Doner kit for resin 62 Ford kit ?
smellyfatdude replied to cobraman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I used an AMT ' 60 Starliner chassis, on this Modelhaus ' 61 Starliner. Needed a wee bit of shortening at the back, but otherwise if fit good. -
"You may decide to combine parts from the different versions shown, or use parts from other AMT kits for a really personalized model." I realize you started with a promo, but when I look at this I can't help but think that you've taken what they wrote in those instructions, and elevated it to an art form. Whether a model or a 1:1, that's the best of both worlds. A high performance street machine, that still pays tribute to the the look and feel of the original classic lines. Ford built some gorgeous cars in the sixties, and that's certainly one gorgeous scale replica! ?

Excellent color choice, and the light interior really complements it. I love the slight weathering on the underside, as well as your photo backdrops. Looks like you could get in it, and drive. ? A great build!

Dodge Van Camper - Done!
smellyfatdude replied to Tom Geiger's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beautiful, beyond words! I’m currently working on a replica of my uncle’s ‘ 73 Dodge Tradesman camper. I plan to make the roof extension removable, so the detail inside is easier to see. I hope mine looks half as nice, inside. Great job! -
Nice clean build, great color combo to boot! ?

Edelbrock aluminum intake
smellyfatdude replied to smellyfatdude's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Never had one of those, but the Mopar engine is what I need it for. The one my brain remembers having could have been in any kit, Chevy, Ford, etc. -
I should know the answer to this, 'cause I know one of the kits in my stash came with one. I also know I didn't use it. But I'm me, and I'm stumped. What kits had a single carb intake? It's for a Dodge 318, if that helps.

1973 Dodge full wheel covers
smellyfatdude replied to smellyfatdude's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That most certainly is them. I found a video on gluetube, showing somebody unpacking the contents of the above kit. When he pulls out the chrome tree, yup there they are. I doubt I'd find any originals, but maybe someone has resin cast some. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes out. Thanks for the help! -

Too beautiful for words! -
I'm glad you built it that way! Looks terrific!

That is beyond clean. Such crisp detail, you’d swear you built cars all the time! ?

That's a sweet looking Fury! I love the wheels, they give it a real performance look. I think the Mopars of that era wear that color very well.

When my cousin did the body work on his wife’s car the first time, he didn’t need to cut out the center door posts. He simply twisted them out, with a large pipe wrench. The whole floor needed to be replaced, as well as major repairs to the rest of the body. The final time he fixed it up, the roof had actually started to rust through, on the passenger side. Somehow, he managed to cut out an area about a foot square, without removing the headliner or setting it on fire in the process. Now, this was a daily driver, that saw year round use. But, several years after that when rust bubbles started to appear, again all in places that hadn’t previously needed repair, they finally bought a new Jeep and scrapped the car. Twenty seven years, 270,000 miles, it’s time had come.

Those cars rusted in some unique ways, that’s for sure. My cousin restored the body on his wife’s ‘ 64 Daytona sedan, a total of three times. It seemed to manage to rust through in every spot that hadn’t been touched, the previous times. ?

Probably not quite as experimental, as you might think Starting in ‘ 63, even a plain Jane Lark sedan could be had with the full Super package, or any component of it. Avanti engine, four speed trans, disc brakes were all options even on a 4-door. Studebaker did have a police package, which included a certified speedometer. But, you certainly didn’t need the police version, to own a fast Stude!

One of the 80's promo re-issues. Nothing sacrilegious about taking it apart to pretty it up, so I did just that. Two things about this body: 1. It had more mold lines that anything I've ever seen, and I had to fight the good fight with a few of them, before I could lay any primer on. 2. I think it's dead on accurate. Never owned a hardtop, but I did have a ' 62 Lark sedan. Seems like the proportions are spot on. Krylon Dual satin ivory, over Rustoleum satin Lagoon. Tamiya TS-13 clear.

You built what was in my head! I have one of the ancient IMC kits, and always wanted to do a street version. That, is beyond stunning!

Gorgeous paint and foil work, you really nailed that one!

Great job on the Laurentian! As a canuck, I love seeing a Canadian Pontiac. And that trailer is cool! -
I love the color, the stance, the wheels . . . . I love everything about your Chevelle!
