  1. I'm sure I've mentioned this before. But here is a little Crosley club humor. Looking at Crosley's emblem, you'll notice four birds. Do you know what those birds represent? The pigeons who were suckered in to buying Crosleys when they were brand new.
  2. Dave's hit it. They've been busy with sci-fi, figure kits, etc. And pretty high priced sci-fi kits. Moebuis, Round 2, Atlantis, and others keep coming up with these new, beautiful, and expensive sci-fi kits. What does that tell those of us in model car hobby? Obviously the sci-fi builders are willing to spend the money, making developing new kits for them worthwhile. Instead we complain that we can't anything new for some ridiculously low price like we paid for models 25 years ago. So why we wait for their new Ford pickup trucks and Chevy IIs, the sci-fi guys get a new 2001 Space Odyssey Discovery and Fantastic Voyage Proteus. And both are not cheap kit!
  3. How! What a concept. Building model cars for the fun of it! I hate bare metal foil. And I don't mind that a lot of my models look a lot like promos in the end. It's what makes me happy. And I'm having fun. Do I like the models the way the author of article is building his models? No. But, I like what he's doing in concept. He's having fun. And having fun is a big reason I got into this hobby too. A lot of times I will not showing my models here. Because I know they do not measure up others standards. I get tired of being asked, "Why don't you use some bare metal foil or paint on your windows and other moldings?" Because for the most part, I hate doing it. And I've ruined good paint jobs and consequence some good models in the process. Plus I like the look of most of my models in the end. I enjoyed the article. It was refreshing. Our local model car club, the Model Car Club of Minnesota (the MCCM), has a saying. A mission statement you might say. That is, "Build It, Bring It, Have Fun Doing Both!" And I'm pleased to say we do a pretty good of following that. They may give me a little flack about my un-chrome foiled models. And encourage me to expand my horizons. (Some times getting me to use some foil.) But, they don't disparage what I'm doing, and compliment on what they do like about my models and me. So much so, I've been with the club for at least 25 years now. And my modeling has gotten better in that time. Partly through they're encouragement and help. Below is an example of my work.
  4. I love Crosleys, and have been a member of the Crosley club for many years. As much as I would to see especially a Hot Shot in styrene plastic, I too don't think there is enough market for a major model manufacturer to tool up one. But, if they do, I'll be adding at least one to my collection.
  5. There all ready a thread going on this. Why start another?
  6. I'm not 100% sure if this the right place to post this one, or not? In today's mail, I got Model Motoring's repop of Aurora Model Motoring HO Judges Stand. It looks like an exact replica made from the old Aurora molds.
  7. Today I got Micro-Trains Weyerhaeuser Logging Train. My father worked for Weyerhaeuser when I was growing up, so I had to buy it.
  8. Didn't only one of Kanangas' henchman drive a "Superfly" style Cadillac? And the rest plain Chevys?
  9. How much is left in the above kit, to convert it back to stock? I hope you do a review so we can see what comes in these boxes.
  10. I don't know if you can get it in the UK. But this stuff works pretty good.
  11. The big question. What the kit? I'm always curious. I'm guessing it's an AMT kit.
  12. I agree. I think you've nailed it. As much as I'd like to JoHan's models come back, I really doubt it's going to happen. Such a shame.
  13. 390, 410, 428. You can claim it to be anyone of those. All three look the same. I'm willing to bet, that AMT claimed it to be the 428 at the time.
  14. I don't think there was a '69 annual of a full-size Mercury. '66 was the last year of a kit or promo for full-size Mercurys. 1967 on, it was Cyclones, Cougars, Comets, and Capris for Mercurys in scale.
  15. Wow! Neat build. It turned out great. ?
  16. '53 and '54 Corvettes were all 6-cylinders. The V-8 was introduced for 1955. And all '53 Corvettes were painted Polo White from the factory. Other colors followed, starting in Corvette's second year.
  17. Oh and I've been called worst things than a "wormhole." Wait until you what they call me in that "alternate universe." Bwahaha! ?
  18. You have some warped thinking Mr. Drysdale, Chris. I respect that. You've given me plenty to think about. The only trouble is, I'm now a little scared of using my Tamiya Flat Earth paint. For consequences that may come from it? Then again, if I'm creating an "alternative universe" when I do use the paint. Like you suggest. Does make me god in that universe? And will I be a loving and benevolent god? Or an evil and wrathful god? Am I good enough to take on this much responsibility? You can see my dilemma? A heck. I'm mean and evil. And love power. I'm going for it! Bwahaha!
