  1. Cool updates to this kit. I also have one laying around. It'll be interesting to see stage four of the paint job!
  2. Personally, I've had it with brown interiors.... Why not paint the whole thing tan, beige or so...? It would look better with the blue body color. Maybe add some blue accents. Hey what about white with blue accents?! Your country flag colors! Blue flocking.
  3. Ok, color is nice. I really like the way you painted the grille! That silvery paint makes it look very real, different from the usual thinned black method.
  4. That's a wild induction setup!! Not to mention the real car which I guess inspired you..... wow It has inspired me too now!
  5. It's funny, I've started sort of on a similar project. Gathered parts mostly..... Your wagon looks cool. Wifey was wrong, the colors do work together!
  6. Cool story Wayne! It's funny you said that about the valve covers. When I decided to change them, these were my only choice! I was going to adjust the rockers today/nite, but thought it was better to quit early. Last night I almost collapsed, when I came into my apartment..... Too much exhaust fumes inside the garage, it was like we say "The Lutzen fog" from an old historic battleground. You guys probably say something similar, but I can't figure out what it is......
  7. Thanks Jeff! It feels good to get feedback from a fellow Chevy guy. Well, I was down to the garage, made a new ground wire, and tightened the power steering belt. I figured it was ready to fire. So I gave it a shot of fuel. But it backfired, and flames came from the carb. Hmmm, something's not right here....Maybe I got the distributor a half turn off? So I switched the wires around, putting #1 at #6. Now I got it to fire a little bit, but not all the way. Then my buddy came by, and we tried to figure out what was wrong. He left, and I tinkered some more. Finally I removed the distributor, and turned it back where it should be, plus one notch at the cam gear. I thought:"this has to be right" Plugged the wires back in their right places, and got inside. Turned the key, and it roared into life right away!!
  8. It's back into the car, with most of the hoses and other stuff attached in this pic. I have some minor adjustments to do before I'll try to fire it. Cross your fingers......... I have added a longer hose between the front float bowl, and the T connection. It looks better now. Maybe it was me, but it had a strange turn to it.... The tranny was leaking, so I bought a new pan from Summit. This was done three years ago. The seat is from a 74-75 Chevelle, and was able to get this combo done for me: maroon velour/black naugahyde. From a company on the East coast.
  9. Not sure if I ever did a thread about this earlier. Hmmm, the absentminded professor strikes again..... I have a '72 El Camino, red with black stripes, SS hood, 350/350, old "Americans" with straight spokes. Anyway, I thought it was about time to do something with the engine. Since I was in California in February, and attended the NNL West, I also bought a bunch of stuff for the engine. It used to look like this for many years: A few years ago, I got a ticking lifter. So while that was taken care of, I did some minor overhaulin, and it looked like this up until now, or Easter: My son was visiting me for Easter, so I had him help out. He took the pic as the dirty engine comes out Ok, fastforward a couple of months. I bought aluminum heads, as part ot of the Edelbrock top end kit, and an aluminum water pump A few days later it looked like this: I want it to be more "stock" looking....
  10. I must say I'm impressed, if this is your second model! You sure you haven't done any modeling at all before.....
  11. Alyn, I really like your injectors, they look so real!! I might copy your setup for an old Nova "Rat Packer" that I'm halfway into. It will be built as the first issue called Twister. Guess it was reissued not too long ago. I have the old first issue box.
  12. Gorgeous! The engine looks fantastic, and I would also have thought it was from a real car......
  13. Cool 1/1 wagon! Flat black with red wheels is classic, and would look cool. Add pinstriping, and you're done, man!
  14. That was a really clever idea, to use the tackle box for parts! When you buy more kits, you might want to get more boxes to keep your spare wheels and such organised. I've got one of those kits also, but it's yet to be finished.....
  15. Happy Birthday my friend! And guess what?! My Li'l Merrod won First Place Street Rod at our CCM Open model show yesterday. It's now Sunday morning, almost 4:30, and I've slept the whole night. I should have been out working.... Since I didn't sleep when I came home yesterday morning. I was drained..... You have a good one!

  16. Guess what guys.....?! It won First Place Street Rod at our CCM Open yesterday!! I felt numb when the guy called my name as the winner. I came home, and was totally drained. No sleep after my Friday night shift. Then fix the model, pack stuff to sell, and go to the show. "I'll just sleep a few hours, then go out and work" I woke up about half an hour ago, so I missed the whole night....... It's now 4 O' clock in the morning over here! Oh well, some other day then...
  17. That Beach Boys album was my initial inspiration, and I used the custom front end from the old AMT double kit: '32 Sedan Custom/'40 Willys gasser. But it came out looking kind of clunky, so this was the final result. You can see the old version "on the workbench"
  18. I had plans for a radiator. I might install one later. Guess you're right about the link....
  19. No comments at all?? Good or bad..... I've redone the taillight some. Superglued the same grille mesh screen on the backside, and then chrome tape for a reflective backing. Slight difference, and it holds together better now that I'm polishing it.
  20. Very nice! I like the color too. It does fit the car. But (almost) any color looks good on a Chevelle SS 396/454.
  21. It's finished. More or less. I'll bring out the polishing kit and some wax for the show here in Stockholm on Saturday. Here's a link to one of the pics Darryl took at the NNL. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/NNLWest2011/NNL_West_2011/Photos.html#316
  22. It is finished. Only needs some polishing or so to bring out the gloss. It was on the first table at NNL West.
  23. It was really cool to be there, and be part of the show! And I got to meet some cool people: Jairus, Andy, Steve, Mike, Gregg, Roy Sorenson and his wife, Jim Keeler, Ira Dahm, Don Graham, John Teresi. And probably some more I didn't quite catch their name of. I got my "Li'l Merrod" finished just in time. I'll admit it needs some polishing to bring the gloss up. Something for our upcoming show here in Stockholm in a week. Minor adjustments..... What was interesting, was the fact that over in the Model Cars corner, there was a feeling of companionship, talking to people, we had a great time! And over in the other corner, well it seemed a bit dull.... I scored some rare kits: Revell '57 Ford Country Squire, MPC '67 Corvette - first issue, like new almost, AMT Astro 1. And some other stuff. There were some amazing models on display!! Incredible paint jobs that really blew me away! The lowriders were the ones with the wildest paint jobs. I have to try something like that in the future.... I had a great time, thanks!
  24. Wow, four hours left until my boss comes to pick me up, and take me to the airport!! I still have to shoot some clear on all the body parts.... Painted the new blower scoop a couple hours ago. I'll see some of you guys at the NNL West!
