`Polished Plastic ; Please Share'
unclescott58 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just finished this one. No paint. No polishing. After putting down decals, I just covered it with Future floor polish. -
I guess not. Still looks pretty good.

The more I look at the above photos, the more skeptical I get about this model. The rear bumper alone is a reason I would pass on this kit. Somehow, I have a feeling this is being done on the cheap. I'm wondering if they mastered they're prototype off of a JoHan '75? Not knowing enough to change the rear bumper? Again since it's a NASCAR model, I guess the rear bumper doesn't really matter to me. I'm not interest in it unless it can be built as something I could have bought from my Olds dealer and driven on the street. My gut is telling me that this maybe a legit attempt of getting a new kit to market. But at what cost? Why does their prototype have an earlier year rear bumper? For they're first car kit, I'm unimpressed. I'm not holding my breath on anything beyond this kit. I have a feeling they really don't know what they're doing. Or have the wherewithal to do it right. Its a shame. I'm hoping I'm wrong, and the kit turns out better than what we're seeing. And sells wells. Bring farther releases of stuff I would be interested in buying. Good luck to them.

Beautiful. I'm impressed.

Wow! I love your Hot Wheel builds. All of them are very kool.

1959 Triumph TR3A - 49 years since my last build!
unclescott58 replied to Harpo's topic in Model Cars
Welcome back to model building. You did a pretty great job for not building in 49 years! -
I like the above Mustang too. I'm not a big fan of the more modern cars. But, I really like the looks of this one.

What would YOU like to see as a model
unclescott58 replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've never seen the above before. And I love the 60's 230, 250, and 280SL. I want one. Even in 1/32 scale. -
This was a fun build. The Saint Paul police or the Minnesota State Patrol need something like this for cruising at Back to the 50's, or other local events. This is the old MPC snap kit. Built straight out of the box. No paint (other than the taillights and front parking lights). Just a little Future to give it a better shine. I really like the way it turned out.

Second build? It looks pretty good. Keep it up.

Ladies and Gentlemen: My dream daily driver: C7 Corvette (+Added Video)
unclescott58 replied to ismaelg's topic in Model Cars
Wow! It looks great. If it has to be a modern car, you picked one of the good ones. The C7 is the best looking Corvette since 1973. The last year for any chrome bumpers on a Corvette. At least in the rear. The C7 looked right to me from the first time saw it. And the color you picked, is the one I would go with on a real C7 if I had one. Nice job. -
I like it. If the roof is not right, it still looks good to me. I have one in waiting. I plan doing it in Minnesota State Patrol colors and markings. Even though Minnesota only used unmarked versions of the car. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours.

1971 Mustang Mach1 upgraded with Missing Link front end conversion kit.

I can't agree more. It looks great. -
Very cool. I love that it is striped with the Mercury name, rather than Ford. Growing up with Comets back in the 60's, it tickles my fancy.

What's wrong on your model above? It looks great to me. Including the Corvair engine.

Lindberg 1929 T Rod Background Info
unclescott58 replied to regular guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh! Your right. It was started by "regular guy," wasn't it? That does explain a lot. And knowing what I know of his past threads, I too should not have responded to this one. -
Yes it is. And yes he is.

Toy fair 2018 news and pictures.

Very nice model you built. I don't understand why the Japanese will not tool up a LHD dash, steering, and pedals for kits of cars once sold in the U.S.? I believe they would sell more of these models to guys like me, if they did. Now do go ahead and buy it this time or not? Or do I wait hoping, for a LHD version of this kit? Or buy, wait for someone to do a resin conversion, and never really build the car? -
No offense to others here. But, Mr. Boyd's reputation with me at least, is such, that I'm willing to go with it. And eat a little crow on this one. Spending money retooling a kit to save money doesn't make much sense to me. But then again, I have no real knowledge of how to successfully to run a business. This is why I work mainly in the public sector. And am a peon in my part time private sector job.

Looks like some cool stuff coming. I want Revell's Porsche 356 snap kit. And the Toyota 2000GT with 60's girl figure. I'm hoping. But not holding my breath. That the 2000GT will have the option of placing the steering wheel on the left. -
Chev vs Ford
unclescott58 replied to dieseldawg142's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Chevy Corvette. Ford GT. I love them both. One can beat the other? I don't care. I'd love to have either one in my garage. -
Full size replica Model T hot rod
unclescott58 replied to Hammerdown's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Kool! I like it. I would have gone nuts for something like that in my early teens, before I got my first driver's license. Heck, it would still be fun to have. -
Waltrip at Bathurst is pretty good. Is that a Holden he's riding in? And I do like the modern version of the Cobra coupe above. A very nice looking car.

Lindberg 1929 T Rod Background Info
unclescott58 replied to regular guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Didn't some late, '26 and '27 Ts have gas tanks in the cowl? Like an "A" they weren't very big. From what I remember, I believe the Model As tank held at best about 10 gallons. I don't know if any of this applies to the Lindberg '29 T or not? I've never owned one. -
With all of the great reissues Round 2 has brought back over the years, I'm wondering where this one is at? I think this kit was out only the one time. I wonder if there is some problem since it was tooled up when Lesney was in control of AMT? Or licensing issues with Subaru? Or what? I'd love to see this one come back.
