  1. That's really cool Tye! Nice paint job dude! I love this dragster and it does my heart good to see one built! Great pictures too. I was really happy to see this one come back...yay! I picked up a couple myself now that they're affordable. In my opinion, the long F/E dragsters were the pinnacle of drag racing. They pretty much lost their character once the engine was moved to the rear. I understand why they did it....but.......blah....
  2. Pete, that's totally wicked! What a cool paint job! And the stance is perfect too! Looks like a lot of work went into that puppy...I'm with Niko....the decals alone are worth that Model King Austin kit. Beautiful build sir.
  3. The new Revell version is actually called "41 Willys Street Rod"....but it's pro street enough
  4. John, that's one of my favorite kits! It's always great to see someone build one This is a beautiful build too! I'm inspired!
  5. The AMT '40 Willys is so inaccurate that to me it's just not worth putting any real effort into. I mean it's ok for gasser type stuff but personally Jeremy, I'd recommend going with a Revell '41 Pro Street Willys....It's a hundred times more accurate than the AMT and it already has the pro street parts...you can always modify the Revell kit if it needs to be a '40. They're pretty reasonable on eBay... Just my two cents.....
  6. Looks to me like you're doing just fine Pete! I love the chassis so far! I'm planning a new style pro mod (it will be my first of this type) and I found enough reference pics on line to pretty much build it as detailed as I could possibly want. There's definitely a pile of work involved in these cars so my hat is off to anyone who attempts the challenge! I'll be watching Marty
  7. I always thought that the 66 batmobile was one of the coolest movie cars ever made!....(right behind "Dragula").... Those are cool builds Tony! Is it just me or has the boy wonder put on a few pounds?
  8. That's a cleen little number! The wheels look pretty good on 'er too....
  9. That's actually pretty cool Jeff! I never thought of using the Aluma Coupe as a Rat base....I appreciate the quick build and all, but man, that could really be a great all out Rat Rod....the idea has merit! Thanks for sharin' Jeff
  10. Man, with the top down, I can almost feel the wind in my hair!.....except....I don't really have any That's a Cleeeeen cruiser Rich! The continental kit, skirts, hockey sticks and lake pipes are just what the doctor ordered! Nicely done sir!
  11. Now that's imagination James! I love the whole Eddie Munster theme! Of course the skeleton on the bike is the kicker! You did a great job on his pose....love the bike too! I think that's one of my favorite things about plastic....it's a great canvas for creativity!
  12. That's a way cool build Tim! I love the mods on 'er man! I think my favorite mod is those headers....they give it a raw street freak look...perfect! Did you make 'um?
  13. Wow! Killer rods guys! I don't have any builds quite like these but now I think i'll change that!!!!
  14. That is a totally killer Gremlin sir! Great detailing in the engine compartment and the sharpness of the paint masking is beautiful man! I'm also have the Gremlin on my "Gotta Build" list and yours has inspired me! Way to go Darryl !!
  15. Hey Niko....no worries about the clear coat. It looks great...It's a model car and it's all about the enjoyment of the build anyway. That's why I love this hobby! It's 3D art! However, once you categorize something as "Factory Stock", it then becomes and accuracy issue and lends itself to historical scrutiny. A subject of much debate. That is exactly why I never use the term "Factory Stock" and just call it a "Stock" build. That way no one can call out accuracy mistakes Guess I've been to too many contests over the years.... I do love this build though man!
  16. That's beautiful build Niko! I want to build one "Lead Sled" style. I'm definitely not a "rivot counter", but I gotta say, if it represents a "Factory Stock" car, I'm pretty sure it shouldn't have a clear coat. Clear coats weren't used on production cars in the 50's. Possibly the very high dollar cars but not general public cars. I hope you don't mind my saying
  17. I agree with da boyz....great colors!
  18. Man, that's my favorite Mopar! Great build Robert!
  19. Tom, that's a sweet little number sir! I love to see good, clean builds like this.... I dig the color too!
  20. Killer job Jeff! That puppy is nice and clean! I can almost smell the high emissions! I love the door openings too. It's important to make them open correctly and you nailed them sir! I love it!
  21. Man that's the way model cars are...they get you hook, line and sinker! The same thing happened to me back in the 80's. The hook is so deep now that I'd need a total brain extraction to get it out. I LOVE MODEL CARS! By the looks of your third model, I'd say you're off to a great start bud! The video is a nice touch too... Welcome to the forum Jason!
  22. About a month ago, I used the Castrol Super Clean to strip a resin hood that I had sprayed with Testors One Shot Lacquer. It took about a week to lift the paint but it swelled the resin and made it rubbery. It hardened back up after a couple of weeks but it was still swollen. I had to sand it back down to fit. It also flattened out and I had to stretch masking tape to reshape the bow that it was supposed to have and let the hood cure for over two weeks. Luckily I saved it.....so I would very much agree with Ben....Don't use the purple stuff on resin! I also stripped a plastic body with PineSol because a friend recommended it. It ruined the plastic! PineSol is for toilets....that's where it should stay!
  23. You're right James...I did say Revell....DUH!... Well I feel stupid......Anybody got a rock I can crawl under? Or maybe a really big model kit?
