  1. Has anyone produced a photoetch set (or at least emblems) for the AMT '65 Continental? I have a '64 in my current project stash and once I got three coats of paint stripped, found a lot of the emblems were sanded down or off .
  2. Isn't this based on the 1/32 Japanese Isuzu Bonnet Bus kit? Even with the LHD conversion and Chevy nose it still needs a good deal of modification around the windows to look more like an American school bus.
  3. Very nice work! What type of cement did you use to attach the styrene roof to the Cycolac promo body and repair the cracks? Did you have to add gussets under the pillars?
  4. What brand of acrylic paint has been most successful for whitewalls? I need to change some promo tires to wide whites.
  5. Maybe keep me in mind for leftovers too - I bought a gluebomb original issue about a year before they reissued it (thought for sure those molds were gone...). Did the same thing with the '59 Imperial. Maybe I'm cursed?... You think if I spend a bunch of money on a '60 Mercury the molds will turn up?
  6. Be sure to miss every thrilling episode!
  7. That bumpiness issue has made me end up using regular aluminum foil with Micro Foil Cement. Larger trim pieces especially seem to come out smoother.
  8. Elegant job on an elegant car! Looks like a good match for factory Ivory White over Frosty Tan. I've read here that the chrome parts had to be recreated to replace missing molds; they did such a good job that both the original and the reissue have a little gap between the grille/headlights and the fenders/hood! It takes some trimming on the fenders and grinding under the hood but it's fixable.
  9. You could also get some ideas from the Falcon, the streamliner built for the 1936 Jimmy Stewart movie Speed: IMCDb listing here. Great little movie with scenes filmed at Muroc - look it up.
  10. OK. I started with the roof; it was a 300 DPI scan: I started by making the number bolder. I noticed the real movie car had a gap between the stripes and numbers, so I added that too. If you can make a usable decal from it let me know and I'll tackle the doors. Good luck!
  11. No, since it's a Pacer it would be an FE (361ci), labeled E-400. The Corsair and Citation had the MEL (410ci), labeled E-475. I do have an FE in my '62 T-bird I could check it against, as well as the original engines in my '62 Mercury and '63 Galaxie.
  12. Here's Pamela in her last film, the 1986 Italian TV movie Rose - she still looks good at that point: Back to the car: Looking at the still from the movie, the number 5 on the door looks different from the one on the decal sheet; If I scanned it and modified it to match would anyone want me to post it?
  13. How does it compare to the FE in the Edsel kit (which is supposed to be undersize)? I've been thinking about getting a '60 to put its chassis under a Hubley '61 Ford wagon; maybe I can put that extra FE in my Edsel.
  14. Don't forget to check out the movie Bikini Beach for some terrific footage of the Showboat - and crank your speakers when it runs at Pomona; the sound it makes is glorious.
  15. Close - it's actually a '61 Ghia L6.4. They argued for four years in French and English over it, but L6.4 it is.
  16. I have a '60 Chevy wagon promo that had some warpage; placed it next to a wall heater to try to straighten it a bit. The plastic had other ideas... now I just display the driver's side.
  17. Nothing short of a miracle. How hard was it to get the old body extensions and putty off?
  18. Nice human interest piece, but I'd like to know more details; like what was the actual date they bought it, was it a very low serial, etc. It'd be cool to see the original bill of sale and window sticker, too. Extra points for saving the original license plates!
  19. Thanks for posting this one, Richard! Not only does the kit build up nicely, but I can also see it as a very inexpensive source for a sharp set of Caddy wire wheels and tires - plus all the chrome items as custom parts for other kits. Do the wheels just press on to one-piece metal axles? Are they close enough to 1/25 to look OK? Hope so...
  20. Are these correct? Jo-Han '62 Chrysler 300:
  21. Hi Shane, Magnificent work on this one. Have a question which I'll PM.
  22. I may have to get some of their tires - have they had any issues with melting like some resin tires have, or are they OK? Also, do soft resin tires affect wheels like vinyl tires?
  23. James Dean had a 356 which he traded in on the 550 Spyder (and I can't believe that some Dean fan didn't save that 356 back then; it's never turned up) in which he was killed; before either of those he had an MGTD. His daily driver/race car tow rig was a white '55 Ford Country Squire.
  24. And I'm not even talking about the bodies (although those are two of the straightest '58 wagons I've seen); look at the chrome parts. What weird process is going on with the first car's chrome that didn't happen to the second one? Same thing with many others in that auction. Acetate promos are just depressing to look at...
  25. So weird to see a car like this: together with a car like this: What was going on with the plastic back then?
