  1. The switch from flatheads to overhead valves? People need to go back a check things out. Overhead valve engine were developed about the same time as flatheads. Right from the start In 1903, Buick had overhead valves. And they were not the first. The fact is no Buick automobile with exception of Marquette ever had a flathead engine. And although Marquette was manufactured Buick, as companion car to Buick, it was never considered a true Buick. Now to confuse the newbies out there, we should go into sleeve valve engines. Remember one of Buick's earliest slogans, "Valve In Head. Value Ahead." Scott
  2. So is green correct for oil? Scott
  3. I've built a couple over the years. It's a typical AMT kit from the mid 60's. Can be be built as a convertible or Landau. I like it. Scott
  4. Nice work. Great detail. Scott
  5. Very cool. I'd like to see more pictures. Scott
  6. This now may not be happening. The kit is no longer shown on Round 2s web site. Scott
  7. Not bad, but give me Hendix. Scott
  8. Wow!? The trouble is, I work kids like that from time to time. They just don't get it. I worked with one girl a couple of years ago, an 8th grader at the time, who did not know that things like wood and paper came from trees! She had no idea why people would need to cut down trees. The wooden table she was sitting at had more brains. By now this young lady has probably graduated. God forbid. Scott
  9. Dito. Scott
  10. Despite my dislike of cruiser skirts, I like the job you did on this. Good looking model, even with the skirts. Scott
  11. I've seen several models done with this color now. I really like it. Scott
  12. DC has reprinted it several times now. It's a lot more affordable that way. And that way it's okay to take it out a read it. I don't buy stuff because they are collectable or valuable. I only buy things I can use and enjoy. If the reprint or (in the case of models) reissue is basically the same as the original, I'm pretty happy. Scott
  13. Red? I thought it was green! Man I'll never get this new math! Scott
  14. My thoughts too. Wouldn't green be the correct color for oil? Scott
  15. I'm not a big Ford guy. But this is a very interesting discussion covering several of Fords more interesting engines. Thank guys. Scott
  16. Alan and Peter, both very nice Thunderbirds. Thunderbird is still by far my favorite Ford. Love them all from 1955 through 1979. Scott
  17. Very nice. What did you use for paint? I like the color. Scott
  18. Oh.... OK, that makes sense. Scott
  19. I got to spend most the day with Captain Jack Sparrow and his wife harassing local festival goers with my evil pirate ways and bad pirate jokes. Arrr.... The above photo is from an earlier event. But it gives you a pretty good idea what we do. Scott
  20. All of this reminds me. A few more weeks and I'll be back trying to teach those young minds on a regular basis. I'm looking forward to it. At the same time, there is the old saying, "You can lead a horse to water. But, you can't make it drink." Sorry to say there are a few students out there that are like that. But now days in the education field, we get blamed if they are willing to drink at the through of knowledge or not. After all, no child is to be left behind. Whether the kids want to be or not. Or their parents take the time or interest in their kid's, or their kid's education or not. Most kids are great. And do get a good education in public schools. There are just a few..... And there is only so much we can do. But, we keep on trying. One can never give up. Once in a while you end up helping one of those who you thought might not make it. Scott
  21. A few years back, I went to a air show in Duluth, MN and saw the Blue Angles perform. And it was very cool when they came in low from a direction you didn't expect with the throttle on high. I loved it! At the same show, I got to see my favorite warbird in action. The P-38 Lightning! Scott
  22. Here is a related, but un-related question about the gas and oil cans included in the '60 Ranchero kit. The instructions say to paint the gas can red and the oil can yellow. I know red is right for gas can. But, is yellow correct for the oil can? I'm a little too young (56) to remember oil being transported in generic cans like this. Scott
  23. The Dymo tape is something I would have never thought of. A great idea. Scott
  24. Hey, topless women in any scale are always okey with me. But, this one does need to spend a little more time in that tanning bed. She looks a little pale. Scott
