  1. To give a bit of background, I was talking to my dad the other day about buying a train set for the kids for Christmas. He told me my old train set was in the garage. He'd gotten it from my grandma's when she passed away a couple years ago. So, he calls and tells me he's got the box and there's models etc. in there from when I was a kid! I was about 8 when they were built, and by the color schemes, I was obviously a product of the late 70's/early 80's. I picked up the box yesterday and this is what I found - Best of all............... THE VERY FIRST MODEL I EVER BUILT AS A KID!!! Actually, I was 6 and my uncle allowed me to help him with it. But it got me started!
  2. Drive by braile.
  3. I dig it!
  4. Very cool subject. Should be great.
  5. I got a good chunk of time today to work on this. I've been unable to locate a good picture of the chassis so I'm sort of winging it. This is my first effort at running fuel and brake lines, so I'm sure things are wrong. I've got some detail painting and touch up to do yet, but it's coming along better than I thought it would. I also used the cigarette foil trick for heat shielding. Thank you for following along.
  6. Absolutely beautiful!!!! The decal work is top notch.
  7. Here's the interior on my 69 Daytona. I base color Testors acryl "wood". After that I (mostly - some bristles still wet) dry brush with Tamiya nato brown using a ratty old brush so the grain is random. This is the result I get using the technique on the dash, center console, steering wheel and shifter. I hope this helps you.
  8. Thank you for sharing the eye candy! Who's the builder that does the great flame work?
  9. I got the base of the engine assembled. I've still got some little details to research and add. I apologize for the blurry pics.
  10. Great total package and colors!
  11. Sounds like the two contests we attend up here. Great group of guys and everyone has fun talks modeling or whatever else comes up. It's nice to earn an award, but by and large the best part is just having the opportunity to gather with your fellow builder.
  12. Yup, use it full strength. I've left bodies in it for just over 24 hours and never had a problem. You may end up having to brush/sand some spots after rinsing and soak it a bit more depending on what type of paint you're stripping.
  13. Scheduled for late December that I can find.
  14. One sexy ride. Great work.
  15. Good gawd that's sick!!! Awesome!
  16. THANKS for the eye candy!
  17. New as far as it's been in the LHS for a year. So far, it's molded clean that I can tell, and what assembly I've done has been good. The rear suspension etc. is simplified as well. When I really get in to it I'll be able to give a better overall opinion.
  18. I've had my eye on this at the LHS for a while, and the manager gave me a discount. I'm a fan of Porsche's and this one's got some great body lines (IMHO). Some free time tonight allowed me to shoot some paint on it as well.
  19. Superb! The stance, color, finish, everything makes the package "just right". On another note, the picture is unclear, but is the license plate North Dakota? It looks just like ours from what I can desipher.
  20. I really like the headlight covers. Nicely done. The wheels are a nice fit as well.
  21. Cool factor galore! Nice concept and execution.
  22. Those trucks do look good dropped to the asphalt for sure. Nice rides.
  23. Thank you. Here's my only other truck. Box and factory stock S10 Xtreme. Another personal favorite out of the factory. I'm planning on picking up another one of these kits too. It goes together really well.
  24. Great builds. I'm especially fond of the green Caddy.
  25. Great build. I truly admire Nascar builds because of the decaling work involved. Wonderful work.
