  1. "Maybe this is why they also fell apart on the showroom floor... ;-)" It actually depends on where the vega went, mine had no rust here in Oregon, pretty much every vega I've seen here hasn't had much rust, just a little around the windshield trim and rear window and small bits in various places that are very easily fixed. BTW, Sorry about the quote, the site isn't working for me and I cant post pictures from photobucket either, pretty irritating.
  2. I don't know if you have a technique for making them from evergreen, but I've found that drilling the exhaust ports the size of your rod then making the flange with the holes drilled to match makes building the unit (at least for me) a lot easier. I'm sure no matter what you end up doing, they will look very good.
  3. It's not that I don't think I could fix it, I just suck at bodywork and paint. All I'm truly good at is scratch building and chassis work so getting my first success in the my weak point then it getting broke just I guess plain sucks. While it dampened my spirits I'll go and see if I can try not to destroy it any more and make it look okay.
  4. For the past few months I've been in a funk with no desire to build so I pulled out a fresh kit, the revell '79 Camaro 2 n' 1 and started tinkering around. Igot the idea to build a drag car squatted down with the suspension travel in the front all the way out till its just about to yank the fronts. I yarded an Ls1 from a newer Camaro and some Weld Alumastars that a fellow builder sent to me on some Mickey Thomson sportmanson the rear and ET fronts in the front. I got inspired and started working away. Body work is one of my weak points but I took the stock flat hood with the supercharger hole cut in it and started scratch building a 4" cowl hood. I have attempted this before and failed miserably but I wasn't going to stop, I chugged away and got something very presentable! then, heading out to our shop to throw hopefully the final coat of primer on it, I was heading down the hallway and the hood took a suicide jump from my hand to the floor where I stepped on it... Broke it right in half, and after a few choice words later I took some pictures and tossed it on the bench so later I will decide if I will just use the z28 hood and throw the failure away or something else. Rant over, here's some pictures.
  5. If you don't mind where did you source the slots and tires? *EDIT just saw they're Competition Resins
  6. Very nice work! the door jambs look very good, I need to get around to trying to open up the doors and trunk lid one of these days.
  7. Thanks Niko, I'll have to look into them, sorry about being a bit vague!
  8. Do they come pre-flared?
  9. Do you plan on running the nitrous lines, a coupe fuel regulators, and the solenoids since you're scratching the bottle?
  10. Very very nice! I never would have guessed this is your first weathered ride!
  11. Nice to see you back at it with this again, Now what did you use and how did you make the injector tubes? everywhere I look to buy them is ridiculous expensive and those look spot on!
  12. I've built a couple of the B&M Pro Stick Kits from him and they go together beautifully.
  13. Been awhile since I've been on the forum, missed all the great progress on this, Very nice Niko.
  14. I'm a Roadkill fan as well, I even thought of building this too. That's a super cool charger, so i'll be following on your build!
  15. Looks much better than before Niko!
  16. Today I drove down to our go to tire guy and got the slots put on, now all it needs is a 2 inch cowl and paint! (if this violates any posting rules being I didn't physically get something but had something done feel free to remove my post)
  17. I picked up these US wheel Slot Mags for $50, they're in near perfect shape other than one front has been curbed a little bit. I'm not sure if I want to polish these ones or just clean them up and leave them dull. These are 14's whereas the other set are 15's, the fronts are 14x7's and the rears are 14x8's. All I have to do is mount these on the tires that are already on my Luv so no need to buy tires! Kinda looking like I'm a Slot mag hoarder..
  18. All four finished up, now time to save more for some rubber.
  19. Thank you for all of the information! Of course I knew about the izuzu P'up and Luv but I had no idea about the Bedford,Holden, and Faster variations. Now i'll have to go do some research on all this.
  20. I really love the Chevy badged versions so I think I'll keep my '78 as a Chevy. Either way, finding parts for these things isn't easy nor cheap.
