  1. Ouch, reminds me of an old AMT '66 Impala I painted some 40+ years ago. Light blue, with all kinds of colors spattered like this. I then made a hole in the backseat, and inserted a firecracker.... I was only 11 or 12.... Good luck fixing up the Chevelle! I'll be following this.
  2. Cool car to make a model of. I would remove the scoop base, and fill the hood with styrene, so those injector stacks are fully visible. Like on the real thing. Why almost hide those cool injection tubes? It will be some more work, but worth it in the end, trust me. I've always thought these things are manly....cool, whatever you want to call it.
  3. If that's your first candy paint job using an airbrush, and also incorporating ghost flames, I'd say you did a d....mned good job!! Let me guess, you used different shades of base coats? That's something I've been thinking about doing. Some day....
  4. My thoughts exactly. Get some scale 19/(23) inch wheels, and you'll be fine.
  5. Interesting project! I own a '72 El Camino, and was wondering if you were going to add some inner side panels to the bed.... That would be the final touch, and also hide those screw bosses. Look at some real "Elkys", and you'll see what I mean. Or take a peek in a '59 El Camino kit. Oh yeah, do you know the baking soda trick with CA? Just add some baking soda on top of your CA joint, and it will add strength. It also makes the glue dry instantly. You can repair all sorts of stuff this way. Even big holes. Tape the hole from the outside, then add CA and baking soda in two layers. Let dry, remove the tape, and the turn signal lens for the '62 Chevy wagon (in my case) was in one piece. Maybe not 100% in looks, but it was repaired!
  6. Looks pretty good so far, but it looks like you need to do some more filling and sanding in order to get that perfect base. Candy is unforgiving if the base coat isn't perfect....
  7. Ohhh jeeezz man, it's creepy as _ _ _ _ man ....! I wouldn't want to meet that thing in a dark alley! It could be out of some horror movie; "The Rodent's Revenge" add your favorite soundtrack.... But please, don't go overboard with this "fill in doorlines" thing. It looks unnatural on a white car. Try filling some white over the black, and you might get it right. Or less cartoonish....
  8. Cool, it's different, but I kind of like it! I'm getting flashes from TV/movies like Batman and Streets of Fire, where you might see something like this cruise by in the background.....
  9. Thanks again guys. Those last minute trashings before a show are never any good. It didn't get finished, but I brought it for display at my vendor table, so I could show some progress.... I'm quite pleased with it so far.
  10. Ok guys, thanks for your positive comments! Graphic time, I thought about using the Slixx checkerboard wave, but it cracked and split in five places....!! Ohh no Back to the decal box, and finally decided to use these. I called my LHS that caters mostly to R/C stuff, and they ordered this thin yellow stripe tape for me. Got it today, and it made all the difference! Just been clearcoated, here it is sitting in the sun on my balcony.
  11. I started this one years ago. About two years ago, when my son was here, he decided he wanted to build one, so I dug out this one and thought I should finish it. I came halfway, because the Chevy engine orange paint took some time drying..... Now it's been sitting... The other day I got inspired to finish it - contest coming up Saturday.... Masked off the bottom part and sprayed some purple metallic. It needs a yellow stripe between the colors, and I'll probably add some graphics.
  12. On this one the different size wheels work! Guess it sits better than the "Oldscamino"....
  13. I liked it better with 19's all around....!
  14. Wow, great job, workmanship, not to mention the photography. I almost thought it was the real thing.....! Really impressive.
  15. Sorry if I "rain on your parade", but I never liked this kit. Those front wheel openings could use some surgery, and the front bumper..... you fixed that. The roof looks a bit too short, needs to be extended maybe 1/8 of an inch, or cut it off and make a convertible.... This kit was made around 1976-77, when Monogram also made the '66 Chevelle with tilt front end, and that horrible '69 Camaro. I built the Chevelle and Camaro for the swedish importer of Monogram kits, back in '77. It's amazing that "Revellogram" still pops these kits, when they have much better versions in their lineup....
  16. Woohoo, Mattias was in the lead for a little while!! Now he's up there..... Boy, do I - and a lot of swedish race fans feel proud!!
  17. Hej Kim, and all you guys! Yes I heard about Jan Magnussen. This is soo cool, two Scandinavian drivers in NASCAR!!!! Soccer, world champ..... forget it, I'm not interested in other sports anyway. Booring....
  18. Oh come on you guys, jeeezzz man! This is so old Not bloody likely.... he was probably busy driving the wheels off some car.
  19. And it turned out like a dark lime green? Cool wild color definately! I like that mural, hmmm decal. Did you do it on white decal paper? Otherwise all the shades and such will disappear. Had it happen to me with the grille and headlight decals from Revell's '55 Chevy Pro Sportsman, that I got copied. When I slid the decals onto my model- a very different car...., I got a black grille instead of with "chrome".
  20. Hey, that was really cool!!
  21. Yeah, thanks from me too, I recently got the other version "Joe's service".... and I thought those gas pumps looked huge! Compared to what I'd bought some time before. A set of two pumps on a small island, cones and other stuff. But those pumps were replicas of 30's pumps. Guess they were more slender. I have some ideas to also build some gas station diorama, some day.....
  22. Cool project you got there, but..... A rhd dash?? Have you guys driven a rhd car? It's strange sitting on the "wrong" side driving. And for me, it was when a friend and me went to England in '91. We rented a car and took off.... It felt really weird at first, but I got into it- sort of, after a couple of hours. Ok, the Corvette Summer car I made a model of was rhd.
  23. For the first time, a Swedish driver will race in NASCAR. Mattias Ekström, who is a DTM champion, usually races his Audi with Red Bull livery. So he'll be in the #83 car. He'll be racing this coming Sunday at Sonoma. He did very well in testing the car, getting to know it and the track. This guy can drive the wheels off just about any car.... You can bet we are excited over here!
  24. Ohh yes that's a nice color!! I'm for some sort of five spokes, be it Cragars or the Pegasus. They will fill those large wheel wells....
  25. Thanks for the info guys, but I got the impression the Auto World #54 car was painted a special shade of orange.
