Awesome work on these....I think this is the VERY FIRST time I've seen someone actually "build" one of these trucks.....I missed my chance to pick one of those wreckers from Hobby Lobby when they used to carry them....Kickin' myself ever since.....Excellent job on all of the different variations of the tow bodies....Great job....

From RC Toy to Lowboy Load
kilrathy10 replied to redneckrigger's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
This looks pretty cool, Man....Very cool....Amazing what you can do with a toy, these days.....They come pretty close in quite a few cases.....I agree.....This is good enough...I've done a couple of toys up for loads......Jada has an excavator that looks awesome after a few tweaks......I've seen quite a few guys paint them to resemble CATs....Just the repainting of the tracks and main body makes it work........Can't wait to see it on the back of your lowboy whenever you get that set up.... -

That's a great idea for a load.....Very nice scratching going on....Great job.... As a side note: I find myself at the dollar store all the time looking for little goodies like those wheels you got.....I've found all sorts of things.... Awesome job on that trailer, as well.....I really have to build something like that..... -

Man, this is just too cool.....Awesome, awesome work on that hood.....The whole truck is a feat of engineering.....Beautiful.....I can't think of enough words to describe how good this is......Maybe after I pick my jaw up off the floor, I'll have some......WOW !!!! -
They're both looking pretty good.....Everything is very clean.....Looks like you've been doing it all your life....I like the heat wear on the exhaust for the IH.....Great job...Can't wait to see what you do with these babies....

LOL !!!!! Aww, Man.....I feel for you....I experienced a little heart ache, but you experienced actual pain......I guess it could have been worse for me..... I feel better, already.....

Now, THAT would be cool......I'm really thinking about doing something along those lines for a build.....Another builder has posted some really nice old cabover haulers on this site since I posted my reply that would be nice to haul this thing, as well.....Again, excellent work, Man....

Sorry to hear about those frustrating mishaps.....I've had a few of those happen, myself.....I'll never forget the time I was building an old Scania cabover.....I built the engine and painted it up real fine.....I don't know what possessed me to put it on the bumper of the truck to dry...Still trying to figure that one out.......The next day, I went to work as normal.....Couldn't wait to get home to finish it up.....Well....You should have seen me trying to figure out where my dadgum engine went....Then, I remembered putting it on the bumper..... So....With flashlight in hand, I found one piece about a block from the house; another piece about ten paces or so from that one, and the rest had been run over several times from the looks of the carnage...... OK....No problem.....I pieced it back together as best I could, and reasoned it wouldn't be seen much, anyway.......Got it all back together and into the chassis nice and neat like....Came time for the marriage of my beautifully painted cab and the a fore mentioned chassis, and you guessed it.....It somehow fell out of my hands and onto the floor.....Bounced and flipped a couple of times before it all settled into 3, distinct pieces.....Well.....All I can say, Man.....You're not alone....Stuff happens.....I did, eventually finish the model, but needless to say, it will never see a contest.....

No question.....It is a tough kit, but at the time of it's issue and reissue, for that matter, it was the least expensive of the two manufacturers of this kit I know of.....I think only Revell and AMT/Matchbox made versions of this one.....The Revell being the better and more expensive of the two....I think that's why there are skill levels set up, now....You definitely need some skill to put it together.....Fledgling modelers BEWARE.....
