  1. Well, if you’re going to start over, how about these 2 colors, as they are pretty close to Rally green, which it looks like that’s what you were doing. The first one is Tamiya TS20 metallic green, the other is testors emerald green. I mixed both and this is how it came out. I hope that helps you a little with your color choice.
  2. Great color choice for a 69. As long as you’re going to wet sand it, I’d add another coat of paint as it will lay down even smoother and look deeper after you’ve wet sanded it. The smoother every coat is, the next coat will lay down better giving you a deeper and smoother finish. Just a suggestion.
  3. Well, its painted and cleared. I decided to go with Tamiya pure gold, probably more due to impatience, but I think it looks close enough. Here’s some pics right after paint and clear. Thanks for looking.
  4. Great Job! Love the old luxury cars!
  5. Well... here’s the 3 colors I was bouncing around, then I found an article about the colors and came up with this ( see the pics ). My body shop is going to cross reference those paint codes to the brand they use, and I’ll go with the actual correct color used. Although, I would have leaned toward the pure gold colored spoon but photos are hard to tell sometimes as lighting changes everything. It’s amazing as the spoons look different in the pic than they do as I look at them!
  6. Hey thanks, it was a challenge and I wanted to see how it would look, and so far I’m happy enough with it to continue. Hopefully I’ll have paint on it tonight. Someday maybe I’ll find a ‘74 and have both body styles. More to come...
  7. Awesome MAD MAX-ism! “ When the gangs take over the highways, pray he’s out there...somewhere”
  8. Hey Guys, Thanks for all the encouraging comments. I received my custom license plates that will really finish it off. I’m hoping to start painting this weekend
  9. Yes it is. I used the amt 70 Galaxie police car for the rest.
  10. Update. Well the hood’s turning out nicely so far. I got the filler piece in and molded in place. I also tried to add a little curvature to the top of the windows at the roof line but I had to be careful as I was afraid about cracking where the t tops are molded in, but I think its starting to look like an esprit. Thanks for looking!
  11. Thanks for the nice comments! It’s a cool addition to the TV/MOVIE car collection!
  12. Very cool! It’s coming along nicely and the wheels look great
  13. I see what your saying, thanks
  14. Well, the bodywork is about done. I started on the hood where you can see I used the shaker hole as a template and cut out the filler piece I needed from the resin flat hood so the hood line matches up. Thanks for checking!
  15. It’s great to see so many well done models! Sometimes its hard to tell from the 1:1. Here’s a few of my favorites. A few fogging paint jobs and T.D.’s Vette. And my “paint chip code Cuda”
  16. WOW AWESOME WORK!!!!
  17. Very nicely done!
  18. Thanks! What a pain though it turned out decent enough to sit in the case!
  19. Yeah, the real on was an automatic. The few scenes he’s shifting, they never show the car he’s in, but hey, that was ‘80s movies I guess. I did mine as the 4speed as I thought it made a cool muscle car converting it to a 4 speed, which it not to say it couldn’t be done. Notice the shotgun on the passenger side... Thanks for looking
  20. Well, I did finish the White Lightening Galaxie and I think it turned out ok. It’s good enough to take a place in my TV/MOVIE collection. The final assembly was not easy. A lot of final grinding, even with all the test fitting, but its done! Thanks for looking!
  21. It’s been a lot of work, I hope after all that it turns out decent. I’m hoping to have the body done today
  22. It’s the Revell L88 vette kit. I tend to do the bodies first this way I can go back at anytime to finish it. Reason being, the decals. If they ever go bad, that subject matter is shot. I’m trying to get the bodywork on the Rockford firebird done, and finish the White Lightening Galaxie finished today.
  23. Hey Guys, yes I have the movie Grand Prix in my collection. He also had a Corvette racing team in the late 60’s I believe. Here’s a pic of his racing corvette. Another project... He was truly a class act.
  24. Well, I think this was pretty good progress for one day. There’s still a lot left to do on the body, and I think I’ll just fill in the hole of the shaker hood using the resin flat hood because it has the molding lip in the middle and it seems to fit better. I’m still not sure how its going to turn out, but I think it’ll be decent enough for a curbside shelf model.
  25. Thanks! Reading some of the back stories about the series, they wanted to portray him as a paycheck to paycheck PI. Thus, having him drive a “ regular mans “ firebird seemed to fit better, along with living in the trailer. Garner, being a true car guy, had actual formula 400 firebirds that were stripped down to the esprit bird. He felt the formula, with the better suspension and 400 engine was better suited for the stunts, which he did a lot of himself. I also read they used their own color of gold so it would be the same color for every one he drove. He also did not want the 79-80, wanting only to drive the 78.
