  1. Some more pics; This looks like they had done some test shots, I'm not sure. Ever wonder how they made the two tone paint separation so sharp? With a metal mask like this! And here's the happy painter with a rack of '56 Plymouths! Just some of the builtups....... The pics are now uploaded, I have a bunch more of the paper prints. Maybe I'll add some more..... You're all welcome to check out the JO-HAN pics in my photobucket album. I'm happy you guys liked the pics, as I know there's a great interest in JO-HAN stuff. It's the same over here in Sweden.
  2. Ok guys, here goes. This is how it looked in October '92. Me and some other Swedes had been to the Toledo NNL. I met Bud LeFevre in Toledo, and he showed me around. I also visited the Lindberg place, but it was nowhere as interesting as JO-HAN. I got directions how to find my way to Moran Ave. It was a bit of a rough 'hood, but I made it there. Here's a view inside, as you walked in from the street. Cool display cabinets, eh? Blueprint of a '67 Chevelle. I don't remember the story, if JO-HAN, or Seville was actually going to make it, but as we all know, it never happened. Anyone who knows more about this? One of my favorite kits, and here's the original box art. They were just laying on some shelf.... I told Paul Sabady, who showed me around: "You should have then framed" And finally, some molds.... I have more pics, but right now my computer is kinda slow. I'll add more to my photobucket as time goes. You can check it out in a while when I get more pics uploaded.
  3. Looks like I have to dig out my pics from my visit to Jo-Han in '92. Got a full tour of the place! Even took some pics of the molds....
  4. Cool Merc/Buick...! I've been wondering since I got the Revell kit, are there two versions; one with the Buick sidetrim, and one without, or have I got my wires crossed....?
  5. Looks very good so far! I like the black paint around the BMF, to imitate a rubber molding, nice touch. I think yours will look much better than the one that was built in "the other magazine" He forgot to foil the vent windows, forgot the black recesses in the headlight buckets - you know the top ones are a mesh, and forgot the turn signal lenses..... Must have been a quick stressed build, why would a modeler like Clay Kemp forget, or miss these details on a model that is a cover car...?
  6. Marcos, I also like the Vega! It was a new car that year I lived in San Diego, and I thought it was a cool little car. A mini Camaro kind of.... I happen to have the '72 Vega kit, and a wagon - funny car only, as that's the only way you can build the AMT kit. About the wheels, I'd go with the last choice. Looks very good with those sleeves in the back!
  7. From a fellow El Camino owner, it's really nice to see the car coming back together again, and you're doing a great job! I know the feeling, even though I haven't done a full restoration. Just the fact that you've done it yourself brings out that smile. It was almost two years ago, when I tore the intake off and replaced all the lifters, and eventually the distributor. Everything was in place and buttoned up, would it fire....? A few sprays with starting gas, and it barked into life again. Ohh yes baby, it felt good!! No ticking lifters, no leaks, perfect. Installed new plug wires, fine tuned the timing and out into the night I went for a test drive. Sweet! Keep up the good work, Irv! We have a few things in common, El Caminos, slot cars and models. Cool, eh?
  8. Wow, a cool and mean looking custom! It's going to be awesome when you get some paint on it.
  9. I build and race 1/24 slot cars. My latest was the '67 Camaro, and a Matich Can Am. I've built a number of Rusty Wallace cars; Ford and Dodge, when we had our NASCAR series at the slot club. We've been to Germany and raced. I came in 2nd place in 2004, with a DW '88 Monte Carlo. I raced slot drag cars about 10 years ago. We ran out of a place to have the strip, so it kind of faded out. Still have the cars. I also have a '72 El Camino that last year got the seat reupholstered, and installed new door panels. Still to come is the Monte Carlo dash with tach and gauge conversion, a new stereo system with CD changer. Bought lots of stuff from OPG. So I have my work cut out for me.... The engine needs to come out also. No end to it....
  10. Awesome work, Scott!! I was about to give you a hint to use medical tape, but you found out..... A guy over here builds some super detailed models, and he came up with the medical tape trick. His project is a Pro Mod Nova. I'll see if I can find the story, and include a link. Here it is, LOTS OF PAGES!! http://scaleracers.inventforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1559
  11. Scott, here's a link to the build. Guess you can tell by the pics how he did it, unless you know a swede..... This guy works as an auto painter...... you'll understand why.... http://scaleracers.inventforum.com/viewtop...asc&start=0
  12. Bill, thanks for the heads up on the embossing powder! If I cant find it over here, I'll try the link to that "candy store".... It does look like scale carpeting, almost like the one in my El Camino! Have to give it a try.
  13. A fellow modeler over here took a different route. He used Trumpeter's Nova, and hacked the roof off, then took the funny station wagon roof and grafted it to the body. He also had to scribe new door lines. Not sure if it's finished.
  14. Very impressive, as always Bill! The chassis looks very similar to AMT's Cobra...... could IMC have used AMT' s molds for the chassis?? That embossing powder looks great as scale carpeting. Sorry, but I've never heard of this stuff before. Could you tell me some more about it. Is it something to do with printing or stamping...? Not sure I'm using the right words here....
  15. What's up with Farrah Fawcett? I have that movie, and my son loves Captain Chaos! "Tan tan taa"
  16. Or how about wheels from the '69-'70 Chevelle?
  17. I've seen a couple of real cars over here, if you can believe it.... A friend was in Florida for vacation in February, and snapped some pics of the new Challenger. We thought the body looked kind of tall, or high from the rockers to the tops of the doors. Section it.....? Or paint it black at the bottom. Or some trick stripes lengthwise to create an illusion the body isn't so tall.... I thought the engine compartment looked short too...... Those other wheels look like they came from the '06 Mustang GT.... I might get the kit eventually, after the worst hysteria is over! And then.... I'll cut it up, maybe!
  18. I got suckered - as I feel anyway, when I found this ad at some other site. Seemed simple enough from their instruction video. I tried the demo account, but then it didn't seem so simple.....arrgghhhh!!!! I feel like the complete IDIOT!!! Why did I ever try this?? Makes me so mad I haven't tried it again. Yeah, like I could ever get rich..... taxi driver... I might as well sell all the models, I hardly build anymore. I'm selling stuff on our Swedish ebay counterpart, called Tradera. That works! I'll se if I can fix a link..... http://www.tradera.com/Bilar-c3_180901
  19. Hey you know what, that was in Sweden!
  20. Thanks George! I'll give you another angle to look at.... I'm very pleased myself how it turned out. Like I said before, it needs some "minor adjustments", like BMF etc.
  21. Here's how it looked on raceday. I need to make some chassis adjustments, ride height, guide flag etc, to make it really fly!
  22. You know, I also have a project based on a Jo-Han Mercedes, but it's the coupe. The body has been narrowed to fit a rear clip from a '34 Ford. I've called mine "Li'l Merrod" Strange, eh...? The chassis comes from the Li'l Coffin, hence the Li'l moniker. Maybe you've seen it....?
  23. Awrite, Cool man! Good for you, as I've seen all the work you guys put into it. Cheers from a fellow El Camino owner.
  24. Hey man, that's not cool at all! But I hope you get better, and get back to building models again.
  25. It's painted now. I've also added the black stripes, and some numbers. Still have to add some sponsor decals, and clearcoat. Those pics will come later..... Here's with the stripes and numbers, tires trued:
