This project started a year ago, when my son visited me. He thought if we, or rather I could build a slot racer using the Tamiya Volvo wagon. "Sure thing" I told him. So I looked in some parts box of NASCAR stuff, and found two pieces of roll cage sides. Glued them to the Volvo chassis, and my son almost screamed: "you're nuts, it won't work" "hey cool it, trust your old man" I guess since he don't have much experience with modeling, it seemed crazy to kitbash those parts. Fast forward one year, and here's what it looks like now. I'll be using the backrest piece, folded down, just like in the real car. Then build a small box to cover the rest. Maybe conceal it to look like a model package or so...... Here's the side filler pieces been made. It's getting there.

Scored Some Kits Yesterday......!
Modellpularn replied to Modellpularn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sooo, better now....? Like I said, many were started, half built, some badly customized. But many were neat, creative thinking, and a few were unbuilt. One of the '56 Fords was still factory sealed! -

Ohh allright, I'll post some pics later...... -
An old model builder friend called me up the other night, saying he had "a bunch of models" he needed to get rid of. And he wanted them to go to someone who was a modeling nerd..... Ok, sure I said. It was about 80 models, many started, half built, and a few unbuilt. Many had just the parts to build it stock, the optional parts were stored somewhere else. I'll probably get them later on. Some 1/16: '55 T-Bird, '55 Nomad and HT. An unbuilt JO-HAN Turbine car. The models were packed in five of those blue IKEA bags, seen them? One regular moving box, and two paper bags. How much? About 140 bucks, if I've calculated correctly. A symbolic sum of 1000 Swedish crowns was his asking price. Good deal, eh....?

Juergen, that is a wild paint job, looks great! As usual.....

96 Chevrolet Camaro - Lowrider or Tuner ?
Modellpularn replied to CustomFreak's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I think us europeans have better taste than to build something like that! I saw cars like you describe when I was in Myrtle Beach in '95, and it looked sick with the wheels sticking outside the body! Unreal, like some slotcar with too wide and too small wheels, but in 1/1 scale..... -
Corvette Limousine. Update 11-11-13 New pictures...

Marshall, it's coming along nicely! See how much better it looks with that opening between the driver and the passengers. I'm a little concerned about that rescribed front doorline. You have all these swept back styling elements with the roof, then this new doorline that goes the other way. I can understand why you did it, but to me, it looks strange, wrong. It bothered me the instant I saw it, so please go back to the stock doorline. OK.....? -
Ok, sign me up with the '69½ Road Runner. I really need some incentive to get this one finished. Maybe I'll do something about the "leftovers" too. The Superbird front clip was trashed, as was the Road Runner body. I had this idea to see if the molds were done so well, that the front clip from one body would fit on another body without any problems. And it did. But it left me with some trashed parts, which I eventually repaired, and put together another hybrid: '69½ Superbird.

No, but probably something else in my stash..... have to check. Like this one, a cross between a '70 Superbird body, and '69 Road Runner front clip. Made this conversion some 30+ years ago, when JO-HAN kits were plentiful.....

Could I enter with two almost finished Monogram '70 SS454 Chevelles?

Just who is "The Stig"?

My fellow countryman! He's not as slim as the tv Stig though..... -
Which 70 Chevelle SS is better?
Modellpularn replied to Dante's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've only seen pics of the Revell snap kit, and the hood dome seems too small or narrow. I have two almost completed old builds of the original Monogram kit. Any day now..... The AMT kits of both the '70 and the '72 have the hood flapper molded in the closed position. Correct when the engine is running, it opens when the engine is shut off. Or, it opens when you floor it! I know, having owned a '70 SS454 El Camino.....sigh. And I sold it! 20 years ago now. But I have a '72, with SS hood. -
Hey Zed, here's the Impala done by a Swedish modeler. Calls himself Acres on our forum. He builds some cool models, I took the liberty to include a link to his photobucket album: http://s251.photobucket.com/albums/gg294/acres_photos/

Corvette Limousine. Update 11-11-13 New pictures...
Modellpularn replied to Custom Hearse's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Even if you make it as a private limo, I still think you should have the divider window. It's much nicer to be able to talk with the driver every now and then. And if you want privacy, just raise that blank panel. That's my thought, as a former limo driver. I have met Tom Jones, Hall & Oates, Gloria Estefan, Bonnie Tyler, Björn Borg, U2 and a few others, Black Crowes, could have met ZZ Top.... some other bozos got to drive them. And I know friends with hot rods..... -
Another great paint job, Zed! The "canvas" you chose is probably not the best model to use, but it will look much better now! That '56 Chevy is a bit out of proportion. Btw, a modeler here in Sweden has copied the '58 Impala paint job!

Holy s _ _t Juergen, that paint job is stunning, awesome, gorgeous! Take your pick.... and you are productive as hell too! I hope I can get some inspiration soon....

Corvette Limousine. Update 11-11-13 New pictures...
Modellpularn replied to Custom Hearse's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I suppose you know this, but that divider wall needs an opening, or a window towards the passenger compartment. That opening in a real limo has both a window glass, or a blank panel. So either you see what the customers are doing, or you don't...... One time I drove a young girl and an older man around. Stretched Caddy. Add some sparkling wine and a X-rated movie.... He could control that blank panel from the rear. It went up, like goodnight. Then it started.... All I could hear was a rythmic squeaking from the leather seats for a few minutes, then quiet for a while, then it started again. Hmmm. Then the panel came down, and they looked like innocent school children. Yeah right..... One story told. -
It just begs for scallops in red, with white pinstriping......

1941 Chevy Pick Up
Modellpularn replied to juergen's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That candy blue is gorgeous, Juergen! Hmm, this is a very nice kit, not a bad idea to reverse the colors, or do the whole truck in candy blue.... -
Corvette Limousine. Update 11-11-13 New pictures...

Good to see it sitting on it's own wheels! I like this one, being an old limo driver. I used to drive stretched Volvos and Ford Scorpios - built by Coleman Milne. They were ugly as hell, but "user friendly". Then there were some Caddys as well, a Rolls that was terrible to drive, unless you were a midget..... it had a fixed bulkhead behind the front seats. Ohh, the stories I could tell.... -
Yes I like it too! How could I not, being an El Camino owner myself.....but a little newer than this. Anyway, a cool build. I've been inspired by an old box art for this model, and it's cool to see this one.
-
Absolutely! And that silver lower body made all the difference too. Nice rescue!
-
It looked much better as it was from the start. I don't understand that front extension. Looks way off, please remove it?!
-
I totally agree on that, Drew. Nice to see you here.
