  1. Excuse me if I'm wrong, or maybe you guys celebrate Fathers Day at a different time of year, but isn't Fathers Day in October??
  2. Well forgive me... This Future stuff isn't available down here & I've only ever heard people here refer to it as a type of polish. Polishing is a "technique".... You still need actual polish to perform... Polishing ;-)
  3. I think you're incorrect.... The current 918 production car ( hybrid/petrol ) was a prototype a few short years ago...
  4. Larry, I'd just like to say I NEVER said/commented that your work wasn't good, if not, great, even more so since you use a brush. I merely said that they look like they'd been polished & forgive me if I'm wrong, but Future is a type of polish, right? I didn't mean any of my comments in a negative way, ok? Obviously you've become quite adept at brush-painting in your 50+ yrs in the hobby & BIG cudos to you mate! Well done & you keep doing whatever you want & however you want mate. Cheers Cliff
  5. What do you mean, what's my point?? The POINT is its been sanded back & polished. Too hard for you to comprehend?? People, or rather, new to the modelling hobby, shouldn't think they can get a paint job like that with a paint brush, because you CANNOT. Pretty simple.
  6. Won't be long before hamburgers come in cans... Lmao
  7. Forgive me if this sounds like I'm a little slow, with this new 3D scanning etc, but it's all well & good to have all this in the foreseeable future, ( regarding model making ), but isn't there a cost involved in actual material/s that the scanner would need to "actually" print/make the model, such as some form of plastic, like modern printers need paper/ink etc ?? How can any of these 3D scanners make anything without the necessary "materials"? Whether its plastic, human tissue, rubber, steel etc.... Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm not up to scratch with all this star-trekish technology.... Would someone in the know be able to explain it?? Cheers
  8. Ummm... If I'm not mistaken, Moebius aren't the ONLY model kit company using this 3D scanning technology. I believe Aoshima is currently using it too & have actually made ( prototype ) their latest kit, the McLaren F1 Long-Tail GT, with 3D scanning tech'.... Cheers
  9. Let me just jump in here for a sec'... Since I started the thread... Firstly, if it was read correctly by some people, there wouldn't be a need for half the drivel that's been posted. Quite CLEARLY I mentioned the car WAS HIRED/RENTED... Not owned. I made NO mention of millionaires or billionaires & how they decide to spend THEIR money. Secondly some people have lost or never had a sense of humor! I said the car "spontaneously-combusted", apparently, as a joke... You know... Tongue-firmly-in-cheek... I was jesting! Clearly there's some sort of technical or mechanical failure that caused the spontaneous fire! I didn't feel the need to add that because it WAS a JOKE! Geez. Instead we get a full run-down on how/why this half-million dollar car must've caught fire, along with too bad for the rich people etc. Totally unnecessary. It doesn't matter what you earn or how much $ you have in your bank account. How you spend YOUR $ is totally YOUR choice. It's YOUR $! None of that matters if your $1000/10,000/100,000 or $1,000,000 car suddenly bursts into flames, does it?? It's no wonder people are fed up with the constant drivel getting around this board & are leaving in droves.... *rant over*
  10. You're cruising around town, after spending a few dollars hiring a super-cool Supercar, like a McLaren 12C, when all of a sudden it spontaneously combusts?? McLaren, the insurance company & the hire company are all investigating why this 12C decided to "light-up" & burn to the ground... Cheers...
  11. Read about this today in CarBuzz.com.... Can't wait... Only problem is... They don't sell 'em down here :-(
  12. I wouldn't say it's "new" news, they've been working on this for over 2yrs. I don't know prices internationally but here in Aus' they're saying close to $900K for it..... :-( Nice car though.
  13. I know for sure Aoshima's new "Supercar/Exotic" is British.... Whether its a McLaren I don't know.... I seriously doubt they'd be kitting the F1. I have a suspicion it's either the new Jag' F-Type or Aston's M1-77....
  14. Look it's just my opinion & mine only, & maybe you don't have a choice, but I'd ditch that Mpc/amt re-pop Charger & start with Revell's '69 Charger. It's a complete waste of time using that kit/body. Just too much effort to get it looking half decent & it still won't be as good as Revell's Charger. Are the wheels you're using the same diameter front/rear?? You should try for a set that's smaller in the front, that way you'd be able to set it lower it the front... Better stance. ( just my opinion ) Cheers Cliff
  15. Extremely sorry to hear of your loss Kevin. I lost me best friend, to me my bro, late last year. I know exactly how you feel mate. My sincere condolences to you & your family. Take as much time as you want/need. There is more to life than this hobby/any hobby. Cliff
  16. Being a Mopar guy, I agree with everyone else, really nice 'Cuda & great colour! As far as the front fascia/grill mods goes, it's a fairly simple modification. Glue the whole part into place from the sides, don't glue the top section of the grill to the body, just the sides where the seams meet. Let it dry then cut ( saw if possible ) new seam lines as shown in the pics, where the correct lines should be. Take out the newly cut section of the grill/fascia & fill in the old seam lines with putty etc & smooth out. Easy. Cheers Cliff
  17. I guess it's different horses for different courses... When it's your car you can do as you please. I'm with Harry, in some instances bigger wheels can improve more than just looks on a car, not just pro-tourers. Modifications come in many forms, including engine power upgrades/suspension etc. if you do all that to a car, you can't very well ride it on 15-16in stock wheels, can you? Better grip/handling etc means bigger/fatter wheels. Not only are those stupid Donks an eyesore but lately I've noticed more of those Japanese style Kiwami cars, with their cambers so far off, it looks like the car has been crushed.... That's just beyond stupid, not to mentioned ridiculous! I don't get that ... At all. Cliff
  18. I'd like to help you out but the Railway I work for, ( since I was 16yo ), for the last 26yrs, is down here in Sydney, Australia... State Rail Authority of NSW. Owned & run by the State G'ment. I work as a train guard on the passenger trains & not in freight etc. cheers Cliff
  19. What about metal-transfer? As found in the Tamiya Aston Martin kit, as well as other Tamiya/Revell G kits?? They could do the job? Cliff
  20. If you go back to the beginning of this thread, it was mentioned by the author, that he, along with many others, including Revell, had been secretly working on this "new" version 2-2-5yrs before they came out ( Revell ) with their test bodies/announcement. When you add that time to Oct' 2012 & the further amount of time before we will actually get the kit ( if it IS released around Nov' this year, that would bring the total amount of time Revell had spent developing this kit, to close to 4yrs. So yes, I believe that's 4yrs or close enought to it, on this Planet. As for the PE/Tailight issue... Well I mentioned that because it seemed like a problem solver, to the many people who've mentioned that actual problem with the "test-shot" pics of the tailights. Cliff
  21. Actually yes. The Revell Pro-Modeller Daytona Charger did... A radiator fan & a little grill mesh... Whoppee do. If they did it back then, then why can't they do it now??
  22. While this might've been a correct observation 30-40 & 50yrs ago, kits are no longer designed nor produced for "kids", well not kids of today. Manufacturers are well AWARE of that. Most kits these days are bought by people over 25-30yrs old minimum. 90% of kids today have NO interest in building model kits, they don't give them the INSTANT satisfaction or gratification they crave.... Like they get from video games. Simple. Kits are designed to sell, save a few "snap-tites" & curbsides, to us, men, in general, over 30-35yo. People who grew up long before the Sony/Xbox/IPhone/iPad Generation. Then take into account ALL the after-market companies & their products. Their stuff isn't designed nor made for under 20yos. They're made for the detail freaks etc. People who have $ to burn to make their builds more accurate, better customized etc. Please don't tell me kit makers don't believe this & they only produce kits for "kids". That era has ended, long ago. They know exactly who their most important clients are. They know they can't get away with producing rubbish anymore. We have EVERY right to nit-pick just how good or bad the kits they produce are, whether its a $15 kit or a $100+ kit. It's the 21st Century & technology has come a long, long, long way since 1950. They really don't have an EXCUSE to provide us with highly accurate subjects/kits. I vote with my wallet... Make a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH kit... I won't buy it. Simple. Make an accurate kit, of a subject I'm interested in, & I'll buy it & usually I'll buy more than 1. Regarding the 70 Cuda tail-light issue... Has Revell not heard of PE? Is there some reason the Japanese kit manufacturers can add PE sets to nearly ALL of their new kits but Revell/Round 2 have NEVER added PE detailing sets?? Am I missing something here?? It's going on close to 4yrs, ( Nov' being the release date for this 70 Cuda ) to bring this kit to market... Yet how many brand spanking NEW toolings/kits have Fujimi/Aoshima & Tamiya brought to the shelves & will have brought to shelves BEFORE November??? Cliff
  23. I'll give you the same advice everyone else has... A/Brush or Spray-can. Painting bodies with a brush.... Just... No. Look's like you've already done that so I'll say right now... Strip it. Get down to your local auto supply store, they sell auto touch-up spray cans & are cheaper than hobby spray cans & in a lot of cases do a better job. Dry faster & are tougher. & like everyone else has also said... Practice makes... Perfect ;-) Cheers
