  1. This thing is off the hook! It's sick! I think this one should be a cover story. Hint Hint....
  2. As a person who builds for himself, I can say that the hobby in our area in North Dakota is growing. I've seen increasing entries in the contests up here the last 3 that I've attended, and new people each time. And I enter contests to have fun, show off my work, praise others, and admire the skills of my fellow builders. Winning's an after-effect if it happens.
  3. Ah.... the dreaded builder's block. I've gone a couple weeks to about a month where I don't even look at my bench or have the inspiration/desire to build. Here's some things that I do to get out of it - -Do a simple, box-stock build. No frills, just fun -Build something I normally don't build - A sci-fi ship, motorcycle, diorama, or something along those lines -Christmas kits - I make it a point to build at least one kit from Christmas every year, and that breaks a slump -Find inspiration in something else - i.e. I built a 1/24 Camaro to match a 1/64 Dub City diecast I had, and a friend of mine broke a slump for me when he challenged me to build a lowrider to match the small diecast lowrider bike I had on my workbench. -Ask the kids - I've let my son pick out a kit that "Daddy should build". -Paint - find an excuse/kit to use a new paint scheme or color on Hope this helps!
  4. I love it. Excellent modern day reproduction/update.
  5. Absolutely BRILLIANT execution on this. You've made the total package without over doing anything.
  6. I wasn't going to get this kit, but now I'll have to score one somewhere. Thanks!
  7. Simple and elegant build. Well done.
  8. In the newest issue of "the other magazine" there's a nice article on the merger of Hobbico and Revell regarding seriously creating new tools/kits in the very near future, as well as resurrecting some kits that have been OOP for quite a many years because Revell's saved all the tooling from the kits. To me that was a VERY positive sign. Like many of you, I've got plenty of kits to go 'round, but being the car junky's we are, we continue to buy more and new kits as they come out.
  9. Another great one James! I've just picked up the 2006 Lowes 48 car. I may be emailing you for some pointers if you don't mind.
  10. I don't think the hobby is in any real dire straights. I think the market place is changing. The LHS's are closing up, yet kits are all over on Ebay and other internet sites etc. New and vintage and in between can be found on the 'net via your fingertips. Playstations and World of Warcraft are more appealing to kids than using any creative skills that they may have to build a model and quite frankly, ultimately, the parents are the target for the model manufacturers. They have the money and they need to market that product to Little Johnny and Suzy to make them say "MOM/DAD I WANT TO BUILD A MODEL!". I've NEVER seen a single TV advertisement for a model company during a cartoon and I've NEVER seen an ad for a model company in Parents, Good Housekeeping, People, or any other major magazine other than hobby magazines like Model Cars and the other couple out there. If you don't market your product to an active, or attempt to attract a new consumer base effectively, how can you expect to continue on?
  11. Looks good! I've yet to build a Nascar but seeing all of them here lately has given me the bug.
  12. There are enough flaws in the BMF to ensure it's not a Photshop pic.
  13. Thank you for the kind comments guys. This is one of those builds that struggled in the beginning and everything finally fell in to place.
  14. Gorgeous build!

BRAVO!!! Well done! I try to get my 4 year old into building kits, as much as he loves Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, and Lego's. His interest in building models isn't as great though.
  17. When stock cars were still resembling stock cars. Great build Bill.
  18. WOW! Does that bring back memories! I used to have a Hot Wheels of that exact car as a kid! Great build!
  19. Great color scheme and I like that big rear spoiler.
  20. Watching this come together is great! I may pick up the kit. It's gotten decent reviews as well.
  21. Looks great Chuck. Nice clean build.
  22. One of my all time favorite cars. Great looking build.
  23. I was searching through the forum to find out more info on the MK reissue of the "Funny Hugger" kit. Any definite street date for this one or new information?
  24. Superb paint and color choices.
  25. I love it! Fantastic build. I'm generations behind that make of vehicle, but I absolutely love the body lines about it.
