Houndstooth Interior
unclescott58 replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wouldn't kid you about that. The only odder thing in vinyl roofs were Chrysler's flower pattern roofs offered on certain Plymouths at about the same time. It was a fun and interesting time. Even though I don't like things like vinyl roofs. I miss some of the weird things auto manufacturers use to do back then. Interior wise, I still love a lot of the pattern cloths you use to see. Especially on the upper priced luxury cars. Heck. I still like velour. Beats leather in comfort and looks that everybody else seems to like now days. -
Nice looking Olds.

Houndstooth Interior

Mercury Cougar. Ford Mustang. I'm sure there were a lot more. There were some interesting trends in car back the 50's, 60's, and 70's. I miss it. By the way, the Cougar was even available with a houndstooth vinyl roof at one point. -
Haven't seen that one. I've notice that since I've gone to doing most of my web stuff on my Apple iPod. I've had a lot less trouble with things like that.

What does "ppl" mean? And also "WIP"? I'm sorry, but I'm a little slow when it come to some of these abbreviations. About the only one I understand and use is "IMO". (Even then I had to think about it just now.) I also have problem with a lot of personal license plates on cars. A lot of times I just don't get them until they are explained to me. My last IQ test had me at 115. So we know I'm not stupid. I just can't figure these things out sometimes. -
Around here Buger King has added hot dogs to their menu. I've tried them twice. I was not impressed. If I want a hot dog I'll go to a gas station chain, like Super America and get one. Or better yet, a Holiday station. But, as mentioned before, we in Minnesota live in a vast wasteland when it comes to good hot dogs. There is little to no place around here to get a really Chicago style hot dog. Someone also brought up corn dogs here. Better than corn dogs are Proto Pups. They are like corn dogs. But, have a slightly different breading to them. The one place and time of the year to get really good "fast" or "junk" food around here, is in late August at the Minnesota State Fair. I don't know why, but I love fair food. Especially state fair food. Pronto Pups, cheese curds, Martha's cookies, and all the you can drink milk booth. Throw in a foot long hot dog. What more can one ask for? To bad I hate going to places that are overly crowded like our state fair.

Oh I forgot to mention last night, that the copy of Monogram's 1/24 '65 Corvette i got is molded in dreaded red plastic. Thankfully I plan on doing the car in red with a red interior. But, I HATE red styrene plastic. There has been some controversy in other posts here, whether red styrene has some dye in it that eventually bleeds through paint you put over it. I don't know what the truth is on that particular subject. But in my experience, red styrene is the worst color, even with primer on it, to paint over in anyother color. Thankfully I wanted to paint my '65 in something close to Chevrolet's Rally Red from that year. So Tamyia's bright red should work just fine.

Culver's are great. As noted before, I love their fried chicken. But their burgers and other sandwiches are great too. I'm not a big fan of their fries. I go for their onion rings instead. Great cheese curds. Very good frozen custard. Like fish? They offer both walleye and cod. And both are good. I also like their pot roast. The only thing I'm not thrilled by are their fries. They're not bad fries. I just find them a little boring.

Constant paint can bulges, what to do?

Wow! Was that boring. Don't ask this guy time. He'ii tell you how to build a clock. -
I got my Monogram 1/24 scale '65 Sting Ray coupe in the mail today. It looks better than I expected. I cringe looking at the photo of the model on the box art with the dip in the upper windshield molding. The kit I found in the box looks much better. It was interesting to compare the body of it to their later '67 kit. It's just a hair bigger. But not as much as I've seen comparing other 1/24 scale cars to their 1/25 counterparts. The detail is no where near as good as their later '67s. Or their later '63 snap kits. It's a little better than AMT's '63. Though I still love AMT's '63. So over all, I'm please with what I found in the box of Monogram's 1/24 scale '65 Corvette.

Very cool. I too have never seen the red roadster or the orange coupe.

Interesting, the parts left out of my kit, the Original Art Series version, are both frames. I sure this is some sort of minor mistake with my kit only. I've contacted Round 2's customer service to let them know about it. So I'm sure I'll have the parts pretty soon. Besides missing the one tree with both frames, I'm a little surprised by how much flash I'm finding with this kit. I've seen worst. But, I expect a little better from Round 2.

Oh! Your build looks great by the way.

Ah! Okay. That looks exactly like the one I ordered this afternoon off of eBay. I should pay more attention. After I ordered mine, I spent a little bit of time surfing the web to see a picture of that exact kit built. I found nothing. Here it is all the time, posted by you, Snake. As soon as I seen the above photo again, I felt like a fool. A good photo is right here. And I've looked at it serveral times over the last week or so! Wow!

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
unclescott58 replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Just curious Nie. Is that a picture of you in your icon box? I mean no offense by this question. For I don't know if Nie is a male or female name in your country? I'm not trying to hit you either. But, if it is you, your a very nice looking women. Me? I look exactly like the creature in my icon picture! It's amazing they let me come out of my house. ? -
Okay this message is mainly for Snake. Don't know why, but decided I needed a copy of Revell's SnapTite '63 Corvette convertible. I've built Revell's SnapTite '63 coupe in the past. I know how you love these kits. And so do I. But, for some reason I have not picked up the convertible version of this kit until now. I do have a prebuilt one that came in the set with a prebuilt coupe. Had to find a first issue of the convertible kit. Because it looks like the later issues do not come with the stock wheels anymore. I know coupe still does. But, from seeing the box art for the later convertible kits, I'm assuming the stock wheels are gone. Not a big fan of the saddle colored interior on the first release of the convertible. And this maybe the reason for passing it up it the past. But, I'll be building straight out of the box, saddle interior and all. Just adding chrome foil to the hood vents. Found the '63 on eBay. Where I find about half of the models I buy. And as noted, I also purchased a Monogram 1/24 scale '65 a couple of days back. I still waiting on that one. I've also decided it's time to build my Revell '67 Corvette coupe. I guess I've just got Sting Ray fever right now. Which I don't think is a bad thing to have!

Shaking too hard and too long? Interesting. Tempted to experiment with an old can and see if I can replicate the results. I've always though I shook my cans fairly vigorously. And I'm pretty sure I've done it for several minutes at a time before. Now, I'm going to have to try it. I'm not totally convinced that's your problem? At the same time I'm not sure of how many times I've looked at the bottom my paint can when I'm done with them. Maybe this happened to me too? I just didn't notice. -
Round2 August Announcements Video
unclescott58 replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I think putting Curly on the truck, rather than Shemp, is more of a problem than calling the truck a Cameo. A year or so ago I bought a box set of all of the Three Stooges shorts. After going through them, I think Shemp doesn't get the respect he deserves. Curly is great. Don't get me wrong. But I think Shemp is every bit as good in a different sort of way. It's almost like comparing apples to oranges. And since Shemp's shorts were out in the theaters when the Chevy truck was built. It should be Shemp, not Curly on the truck. -
I know there was a model kit of Flipper at one time. Is that what this is about?

Thanks for writing the above in script. It's almost impossible to read script on many tablets, like the iPad I use. Even blowing it up so I can read it. I didn't get your point.

Round2 August Announcements Video
unclescott58 replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Okay. Both he, I, and others made mistakes. He for not knowing what he read was wrong. I for not noticing that the packaging claimed the model to be a Cameo rather than a step side. The others at Round 2 letting the box be labeled wrong. I'm not happy that Round 2 made this mistake. But, at the same time I don't see it as being an overly big thing. You know it's wrong. I know it's wrong. If it bothers me that much, I just won't buy the product. At the same time, I will not be buying the Stooge Cameo pickup truck because I don't collect 1/18 scale prebuilt models. I don't really have the space for them. The mistake on the packaging will have nothing to do with it. -
Airbag recall... giant PITA!
unclescott58 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interlock seat belts did make it into production. They were required on all new 1974 automobiles. The device created so many problems, the law was rescinded by the end of the model year. By the way. What is the ""bigger hammer" theory" you mentioned?
