My Last Modelhaus order
unclescott58 replied to dimaxion's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
They were the best. And still dearly missed. -
You know Snake, your a bad influence on me. Your comments on the VW front suspension got me to go back and take a closer at the photos Casey posted above. The more I looked, the more I kind of like the chassis included in the kit. That and the turntable might convince me to buy the kit. Might. I will need a little bit more to really be pushed into doing it.

After all, North America is a fairly big market. I think they would smart in pursuing it more. I will buy more of their kits if they start offering kits that appeal to me more. I've been very happy with the Hasegawa kits I've built so far. Again, I'd like to them and Tamiya offer more kits aimed at those of us over here in North America. I love their stuff.

I've wondered about AMT's decline in the late 70's too. I bought less and less of their stuff as the 1970's wore on. Because I felt it wasn't up to snuff with the stuff they were doing back in the 1960's. In fact it seemed like as MPC kits moved up, AMT went down. Especially with MPC basically taking over the Annual field. I always wondered if the guys who really understood the model market hadn't move over to MPC when it was started by a former AMT employee. (I believe I'm correct on that? Am I not Tim?) As far as Moebuis quality, I haven't really seen any major problems with their kits. I've found the kits of their's I have built, to go together with few issues. None that were not within my skills to easily fix. I've been very pleased with Moebuis' kits.

Another fun figure kit. Part of Lindberg's Jolly Roger Series. Hex Marks the Spot. Which as you all know is really a repop of MPC's old Pirates of the Caribbean kit, Dead Man's Raft. I'm pleased with how it turned out. Other than the skeleton that pops out of the box does not seen to like to throw his right arm, hand, and knife out to mark the map like he is supposed to do. I've operated it maybe a half dozen times now. And only once did the arm fly out like it should. Beyond that I'm pleased.

All the cars your showing are too new for me. So I have little to no interest in them. I mainly want models of 1960's through early 70's Japanese cars and trucks. Hasegawa has made some very nice kits from that era. But only in RHD, Japanese market version of those vehicles. I'd just like to see some U.S. market version of those same cars. They've got the kits. How tooling some extra parts to a U.S. version of those cars? Their Toyota 2000GT and 1st generation Toyota Celicas I believe would be good sellers in this country, with the parts to convert them into U.S. spec versions.

Another scale building kit I just finished. It Model Motoring's HO Judges Stand. A repop of the old Aurora kit. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I'm so pleased I also ordered they're reissue of the Curved Bleachers. And wish they would reissue, or I could find, the Dual Pit Stop and Grand Stand.

Moebius Models Under New Ownership
unclescott58 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure what to make of this news. I love Moebuis Models. And I've been happy with the few Pegasus kits I've gotten over the years. So I'm hoping this really changes things very little. Their sci-fi and figure models complement each other quite well. -
I requested a LHD Toyota 2000GT. And a version of the '71 - '72 Toyota Celica as it appeared on the U.S. market at the time. It would be easy for Hasagawa to do both kits, since they have RHD Japanese versions of the kits in their inventory. I do think the Japanese manufacturers are missing the boat on not offering U.S. spec versions of Japanese vehicles. I'd like to build cars of stuff that was actually seen in the dealerships, and on the roads here.

One of my favorite Daniel's kits. I love the way mine turn out. I built this one about two or three years ago. -
SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...
unclescott58 replied to AC Norton's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
In general, I like Chad's videos. But, I had two problems with this one. 1. There was nothing I'm interested in picking up. 2. Chad's microphone technique was off. When talking, he needs to continue talking into the mic. So nothing excites me from Round 2 for this month of March. That's okay. I need to slow down on buying models. And build what I've got. -
I don't know how I feel about this one. The rotating stand interests me, more than the kit itself.

Okay. I get it now. The string tie version, looks like a stick figure. A little funny. A little lame too. But, now I understand. -

I went to a local Popeyes for chicken one Saturday night a while back, and they were out of chicken. I question how this happens? Bad management on the store level, not preparing for a busy Saturday night? When chicken is your main thing, you should keep enough chicken around. Or have a way to get more if your starting to run out of chicken. The local Popeyes is the only time I've seen this happen. And I've seen and experienced other problems with that store. I've never had problems with other Popeyes. Talking about a shortage of chicken. One of my favorite places for chicken use to Culver's restaurants. A little over a year ago, they discontinued they're fried chicken dinners. At least locally. Despite how good their other food is, I'm still missing their chicken. They had the best fried chicken. -

I don't understand? What's wrong with his head versus body ratio in the above logo? It looks fine to me.
