  1. Darn, I should have kept the Ghostbusters Caddy.... Talk about cool and unusual camper van/car....err,.. whatever!
  2. Great progress Ira! Can't wait to see it painted... but don't rush it. Here's something I did on a slot body maybe 10 years ago when I got into the saloon racing in our club.
  3. Are you really going to have the engine that high??? Must be a way to lower it, 'cus that isn't good for handling - if it was a real car. The only thing that looks good sticking up through a hood, is a chrome blower....
  4. Well Erik, there used to be a lot, 'cus in the 70's many people imported Elkys from the US. Import duties were much lower on pickup trucks. Nowadays you don't see as many. This is my second El Camino, I've had it for almost 11 years. The first one was a '70 SS454, and I should have kept it.....
  5. Nice El Camino! I'm a sucker for five spokes, so I like the second set. For my own Elky, I might go as far as 18-19" wheels. But that's in the future... way far away.... check it out in 1/1 Ref pics...
  6. Wow, it's coming along great! I like the wheel up in the air, and the wild look in the driver's eyes. Way cool!!
  7. I sure do, here it is: If you click the photobucket link, you can find more pics.
  8. It's really cool Greg! I wasn't too fond of this body style at first, but it sort of grows on you. And now with full scale customizers using MB headlights, it's suddenly in style, as it is, bone stock. Strange, eh...? Great job with the chassis and wheels!
  9. I like your Chevelle, and The T-bird is gorgeous!
  10. Thanks Mike, I'm a little undecided concerning wheels. Leaning towards Pegasus Chrome T's
  11. Here's one, '65 Nova Rat Packer/Twister SS 454 special truck.... Volvo 850 wagon "NASCAR" slot car IMC/Testors '46 Ford with '53 Stude roof.... "Un gullwing" 300 SL on a Corvette chassis.... '40 Ford And of course the Range Rover in the background, a custom '55 Chevy, '59 cad with special roof section, and a few others.....
  12. A cool and different idea with four doors. And the paint looks gorgeous!!! Candy red has always been my favorite color. Ohhh, to have my 1/1 El Camino in candy red...
  13. Looks good, and I like the wheels....! But have to be a little nitpicky.... ohh here we go again... The valve covers, at least the right side is upside down. See, that funny looking small round thing at the edge of the valve cover, is an opening for a breather hose that goes to the base of the air cleaner. Also, big block valve covers have uneven bolts; three on one side - towards the intake, and four on the other side - towards the exhaust. I've seen some model companies mold eight bolts on the valve covers, thinking that's correct. No! Well, now you know.....
  14. Wow, amazing scratchbuilding work!! Those tires really nail the look. I'll be following this one.
  15. Looks good! The grille could use some thinned black paint.
  16. I don't mean to hijack Gregg's thread. The yellow pinstripe is tape.....! I believe I did a little story about it some time ago, like a year or so.....
  17. You definately need a pinstripe in a contrasting color, it makes a world of difference! Like this:
  18. Hi Gregg, long time no see, right? NNL West was cool. I have seen the story. Thanks for your kind words about me! Freezing? Oh come on, you guys are spoiled.... We had the first snow last Saturday. It's melted away now, with the rain. +7 C this night. Merry Christmas everyone!
  19. I think the wood paneling in the original drawing looks better.....
  20. Small update: I've had it out for a short test drive, and you feel there's more power now. I might need to do a final valve train adjustment, to get it perfect. The vehicle inspection is put on hold until the spring. We got snow Saturday, so now it's not the best conditions..... But some days it can be cold and dry roads. I'll probably have to pull the tranny, guess the seal around the converter shaft is leaking.... I know, I should have taken it out while the engine was out. I thought about it too.... Maybe it was a bit intense for a while. Oh well, I'll have the winter to fix it and do the SS dash swap. Have a new grille, buy a new front bumper, new carpet....
  21. This is a video of one of Sweden's most famous street racers: Lennart Olsson's '65 Impala "White Lightning" "Lelle" as he's called happens to be an old friend, he was also my group leader in the military service. Funny eh? The video is from 1984! Enjoy folks.... Another friend and me built a replica of the car, as a slot drag car. It sits on a shelf in my hobby room awaiting repairs.
  22. Wow John, it looks like a real car! If you place it in a different place; garage or so, you could fool just about anyone.... Amazing work!!! I saw your stuff while attending the NNL West. Your Alclad finishes are stunning!
  23. I have an old tattered instruction sheet for the K&K Insurance car, and it shows the regular stock chassis, with some extra race bits thrown in.....
  24. Wow, cool idea turning it into a van! I like the sun roof, it reminded me of an AMT Chevy van I built many years ago. It was one of those early van kits, where you could choose covered or window sides. I also used the same tinted glass. I cut a big opening, and the sun roof just snaps into place! Different with turbocharged six, but cool.
  25. Looks good already. I can see your modifications paid off! Kits like these are a challenge to build into something nice.....
