  1. Was thinking for some reason you were referring to the small mirror, not the '73up swing mirror... my bad mike
  2. Wanna bet ? Ford also had some pretty goofy looking optional tripod mirrors back then too... mike
  3. Another view of a base '69, from the Ford brochure...
  4. Doubt there was any special reason other than that was the way it fit best when the basic body shell was engineered in the late fifties. The '66 restyle gave the falcon/fairlane/comet bodies a bigger engine bay with more room to mount these extraneous items. mike
  5. I wish mike
  6. Very nice combination, Bruce! mike
  7. Deal was good from this direction too. Thanks Ben mike
  8. I don't mind that and hope that blond from a few months ago made them pay her extra for the idiotic pose they put her in... mike
  9. Another consideration for us north of the medicine line is that sometimes extravagant expenditure known as 'shipping' There still exist some local suppliers that sell at a fair price that beats the toll charged by most online suppliers and when I find one, I try to support them. The chance to talk with fellow modellers is a plus at times too. Even with extra bucks spent, the bridge-building and friendships developed can be worth it. This even applies to trading stuff across the line sometimes. mike
  10. I've heard it said 'if you can't win the race, make the winner break the record!' mike
  11. A kit just sent to the eastern states was fifteen US tracked; non-tracked is two or three bucks cheaper. Haven't lost one yet... (touch wood) mike
  12. Sounds kinda like some offerings alright... mike
  13. If the packet fits through the mail slot, I can send parts to anywhere in the US for less than five bucks. Due to our postal piracy here, it actually costs me more to send anywhere east of the lakehead than it does to most places south of the line. I see that current cost on usps (checked both VA & CA for sample pricing) to send a twenty ounce package first class international is about fifteen bucks, which matches current southbound shipping from here. As there's basically no difference in shipping rates from a fair seller on the big auction site, I'd choose first to do a trade here if suitable (ie-unavailable from local sources) mike
  14. Nice clean build! Makes me want to dig out my old 123 and redo it mike
  15. Ah, yes... the two headlight crown vic, with the little park lights in the grill that struck terror in the heart of many a newly minted driver when spotted in the mirror back then With a little finessing, that's going to be a great item, DEL. mike
  16. Out of all the 67-72s I've seen, the combination in my avatar, with the white as primary color, actually seems much rarer than the opposite combination with non-white primary. A look at my (still) factory painted red top/white bottom fenders shows them to have had the red painted first; opposite to what the process on the truck looked like. Gonna have to find another one to check out. mike
  17. ...or use a coupe to convert the fastback Talk about your stalled projects; I did this surgery about thirty years ago and basically the only movement since was acquiring an interior from missing link mike
  18. In parting out a couple of '68 F100s with white roof and lower panels and red middle a few years ago, I'd noticed that it looks like the white was painted first, then the lower panels and roof masked so they could paint the red through the interior, back of cab and cowl and inside and top of box. In areas where the red paint wore thin, the white shows through. I'll dig out the fenders I still have and examine them again... mike
  19. Nice combination, Steve mike
  20. Are those vette wheels available anywhere else? Look like what you'd need to build a decent 'Lawman' '70 Boss 429 car. mike
  21. And likewise, finding a high quality trader in Mike S. Thanks! also long overdue kudos for trades with Dan H and Karl B... mike
  22. And for those wanting to build an accurate Parisienne or Laurentian hardtop, the '62 AMT Chev chassis wheelbase matches the body perfectly. Its even easy to find parts to build the 'Super Astro-Flame' ( ) 348 tri-power that was the top mill that year for northern ponchos. Don't forget to switch to chev style parallel wipers as well... mike
