  1. Excellent build of one of the most iconic sportscars ever !
  2. Thank you,Tom ! Thanks, David !
  3. Thank you, Gareth - the yellow is the color the kit was molded in - I just applied a clearcoat. The interior was not red, but chocolate brown.
  4. The Giugiaro-designed (back then Ghia designer after leaving Bertone) De Tomaso Mangusta was presented to the public in 1966, had a Ford powertrain and was the predecessor of the more successful Pantera. In 2013 I snapped a 1/25 Politoys model of a Mangusta on ebay for little money (It had a few issues, but was complete - I could not let it pass) with the intention to transform an ancient toy into a - more or less- acceptable model. Last year I coincidentally found a Fujimi wheel and tire set which was looking almost exactly like the real ones: Ignition ! I disassembled the model, spray-painted it in a light metallic green, detailed interior and engine bay with paint and replaced the wheels with the aformementioned Fujimi set. License plate and windshield wipers came from Quattroruote die-casts, the exhaust pipes are ferrules from an electric shop, the windshield damage was hidden under a silver decal, side windows fabricated from clear plastic (will be reworked, though). The represented model is some hybrid - it shows some characteristic of the prototype, but misses also some (glass roof, square exhaust pipes) - so I'm not sure if it might be a very early production model (without the openings on the engine cover below the windows) or it was just the freedom of the manufacturer in the late 60's. The biggest flaw could not be corrected - the car is a bit too long and too low (see picture of the real car in my post "old Italian iron from May 6, 2021) On to the pictures: Here is what it looked BEFORE: and here is how it looks AFTER the treatment:
  5. Thank you very much, Anders !
  6. Another Gunze-Sangyo low-tech kit from the 80's, built in 1990 straight out of the box, sprayed white from the can, added fine wire mesh for the grille and bare metal foil for the window surrounds. Window stickers and golden ASI plate at the rear are from Protar. And 2 more pictures beside 1/24 scale diecasts (also Italian '60s classics) : a Lancia Fulvia 1,3 HF (above) and an Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1600 (below)
  7. x 2 - you built a nice mopar hauler with fitting load, Dan !
  8. Thanks, Mark! Thanks, James ! Thank you, Dan! Thanks, Dave ! Thank you, JT - but it is not even your favorite color ! Merci, Philippe ! Thank you, Chris ! Thanks, Lucas ! Thank you, D. - the stripes were included in the kit. Thanks Doug - the pictures are from 2005 (when I got my first digicam) - so truck and trailer were 21 years old back then.
  9. Thanks, Bob ! Thank you, Carl - there are so many possible factory color choices for Italian sports cars (especially in the 50's and 60's), so I try to avoid the ever-dominant red most of the time.
  10. Very nice Mack,Graham !
  11. Wild truck here, David - is it for the strip or for the road? Anyway, equally impressive load on the trailer...
  12. This is the original release from 1983, built in 1984 straight out of the box - nothing added (This is my only 1/24 truck, all others are 1/25 scale). Though the box says "Freightliner by Mercedes Benz", my decal sheet had only stripes and license plates, but NO Freightliner logos - so I had to take a silver pen for the front and hood sides and a black ink pen for the mudflaps! The door decal is from ERTL. And here, hooked to one of my trailers:
  13. Thanks you, Eric. Grazie, Glen ! Danke, Dominik! Thank you, Skip - I envy you for having possessed such a lovely little car... The red die-cast has better proportions, I think, but you are right, it has also its faults, f.ex. the convertible boot (I will try to remove this) Thanks, Gary - the light blue is the kit, the red one is a die-cast. Thank you - I on ly built the light blue car. Thanks, Chris !
  14. Very nice build, David - I can't remember if I ever saw this model built stock.
  15. Extraordinary models, Steven - you deserve it absolutely !
  16. As already told before, these days are hard times for 1/24 scale modelers concerning really good (affordable) Alfa Romeo kits - apart from a few Tamiya releases: Protar (a - now defunct - Italian company !) even didn't know that the 1600 cc spider was called Giulia, it had the Giulietta body with a modified hood though (the Giulietta had a 1300 cc. engine). Protar was famous for classic motorbikes, but their later released car models all have some issues: this is no exception. (this kit has been reissued over the last decades from Revell Germany and last from Italeri) First the cover photo of the kit (with the wrong name on it), then the pictures of the model: built in 1990, sprayed from the rattle can, it is a curbside - I lowered the rear a little bit and used bare metal foil for the chrome - otherwise it is stock out-of-the-box. Pictures from 2005: Some more from 2009 with other Alfa Giulias: In 2021 I replaced the headlights which had become white over time and swapped the wheels with a Quattroruote Giulietta Coupé die-cast. I took some comparison photos with a genuine 1961 Giulietta Spider from Quattroruote's Alfa Romeo Centennial collection which is also not 100 % correct, but has much better proportions - compare the windshield (rake and contour) with the box cover photo!
  17. This is exactly my cup of tea, as you might say - the US classics I'm posting here from time to time are from long ago, my interest is mainly on classic sports cars, sports racing and rally cars. I will never ever get tired of stuff like that !
  18. Fantastic model, Sergey - excellent photos also !
  19. Nice build of this old kit, Rich - enjoy your retirement and keep on building (hope to see more race cars from you) !
  20. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L Ford, Randy - very well done !
  21. x 2 - I would prefer the light blue version, but both look great.
  22. Tomasz, that is sensational- first I thought "he shows us the real car first, then the model pictures will follow", until I realized that ALL of those were model photos!!! Amazing pics of Chris Amon's GP Monaco 1967 racecar - fabulous ! Very good looking period-correct background also !
  23. Very nice, Olds, David - the two-tone paint schemes are what sparked my interest in 50's cars.
  24. Very nice sled, David !
  25. the taller tires are period correct for the early 60's - Revell's are too small...
