  1. Here's a '55 I built at 14 in the 70s from the blue car box art kit. The Buick wheels came from the '56. Had no problems to speak of with it and am amazed at how well that testors rattle can black laid down and remains in good shape. Just picked up a builtup to use for restoration of a few missing/broken pieces. mike
  2. That's a great start, Bill. Thanks for letting us come along for the ride! mike
  3. It's actually a '66 Delta 88 with Buick wheels. What I was referring to was the accessory sidepipes... m

    A Canadian Ford

An auto historian friend of mine wrote a great book on these cars...
  5. ...and this poor ol' Beaumont looks like it lost a rear wheel and ended up in the rhubarb... mike
  6. This very nice black nova passed me the other day, something big rumbling through those dual pipes... ...and saw this one, right out of the '70s, at a recent airshow mike
  7. The flat top sides started with the '77 trucks. Ford used the same style and width flare top beds from 53-72. In 76, after a three year break, they reinstituted the short flareside box, but it was wider (just a shortened eight foot flareside box) to match the new rear axle width brought out in 73. The sides proved too tall with the flare so they flattened them for the 77 and later trucks. You basically have your choice of four boxes: the 1/25 mpc and amt '53s, the 1/25 revell '56 or the 1/24 monogram '55. mike
  8. Interesting idea... a list of the most offensive snipers, like a bad traders list nahhh, too subjective mike
  9. Parts layout pic of the Ice Patrol taken from the big auction site... mike
  10. Model Car Garage has the F100/250/350 badges on their photoetch sheet... mike
  11. True, but unnecessary cruel and derogatory remarks are the common denominator and you brought up the Golden Rule. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/104825-why-go-to-all-the-trouble-of-a-nostalgia-look-and-leave-the-edelbrock-sticker-on-the-carb/ A picture was posted with a legitimate question in a thread that soon descended into a negative dogpile with some throwing major contempt upon someone's build because, according to their rule book , it was just wrong. Maybe knuckledragger wasn't mentioned but may as well have been. Goody for you too. People are going to build what they build and most aren't looking for that pat on the back for scale or 1:1 fidelity anyway; they're building what works for them. I look up to you Bill, as I know you care about being a dependable source of accurate information and help on the board. All I'm basically saying here is that nasty negative remarks, by anyone, whether about 1:1 or scale efforts, are a slow poisonous drag on the board and collective membership herein. By all means make critiques and be constructive but make an even application of the Rule. mike
  12. Maybe that golden rule thingy could be applied in other ways as well... a while back, panties were knotted over unmatching spark plug wires and snide comments were made about the 'knuckle draggers and mouthbreathers' who apparently couldn't divine Unwritten Rules of Rodding like the absolute necessity of peeling stickers off carburetors. If the owner of the '34 Plymouth coupe running a sbc with adapted FireFlite valve covers knew his efforts fell under the label of 'poseur' in someone's all-knowing lexicon, he would just laugh. Sometimes negative commentary can reveal more about the commentator than he realizes... mike
  13. Looks like they have a dana mastered... and the F250 hubcaps are already in the kits; very little you need other than wheels/tires as was stated. Don't expect a flareside, as you can source that box from any amt or revell '53-'56 F100. mike

  15. They're still out there... spotted this one a few weeks ago mike
  16. AMT has a decent twin axle trailer as well. It came in some of the combo kits with the '53 {modified stocker and diamond in the rough) and '76 Ford trucks as well as a blueprinter reissue by itself. There's some on the big auction site right now. m
  17. Didn't those have a very heavy pronounced tread like the hideous goodyear rally gts supplied in the amt model a kits? Think I've got some here but have to do some digging... mike
  18. Plenty of pics on google, with and without trim rings m
  19. Not necessarily, sometimes it's more fun to mess with people's minds... mike
  20. A friend in CA sent me some thirties socal maps... interesting to compare to a modern freeway map mike
  21. ...and you could add an accurate '69 F100 grill to the pile as well ! (sorry for the hijack) mike
  22. Thanks for your time on those 750-16 tires, Danny. Have you got anything like these 15x8 chevy truck rally wheels coming down the pike? Be great for the reissued fall guy truck mike
  23. Paint 'er any color you want and throw a set of these on mike
  24. Those mirrors are just one of the 'day two' (or three or four) modifications represented in the moebius F100 kits. The front sway was not offered as an option until the '73 F250/350 and not on F150s til '75. The 4bbl carb truck 390 wasn't offered til '75 and the large power brake booster didn't come along til about '77. A more accurate booster could be found in the revell mustangs or '70 torino. mike
