Engine sources
ChrisBcritter replied to RadialDragon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No, since it's a Pacer it would be an FE (361ci), labeled E-400. The Corsair and Citation had the MEL (410ci), labeled E-475. I do have an FE in my '62 T-bird I could check it against, as well as the original engines in my '62 Mercury and '63 Galaxie. -
Here's Pamela in her last film, the 1986 Italian TV movie Rose - she still looks good at that point: Back to the car: Looking at the still from the movie, the number 5 on the door looks different from the one on the decal sheet; If I scanned it and modified it to match would anyone want me to post it?

How does it compare to the FE in the Edsel kit (which is supposed to be undersize)? I've been thinking about getting a '60 to put its chassis under a Hubley '61 Ford wagon; maybe I can put that extra FE in my Edsel. -
How did you melt yours?

I have a '60 Chevy wagon promo that had some warpage; placed it next to a wall heater to try to straighten it a bit. The plastic had other ideas... now I just display the driver's side. -
Nothing short of a miracle. How hard was it to get the old body extensions and putty off?

First Mustang ever sold..
ChrisBcritter replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice human interest piece, but I'd like to know more details; like what was the actual date they bought it, was it a very low serial, etc. It'd be cool to see the original bill of sale and window sticker, too. Extra points for saving the original license plates! -
1953 Cadillac Eldorado - - Class of '53 - - Entry #3
ChrisBcritter replied to Ramfins59's topic in Model Cars
Thanks for posting this one, Richard! Not only does the kit build up nicely, but I can also see it as a very inexpensive source for a sharp set of Caddy wire wheels and tires - plus all the chrome items as custom parts for other kits. Do the wheels just press on to one-piece metal axles? Are they close enough to 1/25 to look OK? Hope so... -
Are these correct? Jo-Han '62 Chrysler 300:

Promotional Models Auction
ChrisBcritter replied to Thom's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And I'm not even talking about the bodies (although those are two of the straightest '58 wagons I've seen); look at the chrome parts. What weird process is going on with the first car's chrome that didn't happen to the second one? Same thing with many others in that auction. Acetate promos are just depressing to look at... -

So weird to see a car like this: together with a car like this: What was going on with the plastic back then? -
Nice job on the Mustang II - they do look good in black. As long as you're making a few changes, try these on for size: Just copy the image and reduce it to fit. That 1/25 scale license plate site is pretty good, but the fonts don't match - and since you had a good copy of the plate on Photobucket, I thought it might be fun to try to match it. Hope you can use 'em!

Clean, clean, clean! One question on the Studebaker: Are those the taillight lenses you got with the kit? They're from the Jo-Han '62 Rambler.

AMT All Stars '32 Ford question
ChrisBcritter replied to ChrisBcritter's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Palmer? Hmm. I thought for sure it was Pyro, but then again I bought it back in the summer of 1974 so I could be wrong. It was molded in red and didn't have any chromed parts; I built it as a jalopy racer. Did anyone else issue the Palmer kit? (Lindberg?) PM me - you might catch me in a weak moment if you want to trade something! -
It's actually a 1921 Olds. Here's a nice walkaround of an original: One big but correctable error on the kit is the honeycomb on the radiator should be flush with the front of the radiator shell. It's an easy fix - just insert the radiator into the shell, mark around the opening, remove it, then carve away around the outline until it fits flush with the front of the shell.
