  1. Man Dirk, that has to be a load off your mind!! I would be worried sick if I put that much time into something and misplaced it. Great you got it back!
  2. R.I.P Hal, you were a real visionary! Enjoyed your work immensely in Smokey and the bandit....and The Cannonball Run
  3. That wouldn't take that much work to make that into something Tom! Good start as far as I can see.
  4. Mirrors were added after those pictures. A friend who is a hobby photographer took those just before the car was finished. The pictures in "Under Glass" section are of the completed model. Thank you for the compliments! I love the Mustangs too.
  5. Hey Adam do a search in the Big Boyz section for GT500 and you may get some ideas on what you can do with this kit. I went nuts with it myself and made it into a Super Snake.
  6. My primary A/B right now is an Iwata HP-BCS (love it), secondary for large work is my Badger Crescendo, sold the Paasche, and last but not least is my ultimate favorite prized piece which is an untouched brand new Thayer and Chandler. (cant bring myself to open the tie downs on it that hold it into the velvet case.)
  7. Thank you Johann! It seems there was a bit of conjecture about the awkward look of the 1:1.......I believe that would be good to have this look better in that case.
  8. Yep, that is the way I have done flares in the past. Just awesome bodywork Andrius!!! Looks very much like the 1:1
  9. Thanks for the compliments guys!
  10. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and advice! I am probably going to use the roof I already have, now that I have found there is no roof out there that is just going to be a "cut off and glue on". Was trying to avoid going that route because it will be just like the making of the body......I am going to have cut and splice in "A" pillars and probably "C" pillars as well and then fill and sand. Also, I have the wing on the way for the rear below the back window which will help a lot with the "C" pillar region.
  11. Thanks Fred! I look forward to making it available to others Wanna see it. Wanna see it.
  12. Thanks Mike! Gotta do some more work on the body but I think the updates took care of some of the problems.
  13. A little rough yet but got some primer on it......after doing the side scoops
  14. Thanks Ted! Thanks again Ray!!
  15. Current progress after today, First etching coat of primer. Has a long way to go till paint but it is getting there.
  16. This is the stage I was at the other day..........so it is well under way. In fact, the side vents and the side body lines are almost done now. See what I mean by the roof??
  17. That is what I initially thought myself.....I had an old 911 in the parts bin so I cut the roof off it and put it on the top of the car, it is too long and the roof profile slants backward too much. Was going to section out the roof to shorten but then you create a circular top to it which would open a new can of worms. I keep looking at the 50 Oldsmobile and/or 51 Chevy roof because it has to have a little height to it. The roof I have right now is a little too short heightwise but the length is good.....it is just a homologation of several different pieces (57 T-bird backhalf, 57 Chevy center-to-windshield, and VW Beetle sides.) Thank you for the reply Corey!
  18. Ok guys, I don't usually build in the vintage category but my current custom build on the 1952 Ferrari 340 Mexico Berlinetta tribute car needs a proper roof. I am getting stuck on what I should use that has the right look to it. I can give some different shots of the 1:1 I am working from to help you but I don't have the Vintage knowhow to decipher which roof from which car. Plus, my stash is not that big so I don't have a lot of parts. I am just guessing at this point and when you piss into the wind you get wet feet. I need the roof for the next step which will be tying up all the beltline body work so I am getting close to being at a standstill so this is quite important (hence the reason I am reaching out for help.) Oh, Would also like to add that this WILL be available as a resin body from Jimmy F. if I ever get it done and to him. So it could benefit us all! Thanks for any suggestions and any and all help acquired! Pics for reference:
  19. Welcome to the forum Amanda! You are a rarity (in a good way) in the modeling community. Sounds like you have a good plan of attack the 2nd time around on your Jeep. Look up bare metal foil for your diamond plate issue. Have fun building! Any of us would be happy to help with any questions you might have. -Ken
  20. Your friend has great taste! Not only in models but also the color. The car looks great so far!!
  21. For the headlights Gary, there are a few options for projectors: You can use sequins from Michael's (they would stand out the best because of the dark blue), or what I like to use is small led bulbs from Radio Shack (very subtle though). Then you just shape the GTR headlight bucket and install them in there. Just an idea. Love what you did with your "Sil" Gary!!!
  22. Very nice work Brandon! Keep up the clean builds!!
  23. I look forward to seeing what you do with this Ray! Be-ing it has little to no detail, the possibilities are endless!
