  1. The USAF experimented with a similar idea and just kept going ...
  2. Definitely top notch model building. I'm not much into the "weathered" or "used" look but I'm sure that takes as much talent and time as it does to make a shiny show truck. Hats off to you Alain!
  3. So that's a "no" on the fifth wheel thing?
  4. Nice project, but I think you posted it in the wrong section...unless you can mount a fifth wheel on the trunk lid.
  5. I agree, these won't likely be at Hobby Lobby. The Petes and red KWs weren't on their shelves so there's no reason to think the Aerodynes would show up there.
  6. Cool Transtar! One of my favorite COEs and I can't believe they haven't been reissued recently.
  7. It is sharp! I'm just trying to figure out if that's a KW battery box or a custom.
  8. This is a stock photo of it but I saw this bad ass Pete waiting to turn off of a cross road on my way to work on Friday. I caught the name on the battery box and Googled it. It turns out to be owned by a guy in a town not far from here. DCP also made a 1/64 diecast version of it. Hmmm...a future model project?
  9. They do make some. As Clayton mentioned, Ryan makes quite a few 1/16 aftermarket goodies and there are a few 3D items on Ebay. The good thing about 1/16 is that it's a little bit easier to make your own parts if you need to. I built a lot of 1/16 customs 10-15 years ago when there were literally no aftermarket parts available. You can do wonders sometimes with a piece of styrene, an Xacto knife, a relatively steady hand, and a few Band-Aids!
  10. I'm with JT, love that shine! It may be superficial and a bit unrealistic in the 1:1 truck world but I love chrome.
  11. Thank you, I appreciate the info. I've never built a Eurotruck before but I like COEs and this one looks pretty cool!
  12. I'm guessing it's sold out. I couldn't find it on their website.
  13. At least we know what they "greased" the skids with!
  14. The middle section went all the way around to make it look like one big sleeper. There were seams of course and even though it was well done I could tell it was made from 2 Unibilts. The one facing backewards sloped downward a bit on the rear of course which was what initially caught my attention. It was hard to tell but I'm guessing he cut most of the backs off of the two sleepers to open it up. Different, but I'm not sure I'd do something like that on a model. Too used to the stepped look...nose to cab roof to sleeper top to trailer top.
  15. I got these over the past couple of days. The 1/16 Pete kits were Ebay purchases, one sealed and one open but complete. I picked up the Mack today at Hobby Lobby with the coupon. It was good to see something there other than their endless supply of Freightliner COEs.
  16. I wasn't able to take photos in traffic but I saw a rather interesting sleeper set-up on a Peterbilt today. It was two Unibilt hi-rise sleepers, back-to-back with about 3 feet in the middle connecting them. I had to do a double-take to make sure I was seeing it right. Obviously it was a homemade set-up but it was really well done.
  17. Thank you for sharing the photos here Clayton!
  18. It's easy...I just pick it up, turn it around, and put it back on the shelf! That's part of the fun of model building, things don't necessarily have to function like they do in the real world.
  19. Extra axles? We don't need no stinking extra axles!
  20. Since cabovers have become dinosaurs on the road it's even cool to have seen this tired old Eagle the other day...
