Yesterday I got AMT's recent reissue of the Sunbeam Tiger. Looks like a nice kit over all. But, as I opened the instructions, I noticed that they were recommending painting the engine a medium blue. I always thought the Ford 260s like the engine that powered the Tigers were black. I called a friend of mine with an Sunbeam Alpine (which basically a four-cylinder Tiger). And he too thought that the Tiger 260s were all painted black. Then I went looking at photos on the web. I found a '66 Mk I Tiger with a blue engine. A blue 260. So now it was time to do some deep web searching. There are several Sunbeam and Tiger sites that have brought up this question of 260s in blue paint. It basically turns out that all Ford engines, including those sold to the owners of Sunbeam, the Rootes group, were painted Ford corporate blue for the 1966 model year. Depending on the source, this may have started as early as July of '65. So, from what I can tell, all '64 and almost all '65 (there maybe exceptions to this) Sunbeam Tigers came from the factory with black 260s. Most, if not all 66's came with blue 260s. The Tiger Mk IIs of '67 came with the 289 and different grille. And all of those Tiger engines were painted blue. So Round 2's instructions are correct if your building your Tiger as a '66. Which is the way I think I'll go.

How old is a John Deere 55, or the 45 Hugh mentioned? I'm guessing these machines are from the 1950's or 60's? If that's the case, they are now antiques. And so are we kids of the 1950's and 60's.

McDonalds for breakfast! My favorite place by far for breakfast. Love their Sausage McMuffin with egg. Two of those. One of their hash browns. And a CokeCola. I'm in breakfast heaven. Once in a blue moon, I go for their Big Breakfast without pancakes. (I maybe the only person in the world who does not like pancakes. I'll eat them. But, I like waffles much better.) Speaking of McDonalds. No one makes better French fries. I also like their Fish Filet sandwich. But the big thing I like at McDonalds for lunch are their big ranch chicken wraps. Yum! And somewhat healthy for you. Almost making up the two Sausage McMuffin with egg I had at breakfast. Pizza? I love pizza. The best pizza in the Twin Cities, hands down, is Red Savoys. Followed by Tasty Pizza in Columbia Heights. As far as regular chain pizza? I liked Shakeys when it was around. The rest are nothing to write home about. Hot dogs? We live in a vast wasteland when it comes to hot dogs. Their is one hot dog place I like in Duluth, called Coney Island of course. They're pretty good. But around the Twin Cities we've got nothing. There are a few places that keep promising us Chicago style hot dogs. But, can't seem to deliver. And I don't know why. Some come close, but at too high of a price. Chicken. Next to pizza is maybe my favorite food. Good old KFC is okay with me. Popeyes is even better. But, as noted before, nothing beats Culver's in my book. We just got Chick-Fil-A here recently. I'm not at all impressed with them. Burger King. Yawn! Subway too. Wendy's is okay. I like their chili. Taco Johns is boring. And Chipotle? I don't why, but that maybe is my least favorite of all fast food restaurants. I don't like their food or their ambience. All the Chipotles I've been to are too loud. I can't hear who I'm dining with in their restaurants. Burgers overall? Burgers are okay. But, in general I prefer other things. We have local drive-in called Wagners that's has very good food in general. Including burgers. Culver's also has good burgers. And I too, like Five Guys.

Thanks Ron for posting the comparison between the two Mustangs. The difference is not as great as I would have expected. Nice to see.

In another thread here, talk has come up about how many people seem to like White Castle. Reading this, I thought the subject of fast food restraunts would make a great thread in general. Okay, the ones I like? White Castle? I use to love WC. But in recent years I've just not had the desire to go to them. There are plenty of them in the Twin Cities area. So they are not hard to find. Even though I'm not a big health nut, WC's food kind of worries me in that area. Culver's. This has become my favorite fast food restaurant over the years. I like everything I've ever tried at Culver's. But especially their fried chicken. I really love chicken, and I think Culver's has the best. Sandwiches? I love Jimmy Johns. I'm not a big fan of the Subway brand of subway sandwiches. They're okay. But nowhere near as good as Jimmy Johns to me. There use to be other good sub sandwich chains around. But, for what ever reasons have disappeared. Cousins was one. There is still one or two around, but none that are convenient to me anymore. Then there use to a good subway chain, I think was local, that's been gone for a few years now, Clarks. A couple of chains I wish we had here, but don't. First, In and Out Burger. The few times I've eaten there, I've loved them. Another one I like, is Steak and Shake. I was disappointed the first time I stopped at one and found no real steak in the normal sense of the word. But, when I eat their food. Great stuff! I especially like their chili. Speaking of chili, I like Skyline Chili in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. An old chain, long gone chain I miss was called the Red Barn. Good chicken and burgers. A fairly popular chain around here at one time. But, they all seemed to disappear about 35 years ago. One last one. Taco Bell. I love Taco Bell. Much more than anyother Mexican restaurant. People love to bad mouth Taco Bell and I don't know why? I like them, and have never had a problem with them. Now it's time for the rest of you to tell us what your favorite or least favorite fast food restaurants. What would you recommend as a great place to go? Or bad places to stay away from?

There are peanut butter Oreos? Ohh... That sounds good! That proves there is a conspiracy. An evil one at that.

I use to love White Castle. And I live a an area were they are fairly common. But, in the last years I've just lost interest in them. And I don't really know why? Part of it is subconscious worries about how unhealthy WC's food is. Tasty, but WC can not be good for you.

The scale of 1/24 doesn't bother me that much. The Revell '65 and '66 Mustang and Shelby GT350 kits, are great kits. I've been very happy with the ones I've gotten so far. I finish the '65 convertible a year or two ago. The '65 fastback is about half way done. And again, it looks very nice so far. I also have a '66 Shelby GT350 waiting. It looks very good too. Do not let the scale deter you from buying the Revell kit. They are very, very nice.

My Tiger arrived in the mail today. Looks like a pretty good kit. About what I expected.

Not completely true. Through the early teens, and again in '26 and '27, you could get Ts in colors other than black from the factory. But, the '25, which the Stooge kit is, was only available in black. Again, even though I plan on building my Stooge roadster pickup stock. In black. I just do not like black plastic. Going to have to use a good primer if I build the street rod version in something other than black. By the way, mine arrived in the mail today.

Ford GT and GT40s kits in my Collection Completed: Fujimi GT40 Mk I Revell/Fujimi GT40 Mk II MPC GT40 MkIV Polar Lights 2005 GT Revell 2015 GT Unbuilt/being worked on: Revell-Monogram (Aurora) GT IMC Avenger GT-12 (Not really a Ford GT. Based on a kit car from the late 60's. VW powered. Designed after the Ford GT.) So far, I'm very pleased with the 5 kits I've completed. The Fujimi kits were great to build. And they look great finished. The same way with the Polar Lights and Revell snap kits. The MPC kit was pretty good. Not a great kit. Some of the details are not exactly correct based on the real car. But, it's not bad either. I'm please with the results. The work I've done on the old Aurora tooled kit has gone good so far. It looks like it should turn out fairly well. The IMC Avenger GT-12 has not been started. But, I don't foresee any problems. The Avenger does not have all the seperate moving and opening body panels that the other IMC Ford GT and J-cars model kits have. Test fitting parts looks good so far.

The Ford J car came after the GT40 Mk I and Mk II. It was the "forerunner" to the GT40 Mk IV. The J had a bad reputation. Not a popular car with those who drove it. If I remember correctly, mainly bad aerodynamics. Ken Miles was killed testing one. Research and testing then switched more to the Mk IV at that point.

It's the Mod Rod variation that excites me. I don't think this has really been available since the mid-1970's.

If you doing a little searching in this kit review section, there is a very good thread covering just about every Ford GT40 and Ford GT model kit ever made. This is still one of my all time favorite cars. But, with the great thread already here, why start a new one?

I love the box art above. Very, very cool! But, I need to bring this up again. Writing in script form here is very hard to read using certain devices to view it. I do most my viewing of things here on my IPad. For some reason script is hard to read on an IPad. Others have indicated they have found the same problem. Script looks pretty. But, most time I skip over reading posts with it because it's such a pain. I have no problems see any other forms of writing here. So if you want to share your ideas with me and others, please avoid using script.
