  1. Very clean work..keep up the excellent build
  2. Gary is a great guy to deal with too! We're working on an Oshkosh front discharge mixer right now.
  3. I agree...the two tone silver looks cool! Nice job
  4. Thanks everyone. The project was a huge change from my normal ....I usually build strictly 1/35 military kits.
  5. Here's my completed build of the 1950 Chevy. I utilized the Ron Andrews resin cab, AMT "Texaco " kit, and several scratched parts along the way! The paint is Orange / White pearl . Createx Wicked colors was used, this stuff is amazing . Thin it down using their W500 high performance thinner about 50% and spray...simple!! The clear is a 2 part urethane from URE-KEM. I replaced the plastic floor w/ wood strips, 1/16 channel for the ribs. There's a Optima yellow top hiding under the hood, and Pegasus wheels for burnouts. Alclad 2 was used throughout for the chrome bits. I found a suitable side mirror from the 67 vette..which also gave up the rear suspension..for that ground dragging look I'm having trouble uploading from PB..the upload doesn't finish after I click ok, so here's the thumbnails..sorry enjoy the pics!
  6. I moved this project to the " under glass" area....enjoy the pics!!
  7. I was thinking of dirt demons build when reading this ....pictures don't even do this model justice! And its being pulled around by a Lonestar
  8. Thanks for the feedback! Yep...the truck was cleared over the wknd. I tried a urethane clear called ure-kem ...this stuff worked perfectly. I'll post a few finished pics after the alclad dries. Oh yeah...I also installed the wood floor for the bed.
  9. Thanks for the comments! I should have mentioned the kit is 1/35 scale. For some reason photobucket is giving me fits transferring pics here, I'd show the arm and detail shots..
  10. Thanks! Yeah...the model requires a steady hand to move. The cage is really solid though...not as fragile as it appears. The cage set was well made. They include a jig to assemble the panels...and each one has a very small bracket that ties each one together. I hung them in groups of 4 panels.
  11. The Bronco Buffalo 6X6 MPCV ..an engineering marvel. I added the Lion Roar bar armor update set to model a truck from Afghanistan. The Buff was painted w/ Tamiya paints, weathered w pastels. The arm is fully plumbed w rubber hoses, wire, and metal fittings. The ballistic glass was painted using Future floor polish and food coloring..2 drops of blue, and touch of green, mixed in a film canister of Future. The model won "Best Armor and Best Master Builder at a local contest Jeff
  12. sorry guys..I'll post them properly next time! I didn't watch the tutorial about the photobucket..oops
  13. the grille and front bumper will be rechromed using Alclad II . After snapping the pics, the transition under the cab door annoyed me..it looked odd next to the bed. I remasked the running boards, and shot the orange along the step wall.
  14. I've been working on a fun project lately, and wanted to share in the progress! The project started by using the AMT 1950 Chevy "Texaco" for the chassis. The plan was to build a truck inspired by "Counting cars " flatbed, but took a detour into a mild custom. The cab is from Ron Andrews. I can open the hood after scratching a set of hinges I'm using Pegasus wheels, and the paint is Createx Wicked line ..pearl orange over pearl white! The frame required major surgery to fit the wheelbase of the truck..and decided to lower the suspension for a ground hugging appearance. I grafted in a '67 Vette rear, made airbags using pencil erasers. The front was lowered after I bent plastic rod for an axle, then flipped it over the kit springs. The appearance of pleated seats is just Tamiya tape and piping is .020" rod glued around the seat . Hope ya like it so far!
  15. Gray mack- I wished I'd started by modifying a kit part! I'm used to building resin conversions in armor builds..seem much better engineered
  16. Pharoah- I did have to add the grill bar as mentioned. I haven't decided if wheel wells should be added, just finished the frame chop. Good heads up on the glass..mine doesn't fit.
  17. Thanks for the pics and suggestions. My biggest surprise was how little the kit parts actually fit to the cab. The need for a doghouse alluded me, and notice from your pics the firewall will require filler. Thank you
  18. I've run into builders block! The project I'm working on is converting AMT 1950 Chevy truck into a COE. Sounded easy enough...purchased a resin cab and started building. The first snag was the required frame chop to remove the 3/4 inch space between cab and bed, and get the wheels centered in the wheel wells. That issue was easy enough, but here's the real head banger. I need some ideas for the engine bay..the kit parts don't help here. I thought of opening up the frame below the engine so the wheel wells fit , but that would throw the grill/ bumper area into chaos. thanks for any input..I hate to shelve this project this far into it Jeff
  19. amazing work on the chassis! looking forward to updates !
  20. scale hobbyist recently listed the Meng models D9R kit. Us armor guys have impatiently waiting for a styrene version of the equipment , and now have one! The kit is listed as backordered, but they restock quickly. The Komatsu excavator heavily weathered on a low boy would look amazing!
  21. thanks for all the feedback. I'm just waiting for the mail man now to begin my project! I'm leaning towards a flat deck truck, 2 toned pearl paint from Createx. I noticed a few pictures showing the hood opens like a standard truck, with large hinges in the center of the hood. There's a big block 427 planned for the engine bay, borrowed from the Corvette roadster. The tire choice is still uncertain...either Alcoa wheels, or torque thrust wheels from Pegasus.
  22. Your color choice looks amazing! I've been looking thru the wicked paint line, and wondered if your model was painted w a white base ?
  23. question- is the C600 flatbed like the stakeside version ? I've located a few around , and a pepsi hauler.. The race hauler would be cool, except for that tire shelf area! A standard flat deck would be more eye appealing
  24. Thanks Aaron- I'll take a look around!
  25. I was planning to build a 1950 Chevy Coe. The idea is to use Ron Andrews resin cab, and have it wearing semi truck tires. Would I be smarter to use the AMT 1950 Chevy truck for the frame, or would a Peterbuilt truck frame be better, it will be slammed. The truck will either be a flatbed..think counting cars..or a cargo truck Thanks for any help Jeff
