Show us your Engines - Post Dedicated to the Engine

I'm truly astounded by all the amazing work posted here. Very inspiring! A few of mine.... -
Thanks Bruce. I made good on my word and took a few pics of it this morning with it's big brother Cobra. Had some fun trying to get a little creative with a couple of the shots. The Cobra was built 4-5 years ago, before I ventured into BMF. Built it stock other than raising the rear a little. I did the body color overspray on the chassis on this one as well, even included some of the paint daubs on the suspension, driveshaft, and such.

Thanks so much guys. You know, I didn't originally plan on doing a red interior/stripes. I was going to go with a blue interior and stripes, but the "blue" stripes on the decal sheet looked more purple than anything. So red ended up winning out, and in reality, I'm glad I went this route.

Wild paint, I love it. Nice engine detail as well. Great work.

Hit 50 (54 technically) degrees here in western WI yesterday, first time we've been 50+ since Nov. 15. Last night the weatherman noted that we had been above freezing for 45 straight hours, first time in 114 days. It's been a looooong winter and glad it seems to be finally turning a corner but like Nick said, it's not over yet.

That is sweet! Very nice work and congrats.

Thanks for those tips, Fred. I'll have to remember that. Yeah, I had a brain fart there by not painting the honeycomb black.

Looks good. I built mine in the same colors, but put a set of rallye wheels on it.

Very nice job on that rail.

Thanks for all the good words guys, I appreciate it. Gary, this is one of my favorite kits too. This is the second one I built (first was a Cobra). Have two more Cobra's to be built someday. I'll probably take a few pics with this alongside the Cobra and post them up as well. Maybe Friday.......

Very sharp build, Jim. I love that shade of blue.

A few more shots...... Oh yeah, I left off the 429 fender emblems, no need to advertise what's under the hood.

I put the wraps on this one today. It was a fun build and ended up being one of my favorites in my collection. Thanks to all who followed and commented in my wip thread. There are a couple things, now looking in retrospect, I wish I would have done mostly involving the rear of the car. They include filing down the backside of the chrome tailight surround for a more flush fit, give the lattice work a coat of flat black, and shorten up the mounts for the rear part of the exhaust so the tips were closer to the valance. Oh well, I'm still more than pleased and it won't get me down. The front of the hood was bowed up in the middle, so I carefully bent it down what I could. It's not perfect, but much better than it was originally. Anyways, enough rambling and on to the pics..... Thanks fer lookin' and hope you all like it.

Thanks Mike, I'll be looking forward to seeing your Torino build in the future. I've gotten her finished, pics are being posted down in the Under Glass section.

That is just jaw dropping beautiful and wild. Very impressive work.

Thanks you guys. If there is someone who makes conversion parts for a 71 I'd be in for a set, too. I truly am getting close to finishing this one up. I applied the laser stripe decals last night. Luckily they laid down pretty nicely. Only one of the smaller ones on the front fender gave some issues. Also added the front bumper and chin spoiler. I've buttoned up most of the rear as well. Suspension, tailight assy, and bumper have been added. That p.e. lattice work on the tailights were a pain. Not real happy with it, but looks ok I guess. Of course, after I glued the assy to the body, a small part of the lattice popped free just off the middle on the right. Not sure if I'm going to attempt to glue that spot again or leave as is. It isn't too noticeable. The traction bars are painted and ready to be slapped on. Still left to do are the side mirrors, door handles, exhaust tips, and a license plate for the rear, and that should be a wrap I believe. Finished pics should be coming soon....

Progress is looking great, Mike. Hope your eye surgery goes well.

Looks great! I love those bumpers. -
Man, that is one mean lookin' Challenger. Were you able to catch the hoodlum that threw the cinder block at it? Lol. A great build, and sorry to hear of the misfortune, but you've handled it in a great way.

Sharp build, Jim. I like that two tone interior.
-
Thanks guys. Yep, like Fred said, it's included in the kit. It consists of the GT and Torino emblems, Gt badge on the grille, and rocker panel trim.

Thanks much guys, glad you are enjoying, and liking, my build. Same here. Torinos are one of my favorites of the era, especially the 70-71's. Here's some update pics from today.... Pretty much finished up the engine bay. Just a couple paint touch-ups in a few spots, and adding the caution fan and firewall decals (as long as they cooperate). Installed the front valance and grille. And the most tedious job, attaching the tiny photo etched GT and Torino emblems. To get the GT letters applied to the body as evenly and straight as I could, I positioned them the best I could on the benchtop, then took a piece of scotch tape and carefully pressed it onto the letters. Then I used a sharped toothpick and applied a few tiny dabs of superglue to each letter. Then carefully lined them up above the hashes, and pressed them onto the body. After a few minutes, I slowly pulled the tape away and wallah, I was happy with the results. I used the same process for the Torino script on the quarters as well.

Very creative and nice work, as usual from you. Love that color combo.
