Thanks guys, the only thing I couldn’t replicate were the stars. I had to use some from another decal sheet -
Really nice detailing and clean build on a great musclecar

Revell 53 Chevy panel truck red/white/blue

Perfect timing, I know Thanks -
Hey Guys, I wanted to post some pics of the red/white/blue 53 Chevy Panel truck I painted a few days ago. I’d finished the kit a while ago, but disassembled it to repaint the body after seeing some of the Revell 53 panel trucks done in the original box art showing the red/white/blue with the stars. I couldn’t find any star decals so I had to use the stars from the Glidden Monza pro stock sheet. One more done of the old time kits, which I used the reissue 53 panel truck. Thanks for looking and happy 4th !!!!

Revell red/white/blue 53 Chevy Panel
dragmodels44 replied to dragmodels44's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks! I used the model masters lacquers, star spangled blue, reving red and white lightening, then added a little house of kolors pearl flake to the clear. I had to use the stars from the Glidden monza decals as I couldn’t find any stars let alone bigger ones. -
While waiting for the 283 parts pack for my MAG dragster, I wanted to do remake of my 53 Chevy Panel that’s been sitting. While looking through posts of other build I saw this oldie but goodie that reminded me of one I did as a kid. Remember the Revell red/white/blue 53 Panel truck? I’d finished it, but the body was flat black, like the gasser hot rods in primer. I saw someones red/white/blue 53 and thought how cool it’d be to have that one, especially since the 4th is here. Here’s some pics. Thanks for looking.

Jesse, yours is the one I’m following! I found the posting and have been studying your pics! I already have the Jimmy Flintsone’s resin driver figure! There’s also another one done on here that looked good!

New project on the bench...AG dragster. The body shell’s been painted for a while, and now I’m starting it. I’v been researching the car including some great builds done here. I realize now I should have shaved off the top part of the body so it could be one piece when the decal was applied, so unfortunately I’ll have a visible seam. I’ll probably fill the gap with epoxy and run a thin bead of paint over it, but that’ll be at the end.It looks like I can pirate some good engine pieces from the jr 22 dragster combo. Here’s a pic of the body mocked up on the chassis that’s painted with the slicks on I think I may have a thinner set of slicks and mags, as was on his. As I was writing this I did find thinner slicks/mags so I added that pic as well. Thanks for looking.

Really nice build!

Thanks, I’m holding off mounting the wheels/tires until I can find a better set of whitewalls

Well, I just fixed a screw up that I cant believe I missed. I inadvertently painted the taillight covers silver, instead of body color. So I had to carefully repaint it while it was on the body. Unbelievable!

Thank You!

ALMOST FINISHED! Just wanted to add an update to the Rockford files firebird, I had to mock up the wheels/tires for now as I cant find wheel backs yet. Otherwise it’s pretty much done. I did it as a curbside but it looks decent. It’s one I’ve wanted to add for a long time. The correct license plate made it! Hope you like it. Thanks for looking.

HA! Good point!

I republished the body so I’ve got it about as glossy as I can get it. I bare metal foiled it, I had to wing it for the window moldings as there was nothing left after all the sanding. All the painting is pretty much done. I found two sets of Rally II wheels and I’m glad I got them both as the chrome set is a little too big for the tires. The resin set fits better so I’m going with those. I went with dark tan for the interior. The colors look like a pretty good match.

Looks awesome. The color looks spot on for the Ford Lt green met. That was a good article and the Jan 2000 has the rest of the build for the engine. Great work.

Here’s an update on the paint. I wasn’t happy with the gloss, so I scuffed it and re-cleared it, then polished it out. Definitely looks better.

Coming along nicely. Love the 60’s mopars!

Great start as funny cars are tricky and will test your patience! Think of every one as a stepping stone to do better on the next one. Try to challenge yourself with every model. Painting, detailing, realism etc... Check this board for tips and other models done that you are considering. Also, you can google the actual car to get photos to aid you in detailing. Good Luck!
