  1. Thanks for posting this one, Richard! Not only does the kit build up nicely, but I can also see it as a very inexpensive source for a sharp set of Caddy wire wheels and tires - plus all the chrome items as custom parts for other kits. Do the wheels just press on to one-piece metal axles? Are they close enough to 1/25 to look OK? Hope so...
  2. Are these correct? Jo-Han '62 Chrysler 300:
  3. Hi Shane, Magnificent work on this one. Have a question which I'll PM.
  4. I may have to get some of their tires - have they had any issues with melting like some resin tires have, or are they OK? Also, do soft resin tires affect wheels like vinyl tires?
  5. James Dean had a 356 which he traded in on the 550 Spyder (and I can't believe that some Dean fan didn't save that 356 back then; it's never turned up) in which he was killed; before either of those he had an MGTD. His daily driver/race car tow rig was a white '55 Ford Country Squire.
  6. And I'm not even talking about the bodies (although those are two of the straightest '58 wagons I've seen); look at the chrome parts. What weird process is going on with the first car's chrome that didn't happen to the second one? Same thing with many others in that auction. Acetate promos are just depressing to look at...
  7. So weird to see a car like this: together with a car like this: What was going on with the plastic back then?
  8. Nice job on the Mustang II - they do look good in black. As long as you're making a few changes, try these on for size: Just copy the image and reduce it to fit. That 1/25 scale license plate site is pretty good, but the fonts don't match - and since you had a good copy of the plate on Photobucket, I thought it might be fun to try to match it. Hope you can use 'em!
  9. Clean, clean, clean! One question on the Studebaker: Are those the taillight lenses you got with the kit? They're from the Jo-Han '62 Rambler.
  10. I like factory two-tone code code #135 - Raven Black over Desert Rose: http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1956-Chrysler-pg01.jpg http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1956-Chrysler-pg02.jpg
  11. Another image of the Kat: decal from the Craftsman Series '63 Nova wagon.
  12. Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Very spooky night shots! Great job, Ira.
  13. Times like this I really hate Photobucket...
  14. Palmer? Hmm. I thought for sure it was Pyro, but then again I bought it back in the summer of 1974 so I could be wrong. It was molded in red and didn't have any chromed parts; I built it as a jalopy racer. Did anyone else issue the Palmer kit? (Lindberg?) PM me - you might catch me in a weak moment if you want to trade something!
  15. I'm surprised some European company hasn't taken a shot at making any post WWII Rolls-Royces and/or Bentleys; for example a Silver Shadow/Corniche/Camargue series which could share chassis and engine tooling, or an SCII/III instead of yet another reissue of the (ugh) Hubley kit.
  16. It's actually a 1921 Olds. Here's a nice walkaround of an original: One big but correctable error on the kit is the honeycomb on the radiator should be flush with the front of the radiator shell. It's an easy fix - just insert the radiator into the shell, mark around the opening, remove it, then carve away around the outline until it fits flush with the front of the shell.
  17. Let's see. I had the '61 Ranchero when I was a kid (not seen here). I have the '40 Ford sedan molded in white (the Pyro '40 Tudor looks like it was cribbed from this one!), the '60 T-bird, and I had an Avanti but it looks like it got left behind in my move last year like many of my other models. Nice kits all.
  18. Interesting - how did you get that nice even dust effect? (And if this was a stocker when you started, do you have any of the original tires left over?)
  19. Such elegant cars they were... and you captured that understated look so well. Could we take a look under the hood pleeeze? Wish AMT would find the molds for it, or for the '69 if they updated it to that year.
  20. Let's just call it "Weathering Heights".
  21. Age two, playing with my Matchbox Karrier Bantam Coca-Cola truck and Ford Anglia, which somehow I still have.
  22. '57 Buick Century (not Roadmaster like the promos) '56 Continental Mark II '69-'71 Continental Mark III '56 Plymouth Fury '58-'60 Rambler American
  23. Weird piece of trivia about the stock wheel covers - they're way too flat to represent the Nova items, but that error makes them a near-perfect match for, of all things, the optional wheel covers for the '63 Olds Starfire!
  24. I've been looking up the 1/32 AMT All Stars kits lately, and I have a question: All the kits except the '32 Ford 3-window coupe have a 1/25 AMT counterpart. Did AMT have plans to release a 1/25 three-window in the mid-sixties that got canceled? Also, if anyone has one of these All Stars coupes, does it have the same body issue that all the 1/25 AMT '32 Fords have ("sectioned" on the sides)?
  25. They pop up now and then on eBay; here's an incomplete kit that combined with yours would make a whole one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-M764-1936-Ford-Coupe-1-43-Mini-Kit-Unbuilt-in-Box-/360691841541?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item53fae8ba05 (I'd make him an offer of about 1/3 his price at the most! The last several ones sold went for $5-$10.
