The Mustang was introduced at the '64 Worlds Fair. Really is a '65 since it almost missed the 64 production. I agree, about the only difference is the 64 1/2 had a generator.

AMT '36 Ford Roadster Kustom - Completed
Bob Ellis replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Very nice work. -
I have bought quite a bit from Modelhaus. Not sure if 4-6 weeks timeline is always true but it takes a while to get your parts after you order. Ordering online will save a couple of days. It's like a restaurant, they prepare the parts after they receive your order. This is why you have to wait. Maybe they stock some items. I got a new catalog and a written message from Modelhaus that indicates "we are needing to slow down" and "declining some new parts that are requested for development of new parts".

1/25 AMT "Northwind" '62 Chevy Bel Air Super Stock
Bob Ellis replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
My first issue AMT '62 Belair had the incorrect grille as well. -
Tom, good point about making own decals and signs. If it doesn't have right wall, well I guess a second kit might be necessary, then you get another bay. Our building was once used as an auto repair facility. Hense, it has a ceiling natural gas furnace. If you want to model a real one, here is a picture of it. Since the combustables settle to the floor, the fire in the furnace is high above the floor. I would hate to experiment with the theory, but supposably it works.

I knew there was no back wall to Joe's gas station. Even the Buddy L Texaco didn't have a back wall either. I think a guy Chris sells Gas station decals.

Is the recent '67 Camaro an off shoot of this '68 Camaro kit? The stock version of this '68 kit is pretty decent.

+ 1970 Camaro Hub Caps or Wheel Covers +
Bob Ellis replied to 1972coronet's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I meant the actual Nova in 1972, used these round hub caps. So, while some Camaros had them when new, do did some Novas.- 13 replies

I am curious whether a licensing problem converted it from Texaco to Joe's? It is a one bay station, which I guess is typical in very small towns or where real estate is a problem. I would like to buy two kits and make a 2 bay building. The pumps and details look pretty nice to me.

Charlie, the plate on the Mustang II is a 1979 Virginia plate. In May of 1979, I had both cars at Ft Belvoir Virginia. The '72 Torino was traded in at a local Ford dealer for the '76 Mustang II which cost me $3200 after trading in the Torino. Every week the Torino was costing me money in repairs. It was also rusted badly from Maine winters and it got 9-13 mpg. The Torino just died one day, thankfully. I bought and took possession of the '76 Mustang in one day. As a Second Lieutenant, I got the Mustang on a I.O.U and the ex-Army Col salesman told me to call USAA for insurance and run down to Pentagon Federal Credit Union to get a loan. One Saturday later, I went to Pentagon, paid $5 for a share, and walked out with a check to pay Jerry's Ford for the Mustang. The loan and my Army commitment were both 2 years and nobody was worried about losing a dime. The Mustang II was the perfect car in 1979 as it had a 4 speed, ran decent and got up to 28 mpg. They were giving away V8 cars that year.

I had some luck finding kits of the first 2 real cars that I owned. This Johan '72 Torino was built by me in about 1976. The MPC Mustang II was started about the same time but finished a few years later after sitting partially assembled in the box. The are not contest quality models for sure, but they have some sentimental value as I have had them for 38 years.

Here is the first AMT A163 '63 Corvette kit. You can tell it's a converted '67 since it has both a split window and backup light between the tail lights
-
It's impressive. Never seen a model of a 72 Imperial before
-
The original #A163 AMT Street Rods '63 Corvette was molded in white plastic. I believe there were several runs with that box design, but only the first ones had a box bottom with blue printing about 50th anniversary specials. I think this is the only issue with '67 backup light. The original decals were those simple small sheets similar to the other Street Rods kits. Seems like the '64 Impala had the set.

JS23U, I know the '72 Nova had baby moon caps because the Nova catalog I got in 1972 shows them. Basically, the 1972 Nova SS package included the 350 engine, SS emblems, moon hubcaps and I believe dual exhaust. The rallye wheels in the AMT 1972 Nova kit (T365/) are not in the '72 Nova SS package. If available, were extra cost. This photo is from yenko.net. It looks like the one in the 1972 Nova catalog- 13 replies

I think you guys are correct. I built that A163 '63 Corvette about 40 years ago and have since chucked it. Now, that I think about it, it only had the big block.
-
I agree, a 1/3 is about right. It doesn't take much
-
The 1975 reissue had correct skinny rubber tires and stock wheel covers. Before that, the 1959 issue had plastic wheels you had to paint, but the size was okay. We all agree that Revell raided the 1/24 Monogram parts bin to get wide white walls for Skip's. I am guessing that the later SSP copies of the original Skyliner kit had correct size wheels? I never bought one.

Uncle, cut the glass in a manner you would cut real glass. Create a defect line where it will break. Use the back side of the Xacto blade and made a deep score along where the vent glass meets the A post. Using a needle nosed plier, align the edge (not the tip) to the score line and bend . If you do a good job, you can save the vent glas for the '68 Chevelle you intend to build someday.

Yuri, fantastic work

At the model show Sunday, the had test shots of the 57 Chevy vert. The guy said August 2014 for release.

The Skip's version is the '90s? But wheels not stock. The 1975 issued in yellow plastic is stock.
