Really love the color! I mostly remember seeing those with several years' worth of fading and chalking so it's kind of a revelation. Did you do a wash on the lower quarter trim?

Help with 50's Car Headlights
ChrisBcritter replied to davyou5's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
A chromed concave reflector behind the lens goes a long way for that; if it's not too deep. -
Oh boy. Just the stuff that I have all the pieces to finish or nearly so: '40 Ford pickup '65 Dodge Monaco '60 Chrysler Windsor '61 Pontiac Bonneville '62 Pontiac Catalina '62 Impala convertible (original) '61 Continental convertible '62 Continental sedan '64 Continental sedan '64 Chevy Malibu '61 Falcon (been 2/3 finished for 35 years...) '66 T-bird (A Craftsman, for Pete's sake. If I can't finish that...) Plus my uncle's '57 Fairlane 500 four-door sedan. Got the parts for the 406 conversion, plus I found a great set of sharp interior photos to match the upholstery patterns (way different from the 2-door hardtop) and door panels. When he comes for Thanksgiving I'll be picking his brain for more details...

Righto!

Does this new issue have plastic whitewall inserts for the tires?
-
Got the engine filler piece for the chassis of my '61 Continental; last missing piece to that puzzle . Think I'll fill in most of the axle hole to make it less obvious.

OK, I'll give you guys another shot. Same movie: "You want to sell that Deuce?" "Why you fellers always after me to buy my car?" "That '32 is the ideal stock to convert to a bomb." ..... "Paid six hundred and ninety-five dollars for that car 26 years ago. Ten years ago, wasn't worth a dime. Last month, I turned down a hundred fer it. When it gets back up to six-ninety-five, then I'll sell it!"

Batman (now at last on DVD!) I Love Lucy Crime Story SCTV Ernie Kovacs The Bob Newhart Show Adam-12 Family Guy SNL, as hit-and-miss as it is Red Green Waiting for God Are You Being Served? Laugh-In Get Smart Mr. Pickles (very guilty pleasure) The P.J.s Rocky and Bullwinkle Monty Python (bet you didn't know Elvis was a big fan of the show - especially the "wink-wink/nudge-nudge" bit) Drawn Together The Munsters Candid Camera Bozo's Circus (on WGN, in the 1960s and 70s - Bob Bell was a terrific ad-libber) Match Game Password The Carol Burnett Show Speed Racer (great show for kids - veered from wacked-out humor to mawkish sentimentality to horrific violence, often in the same episode - and it was toned down for the American audience?? At least it had cars.) Police Squad! Fawlty Towers The Simpsons What's My Line? To Tell the Truth (I used to play my own home version of the show when GSN ran it - when the three guests came out I'd Google the name of the person they said they were and try to beat the panel.)

^^^ What he said. Google "Jon-Erik Hexum" for what damage you can do with a blank cartridge, and be thankful you're still here.

Dodge A100 Pickup
ChrisBcritter replied to dragstueck's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice job! Were there any problems building it? -
The Revell kit was a Newport - not as crisply detailed as the Jo-Han kit, but buildable. The big difference is that it has correctly shaped wheel covers. Been hunting for a set of those for a long time; or even a single one off a gluebomb I could use for casting.

Magnificent work as usual, Steve! The colors look better in daylight even if the weather didn't quite cooperate Still picking away at my Windsor. The Eduard photoetch "2x4" mesh worked perfectly for the grille after I hollowed out the surround; now I'm deepening the interior and adding bucket seats. So it goes...

Too much choice: I need a hand!
ChrisBcritter replied to Faust's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And the Revell kits are probably a better grade of plastic. -

"Holy Grail" Models?
ChrisBcritter replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I luckily have most of mine, including Revell and PMC '57 and '59 Ford wagons, but I'd like to find a '64 Bonneville convertible and a '64 Grand Prix that I could cut up and combine to make a Catalina 2+2 convertible like the one I owned years ago. -
Picked up a bottle of Tamiya surfacing primer at Hobby Lobby in Arlington Heights with the coupon, and noticed they have a couple Revell Willys pickups in the clearance section for $14 and change. Heads up if you want to grab 'em.
