KW Race Car Hauler
kilrathy10 replied to kilrathy10's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I suppose I could, maybe, whip one up.....Just don't ever think about it on something like this one....Figured I'd only make one, anyway....I'll see what I can do.... -

Yes, Sir....This does look pretty darned cool....I really like the colors.....I'd love to see some more pics of this thing, though....It's very nice work.....Like I said, before, it's motivating me to break my, recently, completed model and get that thing to sit level.....Awesome work..... -

Thanks for chiming in with your comment, Sam.....This has, since, been completed, but I'm sorry....I don't use templates or plans of any sort....I kinda "wing" just about everything I do.....It's just like sketching, to me....I look at something and then I lay it down....Just in plastic, instead of paper......But thank you for your interest.... -

Man, that looks great....A bit of a surprise, to be honest.....What a nice idea....Can't say I've seen anything but conventionals hauling logs.....This is a nice change of pace.....I like the decals, too....Excellent work and what a departure from your last build, too....From one extreme to another.....Way to show off them skills..... -

Cool looking rigs, Man.....Are these the paper models? Very nice work.....Still amazed at how you do that.... -
Looking good, Man.....The trailer looks pretty good.....I have a couple of these that need building....I've just never seen a canvas trailer on a container chassis, before.....It's always bugged me.....Doesn't mean it can't be done, though......Can't wait to see this one finished.....Just gotta see what you do to it.....

Yeah, Buddy, that rear end looks pretty awesome.....I might be interested in that, as well....Truck is looking fantastic....Love the sleeper lights.....I've been seeing those around town, lately, and have been wanting to do the same on something....And the wheels came out great, in my opinion....That was a cool idea....I'm gonna have to try that, myself.....Can't wait to see what you put on this, next.... God bless you, too, Man.... -

KW Car Hauler Finished

Thanks, Guys....I really appreciate the kind words you boys have for my project...Steve, I used some thin flat styrene from Evergreen...I think it is .010 x .250 centered inside the curvatures.....Not sure, though....I just know it's thin......Anyway, thanks again, Guys.... -

Thanks, Guys.....I'm glad you all like this one as much as I do.....I'm taking all your suggestions to heart....I still don't know, though....As the race rigs are a little hard to come by, I'm probably gonna do something a little different.....Can't see dropping too much dough on one of those rare kits....No Way....I'll find something, though....Got that hamster in the wheel running pretty fast, right now.... -

Center hub is a leftover from the Moebius Lonestar.... -
Well, I finished this one up, today....I had quite a bit of fun with this one.....Using the snap KW W900 kit from Revell, I exercised all kinds of artistic license....I scratch built the bed, stretched the frame and used Italeri rims and tires for it....The kit wheels were just, totally unusable....Sometimes they work and other times they just don't....Hadn't really had a problem with them until this rig, for the most part, though....Anyway, I made a Texas bumper for it and added spare decals I had laying around from all sorts of other rigs to come up with this scheme.....And, for the life of me, I don't know what to put on the back of this thing, yet....Toying around with some ideas, but right now I got nothing.... Decals are still trying to lay down....

You know, Marshall...Even with these little glitches, I think, overall, this is one fine kit....I can live with the fairing issues and such, but that frame length really bothers me....I just Have to lengthen mine....I'm pretty certain I will never build one that I haven't lengthened....I've seen them with this kit's length, but only with the shorter sleepers.....Not with this long one.....And believe me, I do prefer this one....No problem, as Italeri's been getting away with it for years.....And you only need to lengthen it about 1/2 and inch to make it look right.....I do 1 inch, but that's me.... You're definitely looking good, Man....Keep it going....

Give me a moment to pick my jaw up off the floor................O.K....I'm ready....This is one serious build....I can't believe the detail you've put into this thing.....Just one thing after another to look at on this truck....And it ain't even done....As we used to say in the Marine Corps...."OUTSTANDING!!!!!"

Oh, this is looking just too dadgum sweet!!! Outstanding mods and paint....This looks great... I really like that paint scheme....Nice....Simple, yet tasteful.....And the rivet removal.....A stroke of genius.... -
These are both great ways to get some mesh....Be careful with the spatter screens....After you cut them, they tend to have sharp edges.... I know from experience, if you catch my drift.....

Dude, you do some of the most detailed rigs....There are just a couple of guys that can hang with you, and I'm not one of them....Very exquisite detail....I always like to look at yours and a few other guys' builds as I'm always amazed at the level of detail....Great job, Man.... -
That's a great idea about the scribing of the inside of the cab fairings....I wondered about this detail omission, myself.....But in the end, I decided if I tried to make it just "a little bit better" as my dad always puts it, I'd just screw it up.....Something me and my dad do often...."Tried to make it a little bit better, didn't you..." I can hear him, now.... You're braver than I am....
