  1. I discovered that "May-no sale" factor. Had stuff out on our Swedish version of ebay. It's called Tradera. I must have thought really backwards when I set the time for the auctions to end. Between 2 and 4 in the afternoon on Sunday the 16th. And it was a big holiday over here as well.... Many bids were downright ridiculous! Got so disgusted and disappointed.... And it seems over here, many people are "controlled" by when they get their paycheck. Usually by today, the 25th each month. I'm going to a big antique car swap meet on Saturday, to see if people are more likely to buy stuff. Cleaning out the garage sort of.
  2. Thanks all of you for your warm support! Even if we are thousands of miles apart, the message comes through like you're next to me, and I really appreciate that. This hobby has given me so many nice friends, from all parts of the world, and it's so cool to meet people who speak styrene, or slot cars. And also care for each other. Wagoneer, yes I was angry as Hell the next days. And it rubbed off on some customers Sat nite.... As to some new career, I haven't really looked that much into it. But it's long overdue. Thanks again you guys!
  3. You begin to wonder, or think about doing something else. I was assaulted and beaten Thursday night, by some crazy customer. We had an argument about which way I should have taken to his destination. I got mad and stepped on it, he called the cops, saying I was going fast. Then he yelled at me to stop "not here, I can't stop in the middle of the road" so I pulled over at a bus stop. Stopped the meter, and told him to get out of the car. But he wanted to go further, to his street. So I continued, he yelled stop.... I pull over at the next bus stop, and again told him to get out, call another cab. I finally thought to go towards a place, three gas stations, where I know there's usually other taxi cabs, and sometimes cops. By this time the guy was calling the cops again.... as we got close to the gas stations, he said that he was scared. "Serves you right" I thought. Told him "I'll just drive to hell" (smash the car) slammed on the brakes, then he hit me, yelling stop all the time, tearing and grabbing at everything; the computer screen, steering wheel, shifter, hit me again and finally switched off the ignition. I drive a SAAB, so the key is between the seats.... when the car stopped, he jumped out and ran. But I had the feeling he was around the car as I tried to start it, and it wouldn't fire....! At the sixth try it fired, and I took off for the gas station. Called the taxi company, and they sent a collegue, and the cops. Now I have a fine shiner under my right eye, and swoolen temple, and jaw joint/hinge. Have some difficulty to eat.
  4. I built the original kit for my local hobby shop, around '70-'71, or was it later....umh? Well I wasn't very old at the time; 15-16. I just sprayed some clear over the dark plue plastic, and it turned out good. They liked it, so I got to build some more Tamiya models. I bought the reissue that came out in '97-'98, and had it until I sold it to a friend who had pestered me for a long time into selling it to him. Oh well.... But he made a mess of it, so I really regretted selling it. I'll buy another if it comes back. It holds a special memory from that old hobby shop. And also, like george53 said, it's such a beautiful car!
  5. Cool project! I have one in the works that's almost stock, except for another roof. Not Chezoom... Looks like I have to make some "minor adjustments"....
  6. Even more wow! How'd you do the red paint? An airbrush naturally, but you're still bound to get some overspray.... Did you tape the paper originals/templates on the body as a mask, or.....?? Awesome work man!! Sorry to hear about your job, cuz' I'd like to have a set of those also.... Is it a Catch 22 situation? You could sell loads of those graphics!
  7. Hi and welcome to this place Paul. It's a more relaxed forum....
  8. Thanks, I could go to my local Volvo dealer, they sell Renault as well.
  9. I'm planning to build the Auto World XLR McLaren M8B. I have the Accurate Miniatures kit, and decals from Fisher. But what was the correct color of the car? I've seen orange, and in an old issue of Car Model, Hank Borger built the car using the MPC 1/20 scale kit. He mixed up some paint, and it looks more like red. At least the cover photos. I also plan to make it into a slot car.... I mean, it's natural. The decals have the slot track! But what was the color??
  10. They look great, both of them! Welcome back to the new age of modeling.
  11. Wow, totally cool and different!! I like it.
  12. Looks good Irv! I'm really envious of the excellent work you've done with it. Makes me want tear my car apart.....
  13. '65 Z-16. That color looks kind of like Parma Faescent Red.
  14. It's different, but cool! But what about those wing supports, I think it would look so much better if you made them like the original Daytona, wider at the bottom. Sorry, but it doesn't look quite right to me. Just copy some existing kit's wing. If you don't want to rob the parts.....
  15. Add Audi drivers to that group! They think they are hot stuff, and always have to show off or so. Squeeze into a crowded lane at the very last minute, ride your rear bumper and so on.... GRRRRR!!!! That badge they have, with the four rings used to belong to an old car named DKW. It was a piece of junk in the old days, when I grew up and saw these cars. Now they call them Audi, and it's a "prestige" car. But to me it's still a DKW, when they drive like idiots!!! Tell someone you know about this, hehehe.....oh yes, I'm ranting now. And I've had some encounters with BMW drivers too, since I work as a taxi driver......
  16. I guess you already know this is an old Aurora kit, and they used to be molded in red.
  17. Hey guys, haven't you seen my thread about the Capital City Modelers Stockholm show? I had a vendor table next to Tapani and the boys, and I was interested in buying. But I had delivery of some slot car stuff I won on our swedish version of ebay. Then there were no money left for resin kits. Maybe this summer, they will be back in early July for "Grefvens Glue Galore" Anyone care for a trip to Sweden? It's really beautiful in the summertime you know.....
  18. This project looks kind of like a Swedish style "raggarbil" "Raggare" are the beer drinking hoodlums, except the driver of course. Interesting details, Janne. You did a good job with the seats and door panels. I have a friend who's '64 Valiant is almost a time warp, at least when it comes to the Back Off mud flaps! I built a typical Swedish "raggarbil" many years ago, based on a '64 Impala. Looks like this:
  19. Saturday March 13 was the new date for our Capital City Modelers show. This year in conjunction with IPMS, which gave us more space, and also not so hot as the previous place. The Finns came by the boatload - literally, and swept a bunch of awards. Naturally Juha Airio came with some new stuff, like this '66 Comet Street Machine. And this 1962 Ford Taunus, resin kit, made by Juha and his friends. They have a resin business called Air-Trax. I should have a flyer that I got at the show. In case anyone would be interested in their stuff..... Here's a thread I found....: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26136 Here's a link to some more pics. http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/Modellpularn/CCM%202010/ Another link with many pics: http://s181.photobucket.com/albums/x76/Clarqvist/CCM%202010/ Yet another link with lots of pics, enjoy!! http://s112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/JonMW/CCM%202010/
  20. Thanks for setting me straight Charlie. I wasn't sure about the 0's, how many....
  21. About 320 bucks. 2280 in swedish currency.
  22. I bought a "new" car about a month ago. Yes, another Volvo. The old 240 wagon was let go. It was time to finally update. Mom sold her house, and I got a big bonus, so I could buy a better car. It's a 2000 V70, GLT, 170 hp, mileage less than 9000 if I calculated it right. In km it's 142300, which isn't very much for a ten year old car. Camshaft belt was recently replaced, and a new throttle body, new brake rotors and pads, Had passed inspection in late October, and the road tax was payed for one year. Looks like this: A friend had some aluminum wheels that I got dirt cheap; about 60 bucks for all four! They look really nice, some small nicks, but I'll fix that, and repaint them. Then the winter tires - studded, will go om them.
  23. Good to see you back, Irv! The Elky looks stunning! I need to pull the engine out of mine. Soon I hope...... Yeah, that Caddy is sweet.
  24. Now since Gregg lives in Hawaii, wouldn't it be the BIG KAHUNA or something? Big Chief, Top Dog, The Boss, you know what I mean..... Gregg, what is the correct word, or name?
  25. Sorry Jeff, guess I'm so used to seeing them. Ohh, you meant the model....... Right now it looks kind of goofy with the roll bar sticking out of the windshield opening. But that's just some surgery, or "minor adjustments" as Juha would say.....
