  1. I have never had the opportunity to meet Mr, Keeler. I would love to ask him how he came up with the idea for Dodge Fever. What were his influences ,etc. I would really like to hear why he decided on a monocoque chassis . Back then ,as a 12 yr old ,I had no idea what a monocoque chassis was. It is interesting that this was several years before Mickey Thompson or Barry Setzer tried it in the real world. Along with Jim Keeler, Hank Borger and Don Emmons greatly influenced my model building in those days. I was also amazed by the work of Richard Carroll, but I had no idea how he built the stuff he did. That guy was truly in a class by himself.
  2. I still have the original magazine with these articles. Jim Keeler was a man ahead of his time His series of articles on building Dodge Fever 2 still amazes me every time I look at them. I learned to detail dragster and funny car engines from his articles. I use to amaze my friends with the skills I learned from those magazines. LOL
  3. Great job ! i have'nt thought about this kit in years. Seeing it brings back so many memories of the time I built it as a kid.
  4. I have'nt been on here for a while, sorry I'm late, but thanks for the help.
  5. Close is fine with me.
  6. I need some help concerning R B Motion's tie rod ends, tubing ,etc. I have never used their parts before and would like to get some to replace the suspension parts in a Polar lights funny car kit. My question is what size should I order? If anyone has experience with these parts, I would greatly appreciate the help.
  7. Nice work. I wish Revell would reissue this kit.
  8. Good Job ! I've heard a lot of bad things about Reiable Resin. Did you have any problems with them ?
  9. Nice work I got this kit a couple of weeks ago. I really like the wheels and tires in this kit. I am using them on an altered wheelbase 55 Chevy I'm building. Again, very nice , clean work.
  10. Nice job ! Those Candies and Hughes cars were always beautiful.
  11. Great job and beautiful paint ! This is one of the best builds I've seen of this kit. I know you enjoyed those headers. They are probably the most difficult part of this kit. I remember seeing this model for the first time in a dime store in Lancaster SC. I don't know how old I was, but I must have stood there for 30 minutes looking at the beautiful art on that box. I still think it is one of the best pieces of model car box art ever produced. Again, great job and by the way, that kit chrome looks just fine.
  12. That's what I call a good answer. Thanks for the help.
  13. Does anyone know who owns the old Johan company these days. They put out some great drag kits. I wish Round 2 could get these kits and rerelease them.
  14. I thought you might like to see this.
  15. Awesome model ! I see so many so-called replicas that are not even close to the real car. You did it right. I wish Revell would rerelease more of the 1/16 scale dragsters and funny cars. Detailing them is a lot easier on my 59 year old eyes. Again, great job.

    Rat Fink

I did this Rat Fink last winter. Liquitex acrylics on canvas.
  17. This Rat Fink was one of the first paintings I did with a paintbrush that worked. I used to do everything with the airbrush. I'm working on a painting of one of Jungle Jim's Camaro funny cars. I'll post it when it's done.
  18. Thanks you Mooneyzs.
  19. Thanks for all the kind comments. I'll post more soon'
  20. I just finished this painting yesterday . It was done with Liquitex and Grumbacher acrylics on board.
  21. Great looking model ! Love the colors and the stance. So many people build altereds that just don't look period correct Yours is right on the money. Also, it's good to see an A/A, as most guys seem to be stuck on the AA/ ( supercharged ).
  22. Just saw this on Hobbylinc, coming late September. I don't remember much about this kit, hope it's good.
  23. Here are a few more pics that I got from e-bay.
  24. I ordered the decals for this car and for the Brutus GTO from Lucas and got them in about a week and a half. I have not used them yet , so I can't comment on the quality, but they look pretty good. My only complaint is that the gold lettering is just plain gold and not simulated gold leaf .
  25. I always loved this car. There were several rear engine funny cars, but Dunn's was the only one that ever won a national event. Here are a couple of pics fom my files. One with the body off and one with different graphics. Great job on the build !
