  1. Ohhh wow, what a difference!! Was the slot kit molded in white plastic? I have the original issue customizing kit, and it's molded in turquoise. I also have the '36 Ford coupe slot car - resto object, that I'll restore sometime in the future.....
  2. Putty applied and sanded. It's shaping up now. Need to apply some more putty, and more sanding.
  3. Cool pics, Tim! Thanks for sharing. Many detail pics of that '66 Charger..... I guess you're planning a model project? I've got an old factory brochure for reference, and now you have provided some good pics. Someday I'll get down to it....
  4. Thanks guys, I just like to show what's happening in my "neck of the woods"..... -Olle, as you might have guessed, the P1800 is a resin kit made by Tapani Rauramo and Juha Airio, and a third guy I think, but can't remember his name.......
  5. This car might be considered a Trans Am race car by you guys. And I was thinking of building one of the first Penske cars. I have the decals to do the #36 car. But we are starting a model racing series over here, and so I thought about building something that raced on our tracks in the 60's. It will be red. I've gutted the inner fenders: Next up was some flared fender lips. I was thinking of using these in front of the car, but naahh, wrong! So I cut into the wheel wells, and sanded the final shape, using a Humbrol tin with a piece of coarse sandpaper wrapped around it. Works great! When I was satisfied with the shape, I cut pieces of Evergreen strip and glued them in place at an angle. I've now cut the excess plastic, and trown some putty on the flares, to blend everything. Sanding comes later.....
  6. Cool! And what a coincidence, check your Birthday greetings......
  7. I should have posted this two weeks ago, but it has slipped my mind. The show was held in Stockholm, Sweden February 14th. I didn't take a lot of pics. Maybe I can include a link from someone else on our Swedish forum. Well, here's my pics. Juha's cars are a metallic brown '57 Ford - Custom, a candy blue '70 Eldorado - Street Machine, a light blue '60 Mercury - Stock, and the yellow/gold '72 Opel Rekord - Euro/Jap. Enjoy! http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/Mod...ularn/CCM%2009/ And from a friend's camera: http://s87.photobucket.com/albums/k137/Nic...ows/CCM%202009/
  8. Nice work guys! Looks stunning! I would like to do a rebuild like this, as I also have an El Camino. Maybe some day..... I've seen your progress pics, great restoration.
  9. Ohh man, do I wish I was back there now, away from this dreaded winter! Thanks for the pics. A lottery win would help also, with all the goodies for sale!
  10. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREGG!!! Remember this, NNL Western Nationals '99? HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD ONE! Cheers,
  11. How about some U-channel or similar, made from brass or aluminum?
  12. I think I spotted a car built in Sweden; that dark metallic green '61 Impala, it's called "Cheemer", since it's got BMW drivetrain, dash, seats and some other stuff. The other swedish built car seen there, but not in these pics, was an all leather covered '29 Ford phaeton.
  13. Ohh, good for you! It's always cool to meet old "heroes". I met Ed Roth and George Barris when I was at the Roadster Show in '99. I happened to stroll by Ed's booth, took some pics of him, and all of a sudden, here comes George Barris, and I got a pic of both of them. I thought that was cool. Met Pat Ganahl briefly also. No more pics of the show? I've seen some that a fellow modeler on our swedish model forum linked to. Many cool cars, and there's one, or maybe two cars from Sweden. The one I saw is a leather covered A Ford phaeton.....
  14. Ok, you guys are probably going to hate me for saying this...... but I think those Daytona prototypes are ugly! Ever since I saw them the first time, I thought: "are they supposed to look like that?" Strange looking cockpit/glass area, and the front....no thanks! No Porsche ever looked like that.... How does it work, since they look the same, do the race teams buy a couple, and then stick their own engine in 'em?
  15. Scott, I remember this one! Was it from some old Scale Auto, or even Modeler's Corner? It's a really cool idea, and the body panels work well together. Sleek and slippery, something much better looking than those Grand-Am cars. Happened to see the Rolex 24 Hours from Daytona, and those cars are soo ugly!
  16. How about if you install the headlight buckets from the inside instead? Or.... box stock, eh? Maybe they should go on the outside... I was thinking "trick stuff style" I guess....
  17. Very cool, Zed!! You've shown there's hope for that model, with a cool paint job.....
  18. Ohh Yes, here's a late Birthday Greeting from a cold Stockholm: -10 C Brrrr, but the thoughts are warm! Btw, my turbo Volvo is working again, and it went through the yearly inspection with flying colors! Keep up the good work, "old man".... Sorry, I forgot the Birthday card: In case you're wondering about my turbo setup, here's how it looks, enjoy! Hans
  19. Simply awesome, and stunning!! Very cool concept, and everything seems to work and fit together. You've managed to blend all those different parts so they look like a factory, or concept studio buildup. Well done!
  20. Hey man cool it, will ya! I'm not here to put you or your models down, I merely made a general remark about a specific kit. Which happens to be a poor representation of a '69 Camaro. I've built it too, when it came out in 1977. It was a box stock buildup, for the swedish importer of Monogram kits. At the time I guess I thought it looked ok, but if you compare it to the later Revell '69 Camaros, you'll see the diffference....
  21. I'll add some too. The '64 Chevy was built a long time ago, to replicate the swedish car hoodlums, or as they are called in swedish: "raggare" They cruise around and raise hell. In the old days, they were looked upon as some type of rebels. Now it's become sort of a lifestyle for some people, to have a clunker and really rat it out.... Note the case of beer on the package shelf..... the figures are Ulrich Mini-Men. Ready for some cruisin'..... Next up is a Kyosho MiniZ Cobra. It got dunked - by mistake, in the brake fluid bath. It got totally screwed up, and sat for a few years until I came up with the idea of making a junker out of it. It got the Rust-All treatment.
  22. It could be that old terrible Monogram Camaro, from 30+ years ago..... The body proportions are a "bit" off, "bad ass" is probably a good way to describe it..... Looks good in the pic, in black. It's been reissued a number of times over the years, Street Machine, "Rampage" drag car and a few others. If you want a nice Camaro, look for Revell's Z/28, Yenko, and Baldwin Motion versions, they are the same basically, just different versions.
  23. I see you have done just as I did with the rear valance panel, and I'm also thinking of using Cragar S/S wheels. My plan was to build something that could be a "typical" Swedish 60's or early 70's hot rod.
  24. I won the '62 Dodge Dart hardtop on ebay just the other day, and I got it for 49.50 + shipping. Been looking for that one for some time now... but it was molded in dark green plastic....
  25. I found that the top tailgate trim on the Elky is just a tad too high for the camper to sit perfect on, so a few strokes with a file fixed that. I happened to see it while looking at the whole thing, with a light from behind. Check it out. I'm thinking about cutting out the tailgate, and maybe also opening the door, and.... eventually make a complete interior. I'll probably end up buying another of those reissued camper/wedge car haulers.....
