  1. I just got done watching all three videos above. To be honest, I understood very little of what I was seeing. It looks exciting. But, how can I truly use it in my hobby of model car building? Or how can a manufacture use use it in providing me parts in this hobby now? And for home use? We have one member in our local model car club who is having custom made parts being made by a 3-D printer for a large scale model car he is building. The last few months he has been bringing in some impressive stuff to show us. I've been blown away by what I've seen. But, is this practical from the adverage model builder right now? Or the adverage consumer in general? He has to have someone make the parts for him. He is presently unable to do it himself at home. We're looking at the future. I can see where it will be practical for fairly large manufactures to use something like we were shown in the above videos, in the near future. But, I can not see a way, yet, of making it practical for home use, for the type of things I would like to make. I hope I'm wrong. It would be cool to cast entire kits or parts at home. One last thing. I'm curious about what the guy in the last video said about doing 3-D printing in metal in the near future. Plastic is one thing. Other materials is another interesting step forward. Printing things on a molecular level, arranging atoms, could really change things. I wonder how far away that is? And how that will change the world? Again, pretty exciting.
  2. No problems for me with the above link. If the link does work for you, its well worth going to. Wow! Great bits of history.
  3. Don't ask many adults to either.
  4. By far my favorite paint. Worth the extra price of every can to me. I like their bottled paint too. Tamiya makes great paint.
  5. Dito. You've hit the nail on the head. (And not the Buick Nailhead. Which I'm still happy with in the roadster kit.)
  6. Nice job, on a very cool kit of one of great looking cars of all time. I've always loved Chrysler's Turbine, and JoHan's detailed kit of the car. One of my favorite kits. Have built several over the years. And I still have an unbuilt one waiting in the wings. It's in mint condition, other than its missing all of the glass for some reason? And the kit was sealed when I got it!
  7. That's what I was going to say.
  8. Very nice.
  9. Looks great!
  10. I got the Ertl reissue molded in black last month. It does not have the hood shown on box of Rod Shop version. I've always wondered, could the Rod Shop version be built as a stock Corvette like the other versions of the kit? MPC's 1/16th scale '63 Corvette is one of my all time favorite kits. And the one I recently picked up will be built stock.
  11. Again, I always amazed at how knowledgeable and helpful people at this site can be. Even though I have no plans to use the supercharger on either of my Revell 57's, I found the above very interesting. And I've learned something new.
  12. Access is the main problem. That and getting the tubing to slip on to the part. It's a tight fit in more than one way. Tight to get at. And the tubing is tight, hard to install over the part it goes on to.
  13. Also Bud Collyer.
  14. CARD FACTS On a deck of card, the king of spades represents David, King of Israel; Clubs represent Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia; Hearts is Charlemagne, King of France; and Diamonds is Caesar Augustus, Emperor of Rome. The symbols on a deck of cards were invented to represent the four classes of men: hearts represented the clergy; spades for warriors; clubs were originally leaves and represented the peasants; and merchants were represented by diamonds. This design was invented around 1392. The word spades comes from the Spanish word for sword, "espada." Clover comes from the Anglo-Saxon word "cloefer" meaning club. Hercules had a club which had three heads, and the clover plant has bracts of three leaves. The club on decks of cards come from the clover plant. In card games, sometimes a marker or Buck is placed in front of the person who is to deal the next game. Every time the deal passes, players also "pass the buck."
  15. I tend to like like trivia and brain teasers. And here are some a co-worker shared with me. The first deals with numbers and is a quiz. And they gave the following example to help you get the idea of what they're looking for: What is the smallest number spelled with six letters? Answer: Eleven. So here we go. 1. Which four numbers have the shortest names? 2. What number is first alphabetically? 3. What number has the same number of letters as the number itself? 4. What is the one number using only letters from the second half of the alphabet? 5. What is the lowest number that contains the letter "a"? 6. What number can be spelled out using only one row on a typewriter keyboard? 7. What is the longest English word that is a valid Roman numeral? 8. What is the smallest number containing eight letters? 9. What number has all of its letters in alphabetical order? Great questions. And all I found very hard. Below are the answers. How many did you get right? 1. One, two, six and ten. 2. Eight 3. Four 4. Two 5. One thousand 6. Two 7. MIX 8. Thirteen 9. Forty
  16. I too remember her. R.I.P.
  17. Just ordered this kit from Omni Hobbies via eBay. Their price is pretty good, made even better using my built up eBay bucks.
  18. I was just over on Round 2's website where they talk about upcoming kits. I was excited to see that they are going to reissue MPC's 1/8th scale Rupp Roadster mini bike kit! Another cool mini bike kit I missed picking up back when it was originally out (mainly because of lack of funds in those days). This, also like the Honda Trail 70, is a real full size mini bikes that a neighbor had at the time. And one I got to ride a time or two. Plus I always liked the looks of this particular version of the Rupp Roadster. It had a little different look from the other mini bikes out there, including the later Rupp Roadsters. Now I hope they consider reissuing MPC's 1/8th scale Schwinn bicycle kits. Again, two bikes I personally never had in full size or model form. My best friend in Junior High and High School had a 5-speed Stingray. I don't know anybody who ever owned the 10-speed Continental. But, both are cool bicycles that I wish I could have boughten in the day. And wish I could today too.
  19. Brain rot from something made by Arch Hall Sr. starring his son Arch Hall Jr.? Tell me it ain't so!
  20. I wonder if Round 2 could be able to restore all of those hideous Modfied Stockers back to their former glory. I know one or two of them have been reissued in recent years. So, Round 2 must still have the dies?
  21. Somebody posted this one before, in last the year or so. I also wonder if this is the right area to post something like this? Shouldn't this really be under the "Off Topic Lounge"? I was interested in seeing a "new kit", and I find this?
  22. Similar, but not the same station. And I reality the newer station is probably a more realistic.
  23. A lot of people bad mouth this kit. I think looks fine. Yours especially.
  24. Interesting idea. I'd like to more photos. From the photos you presented its really hard to see if it's a '57 or a '58. Workmanship looks good from what I can see. And those Buddy L gas stations where very cool. I wonder what happened to Buddy L? And were the dies are for that gas station?
