These were usually made from the remains of clapped-out four-door sedans; guess it's better than making them into couches...

Terrific job on this one! Did you use a '63-'64 Cadillac Coupe deVille roof? The 1/1 Chevy and Pontiac four-door hardtops used the same stamping as the Coupe deVille for the roof with different C-pillars.

^^^ Duel. Let's try this: Two '57 Eldorado Biarritz convertibles. One easier, one harder: Hint: Made ten years apart. One starred an Oscar winner and two nominees (none were for this film) and the other starred two Genie winners (Canada's Oscar).

Testors has one, but the Tamiya one is better (of course it costs more). Whatever you do, don't get the cheap knockoff at Harbor Freight - you'll wind up being chased by dinosaurs.

I imagine he did some work on it - I was there last time it sold and took some photos. Check out this huge crack in the upper left rear; it starts at the trim line, runs down and comes back up to the trim line again. Must be a stress point in the body: Most amusing part for me was the winner was a phone bidder, thereby denying the viewers of what would have been a massive show of fawning over the buyer and telling him how wonderful he was. Showmanship abhors an anticlimax. So they fawned best they could over the next highest bidder! :lol:

Remake of Vanishing Point. Watch for the shot of the Charger backing up to the camera - it's been reversed (dust clouds shrinking under the tires ).

Don't see the 1/32 Avanti, but they're already selling on eBay.

The ultimate barn find! Only 6808 miles on it when this was taken. I know this car well; even sat inside it and shot video over 20 years ago (and got a shot of the owner accidentally peeling out!). Very interesting to hear that. I wonder how it would look if you painted the bumper silver, sealed it with clear gloss, and then applied the metalizer?

PMC (or AMT?) did a '58 Chevy Bel Air four-door hardtop promo (later knocked off as a much cheaper Fire Chief and Police car that was a weird amalgam of Impala roof and tail with Bel Air sides). Revell's '62 Dodge and Imperial were four-door hardtops as well, along with the Revell/AMT '55 and '56 Buick Century. Last Jo-Han four-door Caddy was the '62 Fleetwood. Probably the last stock four-door hardtop issued was the AMT '70 LTD which became the four-door Galaxie cop car. (Wonder why the '70 LTD wasn't done as a coupe like all the previous ones?)

Only Jo-Han Imperials were '67 and '68.

^^^ Baretta. OK, no one got the rusty '56 Eldorado - it was from John Waters' Multiple Maniacs starring Divine. So let's try something else. It just so happens our own iceman-555 aka Joel is building the same car, in the same color: Hint: It's from a Japanese movie - although it lost something in the translation when it was released in America. Actually it lost everything in the translation... Another hint? OK. Egg salad.

Guess you need a hint or two? OK. It was the last black-and-white film for this director and his favorite 300-lb. actor who went by one name. The Seven-Ups.

Dazed and Confused.

Aaannnd sold! sold! sold! sold! for $661.25, or a hundred more than the one they sold last year with undamaged cars. Hey, wait a minute - this is the one they sold last year: Look at the scratches over the word "Superide" - they're identical. Looks like the bidder who bought it last year (or maybe their kid) played with it, messed up one of the cars and and said "It's broken, I don't want it any more"...
