  1. thanks to you all for your kind comments...this was a fun project for me, and the first 40 ford I have ever built.....regards, a.c.
  2. looks great, ron...excited to see yours finished. I just got 2 of these kits last week, and am dying to jump into one. regards, a.c.
  3. I have always loved this stocker, as seen in car magazines from the late 60;s.............this is one great piece you built, and thanks for sharing with us........a.c.
  4. thanks for your kind comments, both ron and dave.... a.c.
  5. I appreciate the kind replys, guys, I really do. and yes, kevin,...removing the exhaust sometimes can be tricky. your job for a 56 ford is harder, as you have duals to do, and less room to work in. next build I will pick a car that everything is separate, or not present at all. my old worn out dremel bits are not up to working another right now,,,lol....thanks.
  6. thanks for your comments, boys.
  7. greetings everyone, ...some time since I have built a piece and posted one here. finished this today from the new amt issue 40 ford coupe kit. about 3 -4 weeks working slowly, and presto...finally its at least presentable. paint is Tamiya orange spray can, followed by Tamiya spray pearl clear. decals are a mix of this and that,...pretty much a box build,..but removed the stock exhaust and re plated the floor. scratch built traction masters, woody cal custom steering wheel, drivers helmet...I think that's about it. anyhow, maybe I will start another kit this week too. not a great build, but all this old bird can muster up these days. thanks for looking. the ace.........
  8. very, very nice 40 coupe there, ray. I like the car show gear, but agree with some of the other members that it takes away from your build a bit. color combo is tasty as well. regards, a.c.
  9. I happen to be building this exact kit as we speak. never owned or built the amt 40 ford before, but I think you would agree that its a decent issue, with great chrome, tires, and a nice decal sheet. my car is a 60's era gasser, and is about 70 per cent done. Tamiya orange with pearl clear, and mostly box stock. I will post it when finished...my first build in almost a year. enjoy yours, I will be excited to see it when its done. regards, alf.
  10. nice clean work, ray....looks wild and exciting.
  11. if I liked this piece any better, i'd have to fly to your home and buy it from you...outstanding, and that's a fact. regards...
  12. looks outstanding....can't wait to grab one and build one too....great job and thanks for sharing.
  13. I wasn't buying one of these,...but I am immediately after seeing yours....just terrific in every way.
  14. hi lee, me either, on chrome on these wheels. basic testors silver spray,...a couple of light coats,..followed by a dust coat of testors dullcoat over, does look nice on these, and for this job I prefer the basic testors sprays on rims,..not the model master spray...regards and good luck, alf.
  15. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/photopost/data/3233/1969_mustang_ford_team_drag_car_2_launchside.jpg--------------------------------------------hi again, this well known photo of terrys 70 pro car may be the easier way to build a great piece. use a revell 70 mach 1 and make a sohc motor and find a hoodscoop similar,..the side stripes are actually black on this version, which may be easier for you to come up with than blue. cady used to do decals for this team,...and maybe slixx as well, but they may be tough to find now. anyhow, just a thought....
  16. yes, jim it will do nicely. both platt and ed terry ran those in 69, but there are many combos you could build. each team had a stang and a cobra fb in 69./// for 70, mustangs again were raced by both teams, same paint schemes, but different stripes. if this helps, you can even use a revel 68 cobra jet mustang, with the same paint in white and blue, ...and run a tin breadbox style hood scoop,//as very late in 68- into early 69, ed terry changed his cobra jet car to a sohc to match race it just before the, as we know it pro stock days. headers from the amt 68 Shelby work on the revell 69 mustang, with some mods. the best headers for any bb ford are the johan 70 maverick/comet pro stock kits. they have that correct look, when properly fitted. as you know, searching photos on the net will excite you, as well as confuse you as to what to build....and with most drag cars of that time, changes were constant,..so try to choose a pic that you like, and get those files and sandpaper going. let me know if you need any help here. I,m gettin'older and grumpier, but still remember a bit....regards.
  17. you hit the home run of home runs scoring this set. round2 could, and should re-issue this one and the fang = tang Shelby drag team. the awb falcon, trailer, and craftsman 64 galaxie are pieces that amt and the kats there will probably re-pop at some point,...so why not get all our cash in one shot. the fang tang team with 69 galaxie, 68 Shelby, and trailer are easy re-pops too. the only catch is..the Shelby originals had the clear teardrop hood, clear red tail lites and a rear panel that mounted them, and 4 chrome open wheels that are very nice. that bit of retooling should not break the bank at round2, so along with their upgraded decal sheets, killer new slicks and all, what are they waiting for....the indy drag combo kit, as it was called, sported the awb 65 nova, trailer, and 63 nova wagon. well, why not issue that one for all of us, and if the wagon is too much expense to repair moulds,...have the box art done like originally, but blend in a 65 chevelle wagon in towing the awb....would still be a great set....
  18. the amt 69 cobra fastback works with the addition of some good headers and such,..as for mustangs,...the revell 69 mach 1 builds nicely,..again needing headers and all other super stock items. if you really want to get ambitious, grab a johan maverick pro stocker, and build ed terrys car from the 71-72 era. it was Cleveland powered, so a project it would be...hope this helps a bit. alf.
  19. looks terrific, ray. your nova is the BOSSA NOVA. I built this kit and posted it last april, and had fun building it. I have one more in stock, and hope to get at it in coming months. regards, alf.
  20. very, very nice. love the graphics on that color. I posted mine last year, built like the box top. think I may build a blue or aqua one.....regards.
  21. just what I expect from you, john.
  22. looks killer, ray. your cars always do....
  23. nice stock box build,...nice.
  24. john, your builds are just like always....just totally impossible to put into words, but wish I could.
  25. walter, your piece looks great,..captures that wild gasser 60's appearance perfectly. i'm not confused about your engine choice,..max wedges were popular at that time in various gas coupes, gas dragsters,..you name it. great work.
