I really like it! Cool idea and I think you found the right mix of parts to make it into some midsixties street/strip warrior. The local hero sort of, maybe parked by some old gas station. Diorama hint.....

Small update on the new year; the engine has been painted, hollowed out the collectors, I'm going to make some header flanges. The front cover went into the dechrome bath. It and the intake manifold will be painted some aluminum color. "If you build it, they will come"...............................................................................pics in this case. Qoute from "Field of dreams" It's in Dyersville, and yes I've been there. And visited the ERTL factory as well. I was even featured in the Blueprinter. Ok OT. Happy Glue Year!

Thanks. There's so much stuff that needs to be reworked. I'm trying to make this an easy build, and use the formula KISS = Keep It Simple,Stupid! Maybe I'll do a major rework on another one....

Ok, the box says 6751-150, and is from 1967. Small update; I've glued the four adapter tubes to the dechromed intake manifold. One can only wonder why almost all fuel injection manifolds were made like this. Simplicity in mold making most likely. But it's all wrong really.... But I don't care right now. Maybe I'll make a correct manifold some day. I'm going to remove all the little nubs, and file everything flat. Then drill holes for the injector tubes. The way it's supposed to be. I'll try to add some degree of realism... I glued the headers together, and also test fitted them on the engine in the chassis. My idea of moving the engine back some went out the window.... There's no room for "minor adjustments", not if it's going to be mostly box stock anyway. Seems I was not entirely correct about how the manifold should look.... Oh well, can't win em' all.....

Thanks guys! This kit has some flaws, and I'm trying to fix them as I go along. The firewall was one.... I'm also thinking of doing some fancy interior tinwork. Then the engine needs some more setback; new motor mounts have to be fabricated..... Well fellas, it's time for me to go out and work, slide around in the snow. Today is a good day/night for taxi business. There's "mountains" of it, and about -10 C or more. Brrrr! Time is now 11:25AM over here.

Cool project. Btw, it should be: VOILA! -
Interesting take on that kit..... but those wheels look simply gorgeous, with red lines, and....... droool.....!

Hey Dave, sorry to hear of you having a stroke. Your modeling work looks top notch! I really like how you masked and painted the silver rear section of the chassis. Looks perfect! It's funny how modelers get the same ideas, as I had been toying with my Nova project. And here you are, building basically the same kit.... Maybe we can share/swap ideas for our projects?Keep up the good work! Great photos too.

I was going through my collection, or trying to make some order of the chaos.... When I stopped and picked up this one. The empty box was my first ebay purchase, and I decided to fill it with a later reissue. Some time ago I also found repro decals. The plan is to build a box art model, not 100% box stock.... The interior bucket isn't very detailed, so I decided to make an aluminum firewall. I happened to get some bonus stuff in a package from an ebay seller. Thin steel sheets. I've filed down those front cage locators, and also filled the space with sheet plastic. The rear axle got some wheel backs. I think they are from an MPC kit. They fit perfect on the axle and in the slicks. Now the metal firewall is glued in place. New holes drilled for the front cage. I need to shape the top a little more.

Oh wow, that's a cool car!! Never seen it before. Looks like you're heading in the right direction.
-
I'm getting flashbacks of one I built many years ago. Same color, but with different wheels, for a guy who had a real one. And it's an old MPC kit, btw.
-
Very nice!!! I'm sure Tim will dig it. It looks like one of those he built, but a different color.

Simply gorgeous!! Great photography too! I guess it's 1/25, but I would think 1/16. I have the 1/16 Jungle Jim kit, that is to be built as this car. Some day..... -
Cool idea with the split window! I got the same idea some time ago while looking at some pics of a model in the other magazine. Have yet to buy a kit.....

Hmmm, dipped in sauce, eh? That was a new one for me also..... But it looks orange in those first pics. So I thought, "a new fashion color, this orange pearl/metallic" Cuz I've seen it on many cars lately. Even new ones, like the Volvo S60. And some English blokes, that have a tv show called "Wheeler Dealers" painted a VW bus some orange metallic, and it looked really good. 'Nuff of the ramblings...., it's looking good in the apple sauce!

First time with an airbrush you say...? Very good job!!
-
You're really cranking them out, or.....? Never seen the red around the trim out back before, not even in features in car mags.
-
Very cool! Clean build. I like those wheels too, where did they come from? Nice grille treatment, you need to adjust it up a little at the bottom if you can. I built one as a slot racer. You can look for it in the Model Car Racing section
-
It's wild, off the wall, cool, a little Batmobile.... Yeah, I like it! Red is cool too.
-
You probably won't believe it, but there's a guy here in Stockholm that has a real one, in candy red! He's known as the king of tow trucks, called Svempa. Here's a link, hope it works. I have seen the car in the streets, and it sure looks sweet in candy red. The film doesn't show it very good.

Looks cool, kind of like the Two Lane Blacktop car. It's an old Monogram kit that dates back to 1963. At the time you could build it stock convertible/hardtop, custom - mild or wild. Then it became the BADMAN, later a street machine.
-
WOW, I'm stunned! Talk about slick!! Awesome car. Wow, still mumbling..........
-
Very cool concept! I also like the engine, and those landing pads.

Here's a bone stock body from the first issue of the MPC kit, made in the mid 60's. It might be hard to see in the pic, but these wheel wells are slightly smaller in diameter. About 2 mm. They also have a different shape. Those in your body are perfectly rounded, to fit slicks. Here's the altered body, made to fit slicks. This is the "Malco Super Vette", same basic parts as the first issue. "Same but different" And here's the finished model, built in '74. You see, ERTL that bought MPC and AMT never bothered to fix the wheel wells back to stock, they just reissued the kit in different forms over the years. Many years later, another '57 Vette was released by AMT/ERTL. First as a stocker, then street machine. But it's a whole new kit. I know, it's a jungle out there....
