  1. http://www.rodauthority.com/news/we-clarify-why-chevys-302-cubic-inch-engine-is-better-than-fords/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=we-clarify-why-chevys-302-cubic-inch-engine-is-better-than-fords perhaps this one slipped by the editors... or not mike
  2. some surprisingly affordable recent acquisitions... ...most of the ingredients for a '61 parisienne 348 tri-power project plus a nice original non-glue-bomb '60 mike
  3. Hot Rod covered the buildups of the van, F150 4x4 and the courier in the mar/apr/may '78 issues under the heading 'menage a trois' ... not sure if I still have the issues here but I'll look mike
  4. What AMT billed as a 460 in their F350s was actually an FE series 360/390, Travis. The exhaust manifolds and intake/cylinder head interface give it away. mike
  5. Wow! That is electric ! very nice theme mike
  6. It's been discussed, along with other things that would be a credit to moebius to tweak. I'm not holding my breath but just hoping, as I make my own corrections, they will consider some of them. mike
  7. hmmmm... mike
  8. I think that's the whole point .. too many protests if they aren't identifiable. Saw a black RCMP tactical unit superduty with grey markings a few months ago but didn't have my camera ready. Maybe lucky for me; the gent driving was all business... mike
  9. quite the gulf between those incredible sculptors of 50 yrs ago and all the hassle our modern methods create ... mike
  10. cornering the market, are we? mike
  11. Some recent garage sale stuff... plus a couple of 14x6 unilug slot mags cheap mike
  12. Basically any decent FE block in scale can stand in for the side oiler. The term side-oiler came from the extra oil gallery cast into the left side of the block to feed extra oil to the crank. Of course, one can add the bolt heads and side gallery bump as shown in the pic for accuracy... mike
  13. absolutely agree... ...even the '67 mustang would be better than the trumpeter falcon mike
  14. Thanks for posting that, Bill. To me, those 38-40 Gregorie designs are Ford's most beautiful cars... mike
  15. The '78 stones reissue has both two and four wheel drive rear leafs, so you could adapt one or the other for the front... mike
  16. Apparently, to some it does. That's what makes these discussions so interesting. A note to the literalists here: my qb comment was made in jest. Of course I've looked at cars and thought of different ways things could have been done. As this particular Buick mill and it's accompanying body was not presented as an exact window in time but as a dependable classic rod, I don't think there's any reason to belittle him for his choices. mike
  17. This is a picture I took a couple of weeks ago at a local car show and posted on another forum. I'm sure I can find a way to give the armchair quarterbacks here a chance to talk to the owner so they can spell out clearly what's wrong and tell him not to do it again ...not that I don't agree with having a cohesive package, but if a guy wants a dependable road-going vehicle compromises may be needed. Lots of good points raised here starting with Greg's, but the owner's happy with it and I'm sure not going to whiz on his parade... mike
  18. Glad you added that 'almost, because without it the question needs to be asked ... obligation to whom exactly? There is a rulebook for these now? Amen. Howsoever, this gent is neither a mouth-breather poseur or an idiot. He's put together a cool , dependable truck that has logged thousands of highway miles with little trouble. It was built by him for him at his own shop and I doubt he's losing sleep over a bunch of guys on a model car forum putting his truck back on the trailer because it doesn't quite match their 'taste' mike
  19. Any room here for the possibility that maybe he's going for the look he likes and not necessarily trying to please everyone ? mike
  20. After taking some measurements on my own 1:1 '68 and doing some surveying of available kits, I've found that the headlight doors on the revell '64/'65 chevy pickup kits are a near perfect match for frontal area and could be grafted in. There may be some gifted individual here that may want give this a try. While this issue may seem not be on the magnitude of problems with Lindbergs' '61 Chevy or Revells' Charger, this basic grill design (with variances in the horizontal bars) was the face of Ford trucks for three years and it would reflect well on Moebius to take time to amend this. Nothing this flawed would fly on any of their other subjects so I hope they seriously consider it. mike
  21. He carried the theme out inside as well. Unfortunately the 'less is more' concept didn't figure into things when he piled all the stuff on the front mike
  22. exactly. and if you really want your eyes opened, check out what guys are asking -and getting- for nos mopar hemi detail parts mike
  23. I understand that; my comment simply reflected soley my own valuing. The man has done some fantastic work and deserves what the market will pay. mike
  24. Beautiful color combination and about as clean as you'll ever see one. Looks like he got the front park lights confused with the 67-69 style paintwise... 500 bucks ? nahhhhh mike
  25. Jim sure turned it into a great looking package. When mine finally gets it's turn on the bench, it's facing a shortening of the over-cab bunk and a side height sectioning in addition to the leg and bottom skirting mods ... mike
