  1. As I was saying before things went pffft: It arrived a day early and since then it's been dismantled and thoroughly cleaned, flash removed from that right-hand taillight bezel, and I checked for fit of the glass from the '64 Comet to replace the windshield. The pins on the body are a bit wide but it will work. Off to look for a spare one and to order a Modelhaus windshield frame...
  2. Man, that looks mean in primer and mags. Was yours originally molded in red? I've got one in progress; started with a bare body and basically gutted a Skyliner for everything else (fortunately as you know the parts fit very well) including the engine compartment and hood. Thinking about white and gold two-tone with chrome reverses and wide whites plus a '59 Meteor grille (made using a '59 Mercury grille).
  3. If you need to repair a crack in a Cycolac plastic promo body, what glue works best? Does Tenax or Plastruct liquid cement adhere better than regular Testors? And for gluing a resin windshield frame to repair a promo body, which is better: cyanoacrylate, epoxy, or something else? Thanks!
  4. I think I like it better than either the Uncertain T or the T'Rantula - it has the best of both designs!
  5. I was going to say I have a roof from a junked '62 promo that might help, but it looks like you're going in another direction. Good luck!
  6. Black Beauty from The Green Hornet AMT had the Imperial kit already; did they flip a coin and decide to do the car from The Hero instead? Both shows were one-season-and-gone but you'd think Hornet would have been a more natural choice.
  7. "That's a customized transmission. It has eight forward speeds - " (Chevy Blazer jerks backwards) " - and three reverse." "OK. You're an ambulance driver."
  8. Does the package shelf in the real car have that sort of effect? My 1/1 '62 Imperial had a sort of woven finish to it; for my Revell kit I used a piece of linen finish bond paper painted matte black with a little rubbing to bring up the texture.
  9. What about the hood/cowl/front fender alignment? (Still a nice clean build.)
  10. Hmm. Wonder why this was built? Seems a bit too finished to just be a drivetrain test mule (although the bodywork is a bit rough); and there were no full-sized Olds wagons by then, so it looks like they had to use a modified Pontiac or Chevy wagon body, probably with the front of the frame cut off and the Toro clip spliced in. Maybe the idea was to see how much more interior room they could get in a wagon with a front-drive setup? Looking at images online I'm thinking it's a '66 Pontiac fullsize wagon body modified to straighten the lower side flare:
  11. Not a Mopar; it's a mix of '71 and '72 Chevelle. From imcdb.org, this one has a '72 grille and '71 turn signals: And a screen grab from the trailer - this one has a '71 grille and '72 turn signals:
  12. Oh yeah, should have clarified that - front suspension and rear axle with leaf springs added. Not perfect but it is 1/24 with a wide enough track.
  13. While doing an image search I ran across this short video excerpt from a longer piece called Easy Living - has anyone seen the whole thing? http://openvault.wgbh.org/catalog/ntw-mla000244-car-wash-sequence-from-easy-living Note the Renwal Revival model!
  14. Not so much Al Capone - more like El Kabong...
  15. Let's see. '57: AMT hardtop - nice white builtup from an estate sale AMT hardtop - 1 3/4 kits for my uncle's Fairlane 500 Town Sedan project Revell Country Squire - decent unpainted builtup AMT T-bird - Craftsman builtup painted green AMT T-bird - about 2 1/2 regular kits worth except for hoods, future project to build Nancy Sinatra's car '58: AMT original issue Edsel: Modelhaus hardtop, finished in coral and ivory AMT original issue Edsel: Unpainted builtup hardtop, pretty good shape, future builder AMT new Edsel: Started, future project to build my former 1/1 Ranger four-door sedan AMT Fairlane 500 convertible: Two builtups with some issues, one a bit better than the other; might get a Modelhaus hardtop body for the rougher one Monogram '58 T-bird: Two partly-assembled kits I'm parting out for suspension and running gear for my Hubley '61 Ford wagon; might build one T-bird if there's enough left over '59: PMC styrene Ranchero: Molded in red, very good body with conversion in process using innards from Revell Skyliner PMC styrene Country Sedan: Molded in Geranium, near-mint original coaster (no glass/interior); keeping as-is PMC styrene Country Sedan: Molded in red, damaged body shell only, mostly repaired but still in my CA stash (if it hasn't been trashed; have a friend looking for it) for another Skyliner conversion
  16. Love the Jet Stream Blue and Snow White two-tone! I built a hardtop in that scheme long ago; traded it to Ron Merkel. Wonder if he still has it...
  17. I'm going with Rallys on mine; my kit was missing wheels/tires and engine so I parted out an AMT Challenger for them. That said, the Radir mags from the AMT Wheel and Trailer Donor kit (aka Fireball 500 ) would look good too...
  18. Really love the color! I mostly remember seeing those with several years' worth of fading and chalking so it's kind of a revelation. Did you do a wash on the lower quarter trim?
  19. A chromed concave reflector behind the lens goes a long way for that; if it's not too deep.
  20. Oh boy. Just the stuff that I have all the pieces to finish or nearly so: '40 Ford pickup '65 Dodge Monaco '60 Chrysler Windsor '61 Pontiac Bonneville '62 Pontiac Catalina '62 Impala convertible (original) '61 Continental convertible '62 Continental sedan '64 Continental sedan '64 Chevy Malibu '61 Falcon (been 2/3 finished for 35 years...) '66 T-bird (A Craftsman, for Pete's sake. If I can't finish that...) Plus my uncle's '57 Fairlane 500 four-door sedan. Got the parts for the 406 conversion, plus I found a great set of sharp interior photos to match the upholstery patterns (way different from the 2-door hardtop) and door panels. When he comes for Thanksgiving I'll be picking his brain for more details...
  21. Definitely - it's a chemical reaction (although heat could speed up the process?). This could be another thread by itself...
  22. Does this new issue have plastic whitewall inserts for the tires?
