  1. That's what I've done already. A pillars are sunken inside the body 'bout 1/8 inch.
  2. I've decided on the Buick, or stock type roof. So where do I find one....? I suddenly realised I had the perfect donor: a '65 Olds Mod Stocker body! It's just sitting there anyway. And it's butchered, so why not use it? Roof being cut away. Point of no return.... Test fitted, just taped in place. Looks better now, right? I got inspired by a pic on fb, at Don Graham's custom modeling group.
  3. I found this roof piece. It's from a '66 Buick, so it's the same style. I think it looks pretty good. I got it and the remaning parts from a friend, who made the Buick into a convertible. I'm thinking maybe a half roof/T-top or something like that.
  4. Awwrite man, seats are looking far out! Will be a wicked color for sure.
  5. I forgot to add, in case you diehard collectors send me nasty messages: I bought it like this! I've been trying to figure out the best way to be creative.... Yes George, it is the AMT annual convertible kit, just as you said.
  6. I bought this ages ago, like mid-late 80's. And it's been sitting idle ever since. I've had it out a bunch of times. Let's see if I can get something done with it this time.... Crazy showrod/custom with a flake paint job. Sitting on lowrider wheels. What do ya think?
  7. Interesting project you got there Brett! As for taillights, I was tinkering with some AMT '69 Chevelle kits the other day. The kits have some funky looking custom taillights. They are molded in red plastic, and are supposed to fit in an equally funky bezel.... Anyway, if you have that kit, or can get one from a mate, give them a try. Just the red plastic bits. They have a flat side, and a slightly curved other side. Maybe 1 cm tall, if you stand them on end. If you can't find any, I'd be happy to send you a pair.
  8. Cool project Brett! And the paint job is amazing, a popper as Virgil put it! That wawy yellow divider was a cool idea. I did a Chevy truck with the same colors, maybe a year or so ago. (But it's not finished yet.... ) A suggestion: remove them clunky bumper guards, please?! They stick out like a sore thumb...
  9. I found pics of the buildup in his Fotki. Thanks for the tip, Shane!
  10. I bought this cool truck cab a few months ago. What about chassis? A friend thought the reissued old IMC/Lindberg L-700 would be a likely candidate. So I bought that one as well. Now I haven't done anything other than test a tire in the wheel well, and it looks a bit too big. Found some wheels from the old Monogram S'cool Bus that I had. They look a little too small...! So what to do?
  11. Ohhh, that was a sweet paint job! Seems like I'm getting into the green hues lately.... Or is it because I've seen some green cars here? What is it? Tamiya, Testors, or?? See, the thing is, I also have a '59 Caddy project sitting, not sure what to paint it. This gave me some ideas!
  12. Ira my friend, you have a deranged mind! And I say this with a twinkle in my eye.... I'm impressed with your imagination, and wonder how you come up with these wild ideas....
  13. This is one of the chassis avaliable. I have one just like it in a Corvair. The really hot chassis is one from Slotracing Werk, made by Mattias Parke. It's made of brass and carbon fiber, and costs a bundle too. About 150 bucks! I attended a race last April just outside Stockholm, and those cars were incredibly fast! Here's a link to his website, showing the chassis I mentioned: http://www.slotracing-werk.de/scaleracing/rub1~Fahrwerke~rub2~Slotracing%20Werk%2CChassis~artnr~13231~func~det~wkid~10597842676103816.html
  14. It's a really beautiful slot car! My fellow countryman and racer Jo Bonnier used to race an identical car. On his car, the sponsor was BonGrip, instead of KenGrip. I think he had something to do with those tire studs, that we use in our winter tires. Yes I have studded tires on my car. So who's Ken anyway...?
  15. Yeah! At least with those wide wheels. I think ol' Ed would dig it....
  16. It looks good, I really like the color! What is it painted with?
  17. Ohh, I love the new paint job! Then by now, you know I'm a sucker for candy red.... But please, ditch that silly looking Continental wannabee grille?
  18. It's getting better and better Ira! All those little details.... I only have one little suggestion: Have you thought about applying some decal setting solution? The flames are cool, but they sort of look like they are "floating" on top of the paint, if you catch my drift.... Getting the decals to snuggle down would be the final, crowning touch! I think this build is very cool, and it has kind of inspired me to paint a long overdue project something like this green, with orange graphics. Kind of like that slot body I showed you.
  19. From that rear shot, it looks sort of like a modern MB 300 SL. I think it's the new roof that does it, which btw looks really good!! Now you've almost made me want to get one of these suckers.... And the mufflers look like Flowmasters, cool!
  20. I always thought this was a funky looking car, when it first hit the scene. I kind of like it better now, but that "tray" hanging down below the rear end, is it supposed to be like that??? Or is it retractable? Sure hope so. Otherwise you might wonder what the Ford designers were thinking....
  21. Cool! I really like the injection stacks and firewall, nice aluminum work! Yeah, paint looks good. I've got a similar project stashed away. One of these days....
  22. Out of this world Ira!! Here's an oldie from me. I believe I got it finished in 1976. And it was even used as a prop in a tv series some 10 years later or so. Today you might wonder, "why brown and white interior with a blue car?" It's Pactra candy blue straight from the can. '56 Ford glass roof insert, '65 Riv wire wheels.
  23. Small block, in a Charger? Why? Looks like the 80's street racer style, with Centerlines. Should have at least a 440. I'm thinking 1/1 cars now, and you guys pay half the gas prices we do over here.
  24. You want to talk ugly, check out this one, a Fiat Multipla from around yr 2000: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fiat_Multipla_001.jpg
