The real vehicle went to AMC engines, along with the other Jeeps for '72. The Commando also got the new front end at the same time. As noted, MPC updated the looks of their Commando kit. But not the engine. The kit still has the Dauntless (Buick) V6 in it. It maybe wrong. But it's okay with me. That's the way kits were done back then. Most kids would have never known it was wrong. -
I like it. Very nice.

Lindberg kit? Lindberg offered a kit of this generation Ford?

A great job of building a turd. I'm impressed.

If done right, this could be good. -
Subaru Brat

Okay!? No offense, but kind of a lame bit of humor. (I'm assuming you were going for humor?) A little funny the more I think about it. But..... -

I'm sorry. I don't get this? What does an Type 2 VW bus have to do with "ham"? I'm missing something here. -
`Polished Plastic ; Please Share'
unclescott58 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just finished this one. No paint. No polishing. After putting down decals, I just covered it with Future floor polish. -
I guess not. Still looks pretty good.

The more I look at the above photos, the more skeptical I get about this model. The rear bumper alone is a reason I would pass on this kit. Somehow, I have a feeling this is being done on the cheap. I'm wondering if they mastered they're prototype off of a JoHan '75? Not knowing enough to change the rear bumper? Again since it's a NASCAR model, I guess the rear bumper doesn't really matter to me. I'm not interest in it unless it can be built as something I could have bought from my Olds dealer and driven on the street. My gut is telling me that this maybe a legit attempt of getting a new kit to market. But at what cost? Why does their prototype have an earlier year rear bumper? For they're first car kit, I'm unimpressed. I'm not holding my breath on anything beyond this kit. I have a feeling they really don't know what they're doing. Or have the wherewithal to do it right. Its a shame. I'm hoping I'm wrong, and the kit turns out better than what we're seeing. And sells wells. Bring farther releases of stuff I would be interested in buying. Good luck to them.

Beautiful. I'm impressed.

Wow! I love your Hot Wheel builds. All of them are very kool.

1959 Triumph TR3A - 49 years since my last build!
unclescott58 replied to Harpo's topic in Model Cars
Welcome back to model building. You did a pretty great job for not building in 49 years! -
I like the above Mustang too. I'm not a big fan of the more modern cars. But, I really like the looks of this one.

What would YOU like to see as a model
unclescott58 replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've never seen the above before. And I love the 60's 230, 250, and 280SL. I want one. Even in 1/32 scale. -
This was a fun build. The Saint Paul police or the Minnesota State Patrol need something like this for cruising at Back to the 50's, or other local events. This is the old MPC snap kit. Built straight out of the box. No paint (other than the taillights and front parking lights). Just a little Future to give it a better shine. I really like the way it turned out.

Second build? It looks pretty good. Keep it up.

Ladies and Gentlemen: My dream daily driver: C7 Corvette (+Added Video)
unclescott58 replied to ismaelg's topic in Model Cars
Wow! It looks great. If it has to be a modern car, you picked one of the good ones. The C7 is the best looking Corvette since 1973. The last year for any chrome bumpers on a Corvette. At least in the rear. The C7 looked right to me from the first time saw it. And the color you picked, is the one I would go with on a real C7 if I had one. Nice job. -
I like it. If the roof is not right, it still looks good to me. I have one in waiting. I plan doing it in Minnesota State Patrol colors and markings. Even though Minnesota only used unmarked versions of the car. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours.

1971 Mustang Mach1 upgraded with Missing Link front end conversion kit.
unclescott58 replied to RandyB.'s topic in Model Cars
I can't agree more. It looks great. -
Very cool. I love that it is striped with the Mercury name, rather than Ford. Growing up with Comets back in the 60's, it tickles my fancy.
-
What's wrong on your model above? It looks great to me. Including the Corvair engine.

Lindberg 1929 T Rod Background Info
unclescott58 replied to regular guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh! Your right. It was started by "regular guy," wasn't it? That does explain a lot. And knowing what I know of his past threads, I too should not have responded to this one.
