Thanks everyone, really means a lot! Very happy with it myself. @Brett - I had thought about it but I had already done that with the van, and I didn't want it to be a total rust bucket.. There is more subtle rust all around it though, the pics don't really bring it out unfortunately.. My brother, a Beetle owner, took great pride in telling me how rusty they can be all round! @Jason - Frankly, at that point, I was fed up and just wanted it off the desk Next time if I have the same issue I would try that though. @Chris - Yes, it's lowered very slightly just at the front, I made my own mounting point for the suspension just higher up than the original one which gave it strength and just the right height. Thanks again everyone!

Tamiya kit, I have a WIP in the WIP, it's a couple pages back though. Built box stock apart from the spotlight taken from the parts box, the roof rack, and the oil drum on top. Used masking tape for the "strap". Wheel is the spare that's supposed to go on the bonnet. Used some decals from the parts box to cover up a couple blemishes too. Lowered slightly at the front. I had some fitment issues, so I ended up having to glue the front hood shut and the bonnet had to remain open, so I rusted around the handle, not unlike what I did with the VW Van to cover up it's many fitment issues... Built it how I'd have one - rusty, with a lot of character. Looks very cool next to the van I think Hope you like. Cheers! - Tomo

Thanks Robin! It's not, I'm not sure what it is, I used it on a Chevelle I built two years ago, in fact it's the very same Can! Gave it a (very) rough mockup, I can never resist...

I'm sure a model who models would be very cool indeed! Hahah. But that ain't me, in case yer wonderin'.. I'm a dude, for a start. Nothing's changed since I was last on here, y'know.. Cheers Chris! -
Cheers guys! Painted today. Didn't do the white as I thought it'd be too much, and I'm only just getting back into building.. I'll worry about fancy paints later on For now, I'm just happy I got a good spray job down.

Cheers guys, much appreciated! The duct tape is made from Tamiya masking tape coloured silver with a sharpie and then cut to size with a blade. I know Lee, currently my latest musical obsession.. Grew up with her music though, so I guess it had to come back around eventually -
A project I'm about 99% certain I'll complete... ...Because it's about 90% done already It's Tamiya's '66 kit. (Is this kit meant to have a decal sheet? I can't find one. Had to try and paint a Speedo on. Think I did okay.) It's in primer right now: I'm going for this kinda look: I've ordered some styrene tubing, to make a custom roof rack. I've never done this before or worked with styrene tubing. Any advice or hints or anything guys? Cheers

So we lifted up the carpets... Bad news. Rotten. Looks like we needed a bit of repair work... Offending articles were cut out... But we didn't get the weather to sort it, so I got around to the other stuff... Before and after of the engine bay: Then finally, we got the weather to do the floors. So, new panels brazed in... Painted! then I painted the rear arches, and painted all the suspension components and brake calipers, front and back. A bit more moon action going on too... And then...

Wow, I didn't know how much of this I hadn't shown you guys! Well, she's finished now... I'll give a brief skim over. (The whole build is on the owner's club, feel free to check it out.. http://www.vwgolfmk2.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=29718 ) Engine was serviced, and new clutch and stuff too. Painted the rocker cover. New door, painted the under arches, then new engine mounts, joints, wishbones (basically, the whole front end of the car? I spent a fortune and bought mostly all new stuff. Engine bay was welded up, and painted Tornado Red.. (I think I have pics of how it used to look on here?) Engine in... Hey, that's me! Everything in properly, and wired up... First fire up! You can tell, I was very pleased, hahah. No exhaust on it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4zbWKxGdmo And then, disaster struck... (continues now, in a sec..)

So, after a reasonably long hiatus (TOO long, life happens sometimes...) due to school and the Golf, I'm finally back into modelling. I promised myself I'd get back into modelling this summer. Now with exams being finished and the GTI being finished (I'll update that thread for you guys in a minute, I see I've had some responses since I've been gone...), I have no excuse do I eh? So, I picked a kit and got with it... As per usual in my threads, I cranked on the tunes... (amazing, amazing album.) and got to work. I was actually working on two kits at once, due to having a lot of inspiration and the itch to get modelling, which I decided to take advantage of while I have it... the other one is Tamiya's '66 Beetle which is sitting in primer, which I've lowered at the front and decided to make a scratchbuilt roof rack for - waiting on styrene tubing to arrive, first attempt at real scratch building so I'm sure that'll be fun... Anyways, the one I have finished, is this. It's Revell's Jagermeister T2 (I may not have been BUILDING models, but that doesn't mean I was not buying them! hahah. I didn't want to do the real livery, though it's pretty cool so eventually I may do so. I vowed I would never touch another Revell multi-piece body T2 so long as I live, but God knows why I decided to give it a shot. More patience and experience helped me, I think... There's still a few alignment issues but I think you can see where I've tried to do a realistic remedy to these.. Mainly duct tape and an attempt to make it look like the rusty hinges caused one of the side doors to drop. I also lost an indicator on the front, so I drilled a hole out to make it look like it basically rusted off. I'm not very good at rust weathering, but it was a necessity really.. Colour is "Ford Ivory White". Anyway, I'll let the pics do the talking! It's been a long time since I've been at the bench so the photography and model building skills are a little past it but I'm sure I'll get them back soon enough, hahah! Comments and criticisms are much appreciated! Good to be back. - Tomo

Almost like that's how it shoulda been from the factory. Awesome.

I'm getting a bit out of practice at this lately, getting back into the swing of it hopefully.. Once the Golf is finished (nearly is!) I'll have more time for models. Nice easy kit. Tamiya's Honda NSX. The kit was missing a few bits and pieces (some of the decals, mirrors, numberplates etc.) so I did the best with what I had. Few blemishes here or there but I'm happy! Bloody photoetch grille fell off I just noticed. Ignore that, I'll fix it. Thanks for looking, all comments much appreciated.

First model finished in waaay too long. Getting back into the swing of it now though.. Built box stock. I planned to use the kit decals but they went bad as per usual so I made my own version of a "Test" rally car. All comments much appreciated! Cheers

This is about 98% done, figured I'd just post the shots I have and then when I get some supplies back from my modelling friend I can finally get it finished. The coins are to give the model a bit more weight. I originally planned to do it the proper Castrol livery but I think roughly 6 people in history have managed to use the kit decals successfully in this kit. More in a minute.
