  1. Yeah, I see that the Revell/Germany version of the KW will be reissued soon. I'm not sure why the price will be so high though.
  2. I've been away from the forums here for a little over a year but I'm getting back into the swing of things truck model-wise. I was wondering if there's been any word of a reissue of the Monogram 1/16 Kenworth Aerodyne and/or flatbed trailer. I figured with the limited release of the Peterbilt 359 and Kenworth W-900 they might at least do the Aerodyne as well.
  3. None available as kit, and none in the aftermarket that I know of. I made a 1/16 KW COE years ago...
  4. That's some incredible imagination, very impressive!
  5. Thank you but I've decided not to do the project at this time. I've sold part of it on Ebay and most of the rest is there now. I may hang onto the chassis in case I decide to restart everything later, but that may end up going too if I can figure out a practical way to ship a 31"-long frame!
  6. Interesting variations on the Ryder Paymaster... http://www.commercialmotor.com/big-lorry-blog/the-pioneering-paymaster-truck
  7. I found this info on another forum... "Designed to be functional with fuel economy in mind over looks, starting in 1971. Once the first Energy Crisis hit in 1973, Ryder teamed up and evaluated a couple of Paymasters in their fleet. Bad combination of a recession and high interest rates killed the project by 1980 with only 14 Paymasters being constructed."
  8. Now that's a classy-looking wrecker! I love the color combo, great work.
  9. This is one I did years ago. The memories and pics will have to do!
  10. Thanks, but unfortunately I made the decision today to chuck the whole project. I put the wheels/tires and some chrome on Ebay. I didn't want to mess with making another ultra sleeper top so I just kinda improvised on this one, but it's a moot point now.
  11. When I spliced all the frame rails together to make the long frame I joined them at very slight angles to make the finished frame arch a bit. Right now the project is at a standstill due to low funds so I'm at a crossroads. I'm not sure whether I want to put everything away in storage for awhile or just sell the wheels/tires and chuck the whole project. Honestly, even if I finish it I don't know what the heck I'd do with a 2-1/2-foot-long wrecker model.
  12. Here are a couple of mock-up pics of the crude beginnings of my next 1/16 project. I built a big Peterbilt wrecker with 3 rear axles about a dozen years ago, and after seeing photos of Ten-West's big Western Star wrecker with 4 rear axles I decided to do something similar in 1/16. Mine will be a Peterbilt and it'll be a rotator of course. I purposely arched the frame to compensate for the eventual weight of the wrecker body. This truck is approximately 31"-long without the as yet to be built wrecker body.
  13. Thanks! I gave up posting anymore pics of my big scale cars. The "1:8 scratch deuce" thread gets bumped to the top every 10 minutes so everything else kinda gets buried right away.
  14. Very cool! Speaking of the Aventador, I saw a black one flanked by a few Vipers at a local restaurant last weekend...
  15. I've seen resin 1/8-scale Halibrands since I did this Vette. I sure wish they were available back then, it would've been a lot easier than making them.
  16. Great work! Although they're dinosaurs nowadays, I've always had a soft spot for COE day cabs.
  17. Go for it Tom!!! Can you imagine how many FM would've sold had they offered this car?
  18. Yep, all of the FM 1/12 '67 Vettes are fiberglass, and even some of their 1/24 ones.
  19. The base car was a Franklin Mint red 1/12-scale fiberglass 1967 Corvette roadster. The paint is Marlboro Maroon and it was done by a good friend of mine in Australia. He does outstanding work and my paint skills aren't even close to his so I knew he was the guy for the job. After I disassembled the car I shipped everything that needed paint to him. In the mean time Alan at Whoopie Kat Decals upsized a set of 1/25 Ko-Motion decals to 1/12-scale. My friend painted the body parts and shipped them back to me, at which point I applied the decals and shipped everything back to Australia for clear coating. In addition to the cost of having to ship a 1/12 fiberglass Corvette body and parts to Australia twice, we were both nervous about any potential shipping damage, but everything turned out fine. I got the resin Cragar S/S wheels from Casey and had them chromed. The valve covers were originally orange and needed chroming as well. I added headers from a Monogram 1/12 '67 Vette kit and hooked them up to the sidepipes. I wanted the letters/numbers on the rear window to be as authentic as possible. I found a decent online photo of the ones on the real Ko-Motion, printed it off in the correct scale, taped it to the inside of the rear window, and traced everything on the outside of the window with real white shoe polish. Everything was a lot more work than I've outlined here, but you get the idea. The car made a third and final trip to Australia last year and now resides in my friend's extensive Corvette model collection.
  20. I did this one last year...
  21. I did those Yenkos back around 1999 or 2000. A guy in Wyoming made the decals for me. To be honest I lost track of him after that and I'm not sure what happened to him. Speaking of 1/12, here's one you'll remember from just last year...
  22. None of them come with Cragar S/S wheels. The 5-spokes in the '57 kit are more like Ansons, they have a skinnier spoke than the Cragar S/S. They'll do in a pinch though. The 1/12 '69 Camaro does make for a nice set of Yenkos though. I used the 5-spokes from the '57 kit on a couple of them to simulate TT wheels...
