  1. Nice color choice and a clean build.
  2. I felt like picking up a pad & pencil today for the first time in months... well, many years since I've tried to draw anything "real". I picked a picture out of a rat-rod magazine I had and thought an abstract photo of a Chevy truck would be a good subject to get back in to. Wierd angles and an odd horizon angle have certainly challenged me. Here's where it is thus far. The truck's primer black so coloring it is going to be a challenge with the varying degrees of flat black -

Thank you for the compliments guys. Jim - the racing version you built is awesome. John - the kit is the Revell Germany kit.

    Jaguar XK-120

I was in a slump and the wife went downstairs and picked this one out for me. She's loved Jaguars since the Sting "Brand New Day" video came out a few years ago. A little vintage performance was what was needed for sure. Quite a pleasurable little build. I opened the trunk (my second attempt ever) and wired/plumbed the engine bay. Standard green with "bisquit" interior.
  5. I counted 4 cars completed. Did someone withdraw? 1320Wayne's Brut isn't in the voting.... My vote's in.
  6. How to confuse an idiot = put him in a round room and tell him to stand in a corner
  7. Hi Jody, My brilliant wife actually looked at me one night and said "Those bandages in the bathroom would work for your hammock wouldn't they?". So, I/she found the gauze bandages in the bathroom and peeled one apart for the inner webbing, which I used for the hammock.
  8. Ha!!! I think that those are fake.
  9. It's done. My second 1/24 diorama. Hot rod enthusiast needs a little R&R after a long week. I think I'll end up building a cooler and other misc. things for the back of the wagon, but for now it's done. I scratchbuilt the bermuda's hanging on the door and painted the yellow flowers on them to finish it off.
  10. One year we'll make it down there from North Dakota. Looks like a great time!
  11. Join us if you are able!
  12. Nice, clean build. I like the color scheme and overall look of the bike.
  13. Real racing and TRUE FANS! MAN THEY'RE STANDING ON THE TRACK!!!
  14. Some great graile's and collections guys! My graile that I've hunted and managed to acquire three of now (very difficult kit to find for as new as it is) over the last two years - Here's what's next on my "wish list"
  15. I've used coffee grounds before. This is the product of that asphalt imitation -
  16. Gas isn't cutting in to my modeling funds. I buy less of the net now as I've done all of my ebay spending getting the OOP kits that I wanted from years gone by between building and not. I now only buy the new kits I want and supplies at the LHS.
  17. THAT IS WAY TOO COOL!!! Great builds from all of you and in 24 hours or less. I'll try kick the wife and kids out of the house for the weekend next year for this one!
  18. Thanks and Happy Father's Day to the others! Here's my bounty for Father's Day. The mrs. took the kids to the LHS and told them they could each pick one kit and three paints and left it at that. Not bad for a 5 and 3 year old.
  19. I sincerely hope everyone gets through OK. I myself went through the spring of 1997 flood here in North Dakota. My folks and I were fortunate enough to not lose everything like some. Only our basement (where I did my model building and lived in high school) got filled with water.
  20. My BRILLIANT WIFE looked at me tonight and said, "Those gauze bandages in the bathroom would work for your hammock wouldn't they?" The smile and elation on my face told her she was right. I commenced to digging through the bathroom when she arrived to get them for me. LOVE MY WIFE! I tore apart the bandage for the webbing and the hammock's done!!! Now I need my figure to show up in the mail so's I can put him in action tying up the other end.
  21. You can check Preiser figures. there's also a guy on Ebay that sells G scale railroad figures that has a couple of children figures. Hobbies Plus is the place - http://cgi.ebay.com/G-Or-1-24-1-25-scale-1...Q2em118Q2el1247
  22. Just the .99 cent white glue in the background mixed with water.
  23. This is my second attempt at a 1/24 scale diorama. I needed something to display my 39 Chevy wagon rod, and felt a little beach scene would do the trick. Here's where I'm at - The palm trees were painted flat green, then I mixed 3 other lighter shades of green in various degrees to bring out the hi/low lights. Same with the trunks. Base flat brown with two lighter shades to bring out the detail - Today I picked up some "citadel" Warhammer gaming grass and Scenic Sand from Michael's to complete the beach with some foam board to raise the grassy portion. I used a spare tire to make the tracks driving on to the beach and a makeup pad to put the footprints in the sand. I've got other details to sort out yet, but it's coming along.
  24. My first build was the Strohmobile when I was 6. I didn't build it, but my uncle Jim let me help him with it. In fact, my grandma had it (along with my old builds) packed up in her house and I got it back recently -
  25. THE RED ARMY RULES AGAIN!!!
