  1. Since we are discussing moments of epic failure, I guess I will add two out of the long list that I have. 1. Just this past weekend, I finished building my drift trike (youtube it, they are awesome!), and went to test it with some friends at the park across the street. Well, on one of the runs I overshot a corner and went flipping and sliding through the grass, which was actually a lot of fun. . . . . . . until I realized I had gone flipping and sliding right through a nice patch of dog poop! Clean up after your dogs people! 2. This one was about 5 1/2 years ago and was a bit more serious. I was still racing BMX at the time and decided I would go screw around on the open track after the event was over on sunday. Well, in my infinite skill and wisdom I proceeded to mistime a rhythm section and caught my front tire on a small landing, rocketing myself into the concrete like dirt. I woke up to a crowd of people around me, so I must have been out for a bit, and was able to get up and walk myself off the track. After a couple of minutes, my chest and stomach area really started to hurt, and to make matters worse I got sick from hitting my head so hard. Long story short, I ruptured my spleen, had internal bleeding, and spent a long week in the hospital. Luckily, I was able to keep my spleen and not have it removed, but I wasn't able to do any sort of sports for about six months. But, being myself I ended up getting back on the dirtbike after three months and riding carefully.
  2. An "I'm sorry about your luck" moment if I ever saw one.
  3. I saw one of these cars today with a faded gold paint job and a blue hood held down with a bit of cable. I honestly didn't laugh until I saw the exhaust was made out of an old fence pole and was bent up near the rear window! I'm all for originality, but at least have some common sense people!
  4. Right now I feel just like I am, 18. I'm worried that years of motocross and other extreme sport will catch up to me eventually though. I guess I must be a lot younger in the mind though because I still keep doing it all regardless of the concequences!
  5. Took me a minute but that was pretty funny! I still can't believe the front of the Toro Rosso car!
  6. I was wondering about that, what happened? I was really looking forward to seeing them race.
  7. I would have to say the Tyrrell as well (that sounds pretty funny )
  8. Those are very good points Tom, and I agree, there are a lot of new steps you have to go through to get a drivers license. The thing that I feel is missing though is the actual physical coordination it takes to drive a car safely. There is only one drivers test that allows you to use any car you want to here in CA, aside from the training you get with an instructor, and many just take it in a small car of some sort that practically drives itself. My point is that if we introduced a little bit of challenge into the driving test, then maybe we would keep some of the people who have no business driving a car off the streets. I will admit though, a lot of us teen agers are really good at overestimating our abilities and paying the price for it. Unfortunately, no amount of tests or restrictions can teach someone that it is a terrible idea to speed down the freeway at 100+ when there are a lot of cars around. The only restriction I really hated was the law where we were not allowed to have any friends in the car until we were 17. Not that any of us ever followed it, but it was pretty annoying to even have to worry about it. I understand the point of the law, but to a kid it just drives you crazy!
  9. I honestly feel like all of the "upgrades" modern cars have make us worse drivers. Take backup cameras for example. I was told that every new car must have it to comply with government standards, in order to solve some sort of problem. So now what does everyone do? They rely completely on the camera and think it will show everything around them. If you forced everyone to take their driving test in a 5 speed manual with no power stearing and no "upgrades", I have a feeling there would be a lot less drivers clogging up our streets and causing accidents. To be honest, I have quite a few friends who have no business whatsoever driving a car, but passing a drivers test is easy as pie here so they get unleashed onto the general public who have no hope of defending themselves. I'm absolutely thrilled that my truck and I made it through high school without being destroyed coming out of our school parking lot considering the lack of skill most kids have. We got luck I guess, I don't know what I would do without that thing, it's my prized possession!
  10. I like it!!! Looking good so far.
  11. Wow, it really sucks to hear about someone killed in the line of duty. Some people just do not have any sense to do something like that. . .
  12. That's pretty amazing! I wonder what happened to the missing part of it?
  13. To pick up chicks, duh!!! Honestly though, I don't really have an answer for you. It's funny because I get frustrated when I come to a problem and wonder why I even bother, but then I feel a lot of satisfaction when I can overcome it and see the finished product on the shelf. I guess I really just like that there are so many possibilities and techniques to consider, and it keeps your mind sharp as you try to make everything work toward a finished product.
  14. Just throwing out ideas here, but I would assume that the transmission not shifting correctly and the tach not reading correctly are connected. My godfather has been shifting his (I think it's an 02) manually on the lever for years because of a similar problem. I believe his tach was working alright though so it might be a little bit different. I would assume that there is a sensor that shifts the transmission based on engine rpm, so if your tach is not reading correctly, then the transmission would not shift correctly either. Maybe focus on fixing the tach, and I am willing to bet that the transmission problem goes away. I'm no expert, but it might just be something to try.
  15. Love the Suzuki Greg! I have an 06 RM250, currently being rebuilt though. This was taken at the Sacramento endurocross last June.

    2005 Ford GT

Wow, I would never have though that was a snap kit after seeing it all together. Nice job!
  17. Ok, I finally can quote posts again! I would definitely give the quad away, two wheels are a lot more versitle than four. Luckily, the newer bikes can take some abuse!
  18. Hey, it works! Sorry about that Casey, I'm dumb and didn't even see that this whole discussion was going on! Pic test:

    1969 Camaro

I really like what you did with the grill, that adds a lot of realism to the build.
  20. For what ever reason, I am unable to post pictures or quote other people's posts. I can post just like normal, but it won't allow me to include quotes or pictures. Anyone have any ideas as to why? When I go to post a picture, I use the normal procedure, but when I go to click "OK", the screen becomes "frozen" so that I am unable to click anything. If I try quoting a post, it allows me to click "quote", but it will never show up. Any ideas?
  21. Absolutely, I don't think the racing has ever been better. Looking forward to attending the Oakland round, should be a heck of a show! Sorry, still can't quote posts.
